Adelade raised an eyebrow at the sound of a girls voice. He smirked and chuckled softly. Adelade picked up a sliver about the length of his hand and threw it like one of his knives, making it stick two inches into a tree.

Jesse hugged her to him, letting her cry into his shoulder. He rubbed her back gently saying, "It's okay, Alex. I'm still here."

Lily started playing with the puppy smiling. She let him win and stroked his fluffy head. "Good boy," she told him.

Adelade tuned his ears to hear the dog and its owner. He continued to throw slivers of the tree remnants around.

Toby looked out the window again then whimpered. He had to go outside. Lily took him outside and sat down as Toby wandered around.

Adelade shook his head slightly, the scent of the dog and its owner was stronger now, as if they were closer to him.

Toby sniffed the air, then took off running towards Adelade. "Toby!" Lilith complained and ran after him.

Adelade tensed, a low growl about to rise from his chest. He slipped a knife from his belt and waited for something to appear and attack him.

Toby popped out of the bushes and looked up at Adelade. His tail wagged and he went up and started sniffing him. He heard Lilith calling his name, but didn't seem to care.

The knife fell from Adelade's hand as he stared in disbelief at Toby. He watched Toby's small feet, hoping they wouldn't be cut from the aftermath of his crash.
