I've been annoyed half to death with how Java was today, so this explains a lot to me. Security warnings and stuff and evntually it not working at all.
Thank you for the help, I disabled java. D:
So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe
Whilst we find the path

Just kind of confused about something;

According to my knowledge this hacker has been in java for eight years now

I've used java on several occasions so frequently
I've been using the oekaki tons, ever since it came around.
And the java on this laptop has even been updated recently
and I've used the oekaki tons on here
but still nothing.
Yeah, I got a virus recently, on my actual computer, but it was a generic trojan dropper. Wondering if that MAY have any relevance? o3o;

Well, it's not like there's a guarantee you WILL get it. All of these are just precautionary steps. Personally I think it's better safe than sorry - drawing something isn't quiet as important to me as the information on my computer so that's why I've disabled java and took heed. But if you're willing to take the chance, then that's obviously your call.

Anyway, I think there was a little mix up - this vulnerability in java has been around for eight years but it's really only since roughly August of last year that it's been exploited I believe. Since then they released a patch, in October of last year, but it was incomplete. According to Oracle's website, there's going to be a security patch for Oracle products on the 15, but I don't know if that will cover the problems in Java fully. Java specifically gets a patch on the 19th of February. And yes, you can get more than just ransomware from it. Here's an idea of how big the threat is; so big, that Apple has simply disabled the use of Java on some of their products and won't allow people to use it again until there's a fix.

There's been more coverage on this since yesterday, if anybody is still a little unsure. Just so you know that it's not just Bonus and I worrying about it! This was posted yesterday, along with this, this, and this which have all been posted in the last couple of days. So it's not a small isolated problem at all.

Just got something I want to add on top

Sometimes, when I used video2mp3, it would ask me if I wanted to run java. I clicked yes all those times, but it was ages later that my computer got a virus and died, or even figured that it had a virus. Would these two things be related?

I am sorta confused... There is a hole in the security of Java... And that is dangerous because hackers can put viruses there... Right?! :oops: So no Oekaki in a while?

My girlfriend Evee-Straight had it on her laptop, but something called "Spybot" gets rid of it.

Also, it travels through wifi and other connections, so if your computer gets it, it's likely that your USBs(if plugged in) will get it too, as will other devices sharing the internet.
