....I've uninstalled all of mine and disabled...well there are a few files that are by Oracle still; jxpiinstall and chromeinstall-7u5. Don't think it'll be a problem. My question is, is it mainly going to obscure/torrent/virus infested sites that could put your computer at risk for these malware attacts through the Java platform? I've looked around and it sort of sounds like that.
I ran a quick virus scan with Trend Micro Titanium and it didn't detect anything risky. I recently used the oekaki before reading about this.

you should be fine as long as you have a good fire wall and anti virus thing cause Java is on everything , every site and such

I was just playing a game, that might have Java. I closed it, just to be safe and I wanted to get it off anyways. Right now Im running a quick scan to see if I got infected. Just a question, how do you know if you get infected? Does a thing Pop Up or something?

As long as you have the latest Java updates, and don't click on anything shady, you should be fine. It usually happens when your browser asks you if you want to run the Java applet. In fact, it can't happen unless you click "Run App" in your browser. You can check to make sure that Java asks before it runs in your internet settings (under tools on Internet Explorer and Firefox).
Also, ransomware has been around for some years. No need to stop using Oekaki

Thank you for the re-assurance. That's how I understood it...only after I uninstalled. Oh well, time to re-install.

Well, the latest Java update is infected too apparently. There was a patch released in October of last year but it didn't cover much and they have yet to release the new patched up version. Just because ransomware has been around for years doesn't mean the risks haven't increased recently D:. But yeah, ransomware can get you other places as well. It's just that the risk seems especially high right now.
Anyway, here are a few of my sources (all of them posted in the last couple of days):
here, here, here, and here.
So yeah. I'm not trying to cause anybody to panic or anything (nor is Bonus), and it's not like anybody has to do anything, but it's better to warn people than to leave them in the dark.

I highly doubt many of you have gotten this virus. It's a very high profile virus. If you had it, you wouldn't be on CS. All of your files would be permanently encrypted, and you would either have to cough up about $80 bucks, or download an iso file and burn a boot disk with special software to manually remove the virus. This is just creating a panic. Oekaki is fine, you just need to set Java to ask before running applications.
To check your Java settings:
