Chief continued to fetch the toy. He wondered why Tristan wasn't smiling. Was he not making the boy happy?

Tristen was having a great time, he was just a little shy, and generally kept his face neutral unless something really moved him. He pet Chief, then threw the toy some more.

Chief started going slower. He was panting slightly but still always brought Tristan the toy.

Tristen could tell Chief was tiring, so instead of throwing the toy again he began petting the dog. "Good boy..."

Chief laid down and rolled over to expose his belly. He loved to have his belly rubbed and hoped Tristan would get the hint.
