waking up

- It's a difficult task, being a leader of a warrior clan without having a deputy. They completed the smaller, but equally important tasks that the leader supposedly had no time for. It was just unfortunate for Bearstar that he had no deputy, since his previous one, Honeynose, left the clan to pursue a love life with a tom from RainClan. It had been an unfortunate loss for the clan, but it was what Honeynose had wanted in her life, so Bearstar had no choice but to let her go. Besides, it wasn't like he had any intention of kicking the bucket just yet. He hadn't even been leader for that long! But now that he was in the position, Bearstar had begun to understand why a deputy was required in the clan. Sometimes, doing things by yourself was an absolute pain the the tail.
Bearstar rose to his paws as sunshine began to stream into his den. New leader, no deputy, and no mate. He was such a fantastic example of what a warrior cat should be. He was rapidly reaching the end of his life, and the tom couldn't even get his act together and court a female. He was the leader, for StarClan's sake! He hated to admit it, but Bearstar had been secretly hoping that his status would give him a better chance at falling in love, but it had easily been proven wrong. Firefur was already expecting a family, and he was younger than the leader himself! Sighing at the thought, Bearstar shook out his pelt, and padded out of the leader's den, flicking his tail as he made his way over to the centre of the camp, and sat down. He wasn't going to wake them up just yet. They would need their rest to go on hunting and territory patrols.
"Good morning, Bearstar." a voice called, and Bearstar looked up to see a white she-cat, Cinderheart, make her way through the mist and sit down across from him.
"Hello there, Cinderheart." Bearstar replied, dipping his head in greeting to the she-cat. "I'm going to assume you're wanting to go on hunting patrol?" A small smile twitched on his muzzle as Cinderheart laughed softly, and looked over at the leader, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
"You bet."
