Serena didn't really realize what happened before KC had left again, as silent as he came. The girl bit her lip as she walked back to the bench, picking up her mask to put it back on. Walking through the maze of hedges she knew so well, she thought about what had happened. The girl was even more confused. Honestly, this goodbye had been harder for her as any other. She knew there was a big chance he would break his promise . The princess walked through the garden for a while before sitting down on another bench, burying her head in her hands again. She shouldn't have come. This night had only made things harder. And she couldn't talk about it with anyone.

crystal laughed softly at the two "I can see the reseblance in you now, i speak of Prince Alexander your highness" she said answering his question. She to a swift stride to her left and puled ehr hands to her chest "he is the most, *sigh* amazing , kind, honest gentleman i have ever met" she said dreamily. She swirled "And such a fine dancer, adn charming as he is, he could woo any woman" she added sadly, he hands lowered to her lap and she sighed "It would never happen" she murmured.

"Mother and Father don't care where I go or what I do," she shrugged. "Because I'm a spare. All they need is Serena and Aiden and their pretty little plan works out to a T. Serena's the only daughter they needed." She sighed again. "You know better than I do that boys are what kings and queens want. You're much more important to them than I could ever dream to be," she replied. "Maybe that's why Serena and I fight...."

Nick frowned, his forehead was etched with deep lines of worry. Arabella wasn't normally so... negative. She was normally a happy girl and a very positive person to be around. "Lizzie, don't say that about yourself. Father and Mother may not love you very much, but know that I and, all your siblings, no matter how close you may be to them, love you and will always love you. Liz, I may have been born a male but that does not make me any more important than you. Although we have all been brought up in a society, in a family that treats males with a bit more respect than females, you should know that you aren't a spare. You are special and unique in your own way. Males may have more opportunities open to them and have a slightly higher status, but you are a very lucky and important person, remember that. Serena might be the only daughter Father and Mother really needs, but think about this, if they didn't want another child, then why would you be here? They might not show it but deep inside, they love you very much. Anyways, you are so much luckier than Serena in some ways. You are not forced into a marriage you don't want, you have your own freedom, the ability to be able to do whatever you want. Serena has a very heavy weight on her shoulders, she must bear it for the rest of her life. She is one of the chosen ones that unite two kingdoms into one once more. She must be a good ruler and will one day have to bear children that will rule over the kingdoms. She must provide heirs, be good to her people, live with someone she may not really love, while you are not bound to a marriage that you might not like. But most importantly remember this. You will always, no matter what happens, have a very special spot here," Nick placed his right hang over his heart, "In my heart as a sister. I will always love you as a brother and a friend, will always support you in any decision you might make." Nick smiled gently and then pulled Arabella into a hug. Everything he said was the truth, afterall, he was cursed to always say the truth.

A softer breeze blew past them and Nick's side fringe fell in front of his right eye. He pulled away from Arabella and used a hand to push his fringe out of the way. He looked over to Crystal and smiled at her. "Yes, I do suppose we look quite similar, though her hair is so much prettier than mine." He laughed and then looked over at Crystal who seemed so very sad. "Prince Alexander you say?! The second eldest Prince of Avalon?" Nick sighed. Crystal looked so wistful at the thought that a relationship between a Prince and a Maid would never be able to happen. That was true, in this society, it would never be accepted, but he couldn't bear to see Crystal so sad. "Crystal, although it may not be exactly acceptable, but know that anything would be able to happen." He walked over to her and then put a hand on her shoulder. "Anything can happen," he repeated.

{ Trex and DeerInYourHeadlights - I suppose by then the masquerade will be over. Perhaps they will be traveling/hosting another event, and that could be when Nick gets kidnapped. I'm pretty sure I'll be available the 22nd-26th. And I'll try to keep you updated when something huge happens, or just regularly. Be prepared to return with a full inbox! xP

Drawing circles in the dust with his finger, KC watched from the turret window as the guests started to depart. It would take forever to get everyone out of the palace, but he was sure they would all be gone by sunrise. Hopefully. He needed to make an audience with his father, to speak about Serena. Or rather, how he could visit the Avalon palace. He'd figure something out. Anything to see her again.

According to the chiming of the tower bell, it was midnight. Supposedly, magical things happened in the deepest hour of night. One of his old nursemaids had told him stories when he was a toddler, about mythical creatures and such. He'd never believed her, but knew that there was a true moral to each story. He remembered one very clearly. It was about a little boy who wanted a pet dragon, but there was no way that his parents could afford one. The only way to get a dragon was to either pay dozens of gold coins, or to find one yourself. And so the boy set out to find one of this magnificent creatures, only to get stumped each turn. Although his parents doubted him, the boy finally managed to find a dragon, but by then he was no longer a boy. He had become a man. Yet during the search, he had lost everything. He had no home, no food, no family, for his parents had died away. He was alone with his dragon, but he was happy.

He had always thought that the boy was greedy, but maybe he wasn't. Perhaps he longed for a dragon everyday, as KC longed for Serena. And through each toil, the boy persevered. And so KC would persevere.

Arabella sighed as her brother embraced her. "You always know just what to say," she smiled after he pulled away from her. "You are amazing, my brother, I don't know what I would do without you." She smiled again, keeping her thoughts in her head this time. But sometimes, there are fears that even you can't quiet, she thought. Who would love a second rate princess, an ungrateful, tomboy, prankster, second rate princess? I don't understand how there is hope for me. But I'll keep my chin up for you, brother. She turned and rested a hand on Crystal's arm. "Oh so that's the name of your young gentleman," she laughed a bit. "And I prince at that. Well, Crystal, I don't see any reason why you and him wouldn't go well together. After all, love knows no bounds."

Serena bit her lip as she thought, trying to calm them down. She forced herself not to think of KC, but she had never been good at forcing people, including herself. Noticing the ball had almost coming to it's end, Serena decided to go look for Nick. He wanted her to travel with him and Tristan after all.

While she thought of that, her mind focussed on Aiden. She hadn't seen him, and was still concerned about him. Serena hoped nothing bad had happened to Aiden, since they were very close. She just had to stop herself to think of sad things. The girl pictured herself images of lakes, the forest and other nice spots she had seen. Of the cool summer breeze, the chirping birds, just in an attempt not to burst out yelling and cursing. But somehow everything lead back to KC.

About five years ago, Serena and KC loved it to run around in the forest, exploring things and find the mysteries of nature. While their brothers played some kind of war game, and their sisters had a tea party - oh she hated those - she and KC ran around the forest. One day they had found a wounded bird, and took care of him. Serena giggled softly to herself as she had seen the face of her older servant when she and KC came back with a bleeding bird. The servant had became mad at her because her dress was all dirty, but Serena simply replied with the question if he had still minded it if she had rescued his dog instead of the bird. Such memories were those which she appreciated.

Deep in thought, the princess bumped into her younger sister, Arabella. She looked up, slightly desorientated for a moment. "Oh, Sorry, sister." she replied mumbling, only looking up to see her brother. "I'm sorry I became mad at you." She told Arabella. She had enough things on her mind. She didn't want to also have an argue with her sister.

"No Serena it's my fault," she said looking back at the ground. "I forgot you and I have different ideas of fun. We're two very different people, and we're bound to have our differences." She smiled a bit, and sighed. You and me, she thought. The heir and the spare. Life can't get any worse. She looked over at Nick and Crystal. Then again, she thought, smiling at them, her closest friends. There are the people worth living for...

Serena bit her lip and nodded at her. "It is just, this place is so different to me as to you. I understand we are different, for sure. But I'm tired of us arguing. You're my sister. I appreciate you, I love you." she smiled softly at her. "And I don't want us to grow more apart..."

The crackle of sparks from each bonfire drifted up into the sky, the orange crisps turning to ashes. Tristan had asked around for Prince Aiden, but had not received positive news. Though he wasn't sure if they understood who exactly he was looking for. Many peasants were already drunk, yelling and slurring over the gypsy music. Entering a bustling tavern, the prince slowly made his way toward the bartender. The man had a mustache, along with a beard, and was in a hearty discussion with one of his many customers. Not wanting to interrupt them, Tristan leaned against one of the dark wooden beams holding up the ceiling. He was grateful for the costume he wore, for it disguised his rank as a prince. No one recognized him or asked any questions, and he liked it that way.

"How can I help yer, laddy?" the bartender asked, turning towards the prince with a cheerful smile. He looked quite sober.

Leaning forward, so that his elbows rested on the counter, Tristan asked, for the twentieth time, "My master has sent me to search for his friend, Prince Aiden Lee Kross, of Elyadon. Have you seen or heard of him?" To keep his identity secret, he spoke in an accent the peasants had. The man frowned, concentrating in thought, and finally shaking his head no.

"I'd remember if me saw a princey, lad. But I 'avn't tonight. Anythin else I can get fer ya?" he asked, already turning to his next customer. The disguised prince shook his head, and weaved his way back to the exit.

"Serena, we're not going to grow further apart," she smiled and took her sisters hands. "Only distance can separate us, sister. We are family and family is something that never goes away." She smiled once more before embracing her sister. "I'm not going anywhere," she assured her.
