{I just started this so their isn't much to it. For those who watch NCIS the character Kelly is Gibbs daughter, I change it so she lives and ends up in an orphange. His 1st wife Shannon is a witch, but he didn' know it. If you want to know more, your going to have to read on.
Kelly wandered her room. Well, it wasn’t exactly her room. It was hers and Lily’s. Kelly’s few possessions were scattered across the floor, and her frienenemy Lily glared at her from her bed. Somehow Kelly had manged to make her possessions fly across the room, and Kelly was convinced she was hallucinated. Actually, that happened to her a lot since the flash. The car crash was just a cover up, but Kelly didn’t really know what had happened. Sure she had witnessed it, but that didn’t make her think she was any less crazy. She swears she could have seen a flash of green light, and a man standing over them. But she thought she was crazy. She could hardly remember her 1st name, she couldn’t remember her last name, and was positive is she told someone that it wasn’t a car accident she would be sent to a mental home. At this point, even without telling them she was going to be sent to a mental home.
“Lily, I swear I don’t know how that happened!” Kelly exclaimed. “One minute there on my bed, the next there across the room, I didn’t touch them.”
“Kelly, if you’re going to lie to me, say something realistic.” Lily said crossly. “No way the just ‘Flew’,” she put an emphases on flew, “across the room.” Lily rolled her eyes. “Now could you please pick this up?!”
Kelly muttered something under her breath, but went to pick them up anyway. She was mad at Lily, for many things, not just what happened today. Next things she knew, Lily was hanging upside down for the ceiling shrieking. “What the heck happened?” Kelly yelled over Lily’s cries. But before she could answer, Lily was laying back on her bed, shaking uncontrollably. One of the women who worked at the orphanage hurried in wondering why Lily was shrieking. As she tried to get Lily to say what happened Kelly looked around the room wondering if she was hallucinating again. Eventually Lily found her words. “All I was doing was asking Kelly to pick up her things.” She sobbed. “And and, the next thing I knew, I was hanged upside down by the ceiling, as if, by” She whispered the last word so it was barely audible. “magic.”
The women, Miss Clarke told Lily sternly, “You have been reading too many fantasy novels. You’re imagining things. There is no magic.” Lily nodded like the good little girl she was believing whatever she was told. Kelly hated her for that. Miss Clarke finally seemed to notice Kelly, “Kelly, Did you see anything?” She asked her the tone of her voice suggesting she thought it was Kelly. Kelly shook her head and Miss Clarke made a tut tut noise. “Are you sure?” She asked again her voice making it clear she thought Kelly was lying.
“No.” Kelly said allowed. “My back was turned, I was picking up my things.” Kelly told her.
“Kelly!” She said sharply. “You have caused enough trouble without lying, and not just today. Remember last week’s rubber band war?” Kelly stifled a laugh and nodded. Last week they had been sorting supplies and Kelly had started shooting rubber bands at people. That earned her extra chores.
“But Miss Clarke,” Kelly started. “I swear-” She was going to add more but Miss Clarke cut her off with a sharp look and a snap in her voice.
“Make no mistake Kelly, Ms. Rarmer will be hearing about this. Soon.” Miss Clarke said glaring down at her. Ms. Rarmer was the runner of the orphanage Kelly lived in, the Appropriate Social Orphanage. To Kelly, it seemed like Ms. Rarmer had it in for her. Unlike Lily, Kelly didn’t spend her time trying to be a goody-good, but tried to enjoy her time, as bad as the place may be.
Sure they feed her and give her clothes, but it wasn’t the best place to grow up. Kelly had been there since she was eight, or that was as near as they could figure. Kelly had arrived in tattered clothes, off the streets. For a while she was withdrawn from the rest of them. She had told Ms. Rarmer that her parents were in a car crash, her name was Kelly, but she couldn’t remember her last name. Ms. Rarmer had taken her in, given her the same clothes as everyone else, a simple navy blue dress. The Navy Blue reminded Kelly of something, but couldn’t figure out what, so she had bushed it to the back of her mind.
Kelly looked at Miss Clarke, “I didn’t do anything!” She yelled. “Tell her Lily.” She looked at Lily.
“I honestly don’t think she did.” Lily whispered. That seemed to carry a lot with Miss Clarke and she left with a tut tut and walked swiftly out.
Kelly said to Lily. “Thanks.” Lily just nodded. Kelly went back to picking up her things. 7 of her dresses and a few books were the scattered objects across the floor. After putting her dresses in the closet and her books in the drawer she sat down on her bed. Kelly spent the time until dinner staring at Lily’s bunk above her. Kelly and Lily didn’t say anything, but Lily whimpered a little.
When the dinner bell rang Kelly and Lily went down to the main room for dinner. The food was an awful lot like cafeteria food. Like she didn’t have enough of that at school. Kelly at the food anyway, it was as good as it was going to get. Kelly sat alone; Lily sat on the other side of the room. Dinner was usually quite, which Kelly didn’t like but meals were the only places she didn’t cause casos. Kelly ate the meat underneath the gravy. Kelly had learned not to care. Dinner was almost 100% noiseless. After dinner Kelly went back to her bedroom. After grabbing a book out of her drawer she went to her bunk. She had read the book so many times, that the hard cover book’s cover was about to fall off, and some of the pages were torn. The book was A Wrinkle In Time. Kelly read the book, getting lost in a world that wasn’t her own, that only a book could do. As usually Kelly feel asleep in the middle of it.
Her usual nightmare arose from her dream. She was in a car, talking to her mother, her Beautiful red-haired mother. She was telling Kelly something important, Kelly couldn’t hear the words, but could tell by the expression that it was important. Then her mother tensed, and pushed Kelly down protecting her. Suddenly, green light flashed, the car went spinning and her mother’s dead body was covering her, the car in ruins and her clothes were tattered. What happened after the green light scared Kelly most, the high pitched laugh. Kelly wandered off tears streaming down her face, and no one noticed her wandering off after people saw the crash.
Kelly woke up, cold sweat all over her body. Lily was fast asleep above her, and the Monday morning was fresh, sun not quite risen. Kelly glanced at the clock. 6:40. Kelly got up anyway, even if they weren’t supposed to get up for another 5 minutes. She looked at herself in the mirror, an 11 year old girl, long red hair, and plain skin. She then walked to the closet, took her dress it, got dressed, and made her bed. The alarm went off and like every morning Lily almost fell out of bed. Kelly giggled and brushed her hair, and braided it down her back. Lily grumbled at Kelly which only made her giggle more. After they both had gotten ready they went down to breakfast. Kelly got some toast and went somewhere away from Lily. Everyone in the room was glume, school day, and even if it was the last day of school. Everyone seemed to get teased, well all the girls anyway. The boys at school didn’t seem to care, but the girls did. Kelly had no friends and was contently miserable, and spent an awful lot of time in the library, where the popular chic never went. Kelly thought they could barely read. After breakfast everyone went back upstairs, and got their school supplies. Everyone there walked to school, it was close enough. Everyone was just glad it was the last day of school, but life was just as bad without school. Kelly thought her birthday was tomorrow. The day she turned eleven. Just let the day begin.
Kelly arrived at school and stuck her stuff in her locker. Then Chloe decided to pay her a visit. Chloe pinned Kelly against the locker, pushing her hard. Kelly didn’t do anything, didn’t even cry out in pain. “Whata gonna do, orphan?” She whispered in Kelly’s ear. Kelly didn’t say anything. Kelly never gave her any satisfaction. Chloe kicked her in the shin, and Kelly winced, but didn’t say anything. Because they were in school Chloe couldn’t do anything more, but still Kelly was made. Chloe cried out in pain, even though Kelly didn’t touch her. “What did you do you scamp?” Chloe exclaimed. Her hands looked red like they had been burned. “You witch!” Kelly didn’t know what she meant but didn’t have time to ask. They bell rang and Chloe and her little gang left. Kelly walked with her head down to class. Class was dull as the teacher was still trying to teach them. He wasn’t having much success. Kelly spent the whole time doodling as Chloe glared at her from across the room.
As the teacher keep telling them the same thing over and over, and no one was paying attention he gave up. Letting them play games the rest of class, Kelly sat in her usual corner a library book in her hands. Under the teachers watchful eyes Kelly knew Chloe wouldn’t try anything, but knew as soon as lunch was out she was once more going after Kelly.
The bell rang for lunch and Kelly hightailed it out of there. She headed towards the cafeteria intending to stay there for the entire lunch period when she fell flat on her face. Chloe had left before her and stuck her foot out. Kelly tumbled a few feet then stopped, Chloe standing over her. “What do you want?” Kelly asked as defiantly as she could from her position on the floor.
“Payback, witch.” Chloe answered with a snarle.
“I didn’t do anything.” Kelly told her looking up at her. She could see Chloe clearly, could see the whites of her eyes because of how close she was. Ever heard save by the bell? What about saved by the principal, because that is exactly what happened, Principal Nomer, a woman who “kindly took in the orphans to the school.” Kelly disliked her, but Principal Nomer loved Chloe.
“What’s going on?” She asked in a brisk fashion, looking at Chloe leaning over Kelly. Chloe immediately changed tactics.
“Kelly fell, Principal Nomer.” Chloe answered quickly, fixing a smile on her face. “I was just helping her up.” And to prove her point, Chloe grasped Kelly’s hand, and pulled her up. Principal Nomer left looking satisfied. Chloe looked around to check no one else was coming, the grasped Kelly’s notebook and hit her across the face with it. Kelly felt her eyes burning with tears, and she turned on the spot and ran. Kelly was about to cry, hated everyone who hated her, and couldn’t help imagine Chloe boiled in water. Chloe normally did this in front of a crowd, but would satisfy for just telling people. Everyone seemed to hate Kelly, and loved seeing her publicly humiliated. Kelly knew she would humiliate her once more before school was out, and this time in front of everyone. She knew it would be on the grounds, but out of any teachers sight. This time she would be out for blood.
Kelly was right. As soon as school was out, Chloe and her little friends, Emily and Liddy, came to hunt her down. As hard as Kelly tried to get off the school grounds, Emily and Liddy both grabbed one of Kelly’s arms and picked her up. Kelly struggled, but as they were already outside no teacher came to her aid. Kelly knew what was coming next. A big group of kids were standing in a circle, ready to watch Kelly get beat up. Emily and Liddy held on to Kelly as one punch after the other came her way. Her nose started bleeding, and tears threated to overcome her as she took hit after hit, and heard and saw all the other kids laughing at her. After Kelly was bruised, bleeding and scraped, Emily and Liddy put her down, Chloe looked triumphant, and the kids around her got one more good laugh at Kelly. The group left leaving Kelly alone lying on the ground, actually sobbing now. Her dress in tatters, and nose bleeding she made her way slowly back to the orphanage.
Lily was standing by the door looking cross as Kelly approached. “What happened?” She practically screamed as Kelly came into view. Kelly winced at how loud she was but told Lily what happened. Lily put an arm around Kelly. “So sorry.” She whispered in Kelly’s ear. Kelly nodded and they made their way towards their room. Kelly cleaned up, changed sure they were going to kill her about her dress. She had ruined 3 that month already, but the 2nd wasn’t her fault. That time was the rubber band war, and instead of using rubber bands, Narma decided to use some scissors. Her dress ended up with cuts and Kelly was the one who got in trouble. Not fair as usually as Kelly thought many times that week. Life was never fair to Kelly, as she was the trouble making, goof of kid, making life difficult for her. She didn’t care though. I might as well enjoy myself. Kelly thought as she thought about The Rubber Band War. She knew hiding the fact that she got into a fight would be easy until they came to pick up laundry. Why bother hiding it though? Kelly wondered. She knew the answer. Because she didn’t fight. She got beaten up. Not so deep down Kelly knew the difference, and wanted not to even bother explaining.
When at last it was time for dinner, Kelly and Lily made their way down, just like any other evening. Everyone ate in silence just like any other evening and for once, Kelly actually was considering making some “fun”. But her definition of fun was much different from other peoples. Kelly’s definition of fun usually involved some sort of chaos. As she ate Kelly was smiling, plotting an interesting surprise for dinner tomorrow.
Kelly woke up early they next morning. It’s my birthday. She thought to herself and started whisper singing. “Happy Birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday dear me, happy birthday to me.” Kelly had a wonderful soprano voice, and loved to sing, but was really, really shy about it. No one knew she liked to sing, or so she thought. Several times Lily had walked in on her, but never said anything. As Kelly sang, a large man was standing outside the orphanage, unnoticed to everyone but he was waiting for the minute he could walk into the orphanage, and talk to Kelly. This man’s name was Hagrid, and he worked at Hogwarts.
