Wilte wrote:"I'm sorry," Roland murmured carefully, his expression softening as the young fae turned away from him. Her hesitantly spoken words seemed to lack conviction, their effect had aroused both questions and muted, self-declared answers within his mind. However, he'd touch no more on that topic, now regretting he had heedlessly done so in the first place. He should have assumed that her parents had shared a similar fate to his.
How careless and clumsy of him.
Presently he found himself wondering if now would be the appropriate time to look away, and perhaps spare Tenshi some self-imposed humiliation. He felt not abashed at the current sight of the fae, who clearly appeared to be upset by his mentioning of such a topic. Instead, a cloud of empathy had washed over him, paralyzing him to the spot. Tenshi acted before he, and the situation quickly faded out of his grasp as the wolf before him recollected herself. She'd done so quickly, wasting little time to dwell on whatever pain he'd spurred within her.
Is this why you're so quiet? The brute wondered solemnly for a moment longer, and for once, his good humor had ceased to exist. There was no place for it, here.
Tentatively, the male stepped closer to Tenshi, his face giving little more away than understanding.
"I know how that must feel." His voice had dropped in volume, losing its always-positive taint and adopting more of business-like seriousness as he said next, "I know. .waking up every morning expecting to them to be there with you, and then realizing its but a dream. Wishing. .it could have been me." He paused, his gaze now elsewhere, following the stirrings of dry leaves upon the floor in the autumn breeze. "But it wasn't. And I'm glad, now, because," only his eyes flicked up to her face, studying her reaction,
"I've met you."
The words were said with no romantic undertones, but rather, matter-of-factly.
Before Tenshi had a chance to form her own interpretation, he snatched up what he could save from the conversation. He grinned sheepishly, his tail raising in the air as if they hadn't discussed the matter of their pasts at all. A happier atmosphere was restored almost instantly as Roland nonchalantly trudged the few steps to the elks horns, sniffing them without reason."I don't have many friends, after all," he added quickly, in a brighter -- his usual -- tone.

It was deeply saddening to think about loosing the two that raised and loved you since birth. When Roland said the last part, she looked at him with a new found excitement in her chest. Had she finally found an actual friend? A real friend? Tenshi grinned slightly. Finally, she had finally found a friend!
