~ωєℓ¢σмє тσ тнє ѕтαяℓιgнт ѕαναηηαн ρα¢к!~

You pad along the hardened back of a dried out river, twin dust clouds forming with each step, and squint in the sunlight as an orange Sun dives beneath the horizon for the day. The sunset looks beautiful from your view: the sky is bright red, you could describe it as blood red, with streaks of orange in the red clouds, and the shapes of other animals look like shadows; their bodies outlined in a red glow of the sinking Sun and completely black because the sun sets behind them. The heat of the late afternoon leaves you panting, your tongue dry and hanging out of the side if your mouth, and the darkness in your coat traps more than enough heat. Being in Africa, especially for you, can have both advantages......and then those disadvantages. The heat gets so intense that your eyeballs are close to turning into boiling lava. The skin on the pads of your paws are peeling from walking for miles, browsing each pack or group of African Wild Dogs that you pass on your way to....where ever it is you're going. The rejection lags and holds you back. But then a tall, healthy looking dog appears in front of you, her body pitch black from the sunset behind her. She stands proud, holding her head and tail high in the air, and her whole body screams I am alpha!. She smiles, giving you an exclusive view of her gleaming canines, and then speaks. "I am called Jade. Are you friend..." She began, her voice growing serious. "or foe?"

Here Is Some Info On African Wild Dogs.
Species Name: Lycaon Pictus
Description: The African Wild Dog goes by many names such as the African Painted Dog, the African Wolf, and the Cape Hunting Dog. The AWD(I am using this as an abbreviation for African Wild Dog) is always easily recognizable by its unique coat, and it is a proven fact that no two dogs have the same exact coat pattern. I describe the African Wild Dog as having ears that are large and bat-like, and a naturally-colored coat with patches of brown, white, black, and tan. They usually have dark brown eyes, but studies have shown they can be blue or green, sometimes even gold or liquid amber. Their face us covered with a mask, either black or brown, and dark brown circles around their eyes. The African Wild Dog is actually it's own species, though still related to wolves, and differs from wolves and dogs because it has five toes instead of four. Crazy right? Each if their tails is tipped with white, and it is like a flag to keep the pack informed during hunting trips. The average medium-sized dog weighs 30kg(or 30 to 87 lbs), though males are usually larger than the females, and they stand 60 to 75 cm(or 24 to 30 inches high) at the shoulder.
Behavior: They live mostly in packs, though some disperse and are solitary or loners, that can range from 6 to 20 But there have been "super packs" the size of 100 dogs! The African Wild Dog is rather harsh and ruthless when it comes to hunting, and that is a fact. Studies have reported they can chase their prey for two or three miles while maintaining the speed of 30 miles per hour, sometimes faster. Studies have also reported many successful techniques they used to bring down prey, and most that gave watched these dog hunt will say the packs live by survival or death. People have reported seeing them bring down prey on the run, and that they will tackle prey once in has hit the ground, tearing at it for meat whether still alive or not. They are also very strict to outsiders or challengers to positions in the pack, and carcasses of omegas or low-ranking dog that literally had their hides ripped apart for challenging the alpha's position.
Predators: The African Wild Dog had many predators, along with many prey that they have successfully taken down in the past. Here is a list that I myself have created from my own knowledge of African Wild Dogs. Predators~> Lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. The biggest threat to these dogs are humans and habitat destruction.
Prey: African Wild Dogs are very successful when it comes to hunting, and they have the average success rate of 80%. Here is a list, also made from my very own knowledge, and with the help of the internet but NOT copied, of the African Wild Dog' s diet. This is a specific list. Prey~> young wildebeest calves, gazelles, Pronghorn, impala, springboks, zebras, other antelope, Ibex, bushbacks, Thompson's Gazelle, Greater kudu, desert hare, field mice, rattlesnakes(uncommon), lizards, sometimes warthogs, and they sometimes may prey on small birds and/or insects in necessary.
Status: The African Wild Dog, sadly, is threatened and has been listed in the top numbers on the Threatened And Critically Endangered Species List. Effort is put to build refuges and conversation for the wild dogs, but they are also greatly affected by viruses and diseases such as rabies, parvo, and mange. Rabies is the second biggest threat to African Wild Dogs next to humans.
Population: There are currently less than 5,000 individual African Wild Dogs living in Africa, though effort to increase their numbers has been made, they are slowly rising in numbers.
Reproduction: A female may produce from 10 to 11 pups on average after the genestation period of 70 days, but there have been past litters born that have reached the size of 24 pups. On normal occasions, only the highest ranking female may mate and have pups, but two or three other females may have pups if the conditions are right. For the first few weeks the mother stays in her den with the pups and, like wolves, she relies on the pack to bring her food. The pups stay in the den for the following two months and the more pack members that assist in rearing the pups, the higher their chance is of surviving their first year of life. The pups start eating solid food at 1 month old and instead of the adults carrying back pieces of food for the pups, they regurgitate it for both mother and pups. Once they are old enough to join in on hunting with the pack, where they will lag behind their "babysitter" and usually arrive last to the kill, at which point the other adults will stand aside for the pups to get their share of the meal.

…...:::::Rules:::::......
[*]All of Tess's site rules apply here. Please follow them.
[*]No mini-moding(unless the three chosen by myself) is tolerated here. Also, let me remind you this is REALISTIC. No wings or special powers or earrings or hair please.
[*]No one AWD can possibly take down a potentially large game prey, such as a male Pronghorn or Ibex, so please don't. Also, the success rate for the average hunt for African Wild Dogs is only 80%, which is very good, but your character should not be able to catch large game every single time that you go hunting or the pack goes as a team. There is information about the prey that African Wild Dogs catch above, along with a website or two and information on the species. If you need any help, feel free to shoot me a PM.
[*]Do not force mate/breeding
[*]fade to black when mating/giving birth
[*]I don't gave a problem with genders, but keep it even. I don't want 13 females and 2 males.
[*]Please use proper grammar, and your post must be AT LEAST one sentence. It can be as long as you want it, but don't use up a full page on one post.
[*]You cannot kill another player without their permission.
[*]You can not be mates/crushes with your own player.
[*]There us no limit to the number of characters you have, but make sure you can keep up with them all.
[*]No swearing/inappropriate language.
[*]When in OOC(Out Of Character) use (*), -, [*], {*}, ~, or what ever you want.
[*]Create your own forum please. I don't have the skills to create one in a fancy smancy kind if way. Be creative!

Name: Jade
Age: Three years
Gender: Female
Rank: Alpha Female
Rank Wanted: She IS Alpha Female
History: Jade lived in a small pack, one that had their territory marked extremely close to that if a lion pride. Of course, the pack knew there we're lions near by, and they would travel miles each day in the opposite direction to escape them. But the pride followed, and at night they would go prowling at the den site for unguarded pups. Jade was a very unlucky African Wild Dog, to begin with, because her mother was not the alpha. Her mother had been unnamed for her differences, and was permanently placed as omega. She broke the oldest law: she fell in love with an outsider. Her mother had her pups, though the alpha male made it EXTREMELY clear that only he and his mate could bear pups, but she didn't listen. And when she had her pups, she tried to hide them. Jade's mother had three healthy pups, though when the alpha male found out, he killed the two he could recover. Of course, her mother did the best she could to save the only pup she had left, so she made a run for it with her mate, the outsider, and left with Jade. They didn't get very far, but Jade was left to an underground den while her mother and father were fed to the lions for what they'd done. She managed to survive, though a young pup wouldn't normally ever survive in the deserts with cheetahs, lions, and leopards out to get her.
Personality: Jade, being like all alphas are, has the attitude of a dominant pack member. She will not stand for anyone who deceives her, and she will not stand for law breakers. Otherwise, she is a kind and gentle soul, with a protective side towards the younger pups.
Mate: She hopes for someone to win her heart, but nothing has touched her yet. Maybe it's because she's so stubborn....
Crush: No one yet :c
Pups: Jade has no pups yet, and even though there is a longing in her heart for them, she feels herself to be unprepared for the reckless, squirming bodies in her den with herself and future mate
Other: Nope. Go away.

Name: Heath
Age: Two years ten months
Gender: Heath is a male. What do you think?!
Rank: Hunter
Rank Wanted: Heath IS a hunter.

History: Heath was born to three other siblings, which are dispersed into new packs of created their own, and lived a rather normal puppyhood. His birth pack was made completely if relatives and long lost family members and though not inbred, they all mated with each other. He grew up with his family, the occasional encounters with lion prides that threatened him and bus siblings teaching him very important lessons, and on his first hunt he caught himself a bull gazelle. He is now in the Starlight Savannah Pack, and had dispersed from his pack to find a new pack to continue the rest if his life.
Personality: Heath is your normal, cocky and sarcastic wild dog with the sneaky and cunning attributes that of a Fox. He is also a charmer, and receive many linings from the females through his days. Now all he needs is a keeper.
Mate: He would like a female with a sense of humor and isn't high maintenance, if you put it that way.
Crush: He's git a whole population of females who have crushes on him, though Heath himself has no one that makes him feel....that way.
Pups: Heath has not been given the honor to bear pups
Other: Nope.
