Aspen was pleased when she finally spotted someone she could call a friend- or acquaintance- or project partner. She disdainfully realized that the only person she remembered- aside from Marie- was Lake. He had only moved in a few weeks ago, but he was the closest thing she had to a friend at the moment, and she was going to jump at the opportunity. She was feeling rather awkward standing to the side with no one to talk to. With a little effort, she weaved through the crowd and managed to tap his shoulder. "Hey, Lake!" she greeted, her lipstick-covered lips spreading into a small smile.

Lake turned when he felt a tap on the shoulder. He felt his own lips curling upwards in a warming smile, although nothing compared to Aspen's radiant one. "Aspen." He nodded, "Good to see a familiar face." The young man actually felt relief wash over him, which let some of the tension drain from his body. Having Aspen here would mean he wouldn't be wandering around trying to join in other people's conversation.
Lake was actually more then pleased, he let himself think. Aspen was the closet person he had to a new friend at the time. They had almost all their classes together and were actually going to be starting a science lab together soon.
His thoughts quickly flashed to his first day in science class, when he sat next to her, close to the front of the room. He clearly remembered Aspen's suspicious hazel gaze as he dropped his backpack on the floor and took a seat next to her. She had introduced herself before quickly going back to her work with long dark brown hair spilling across the desks.

Aspen laughed breathily, nodding her agreement. "Yeah," she said, turning her head to examine the somewhat crowded space. She focused her gaze back on Lake, still smiling slightly. "I thought I was going to suffocate. There are so many people just begging for my attention." She said sarcastically. "Hey, we're working on that science project together right?" After meeting Lake in many of her classes, partnering with him, and just simply talking with him, she supposed a friendship was in order. Three weeks should have been enough time for that. It was typical for Aspen to resort to something like school for a conversation. It was something constant and reliable, because not once had the school done anything that she should question. She appreciated that.

He nodded, his black hair falling over one eye. "I believe we get to chose the project." He commented, "As long as it has something to with biology of course." Lake grinned and also cast a glance around at everyone else. Every so often he caught a few words of other conversations or watched people move from group to group.
He didn't think talking about school was that interesting, but he didn't mind what topic they explored as long as he wasn't wandering around like a lost puppy.

Danny, sensing the girls preoccupation, slipped away from her as soon as they'd entered the room. It was a nice place, really, although he could tell that the wiring job on the lamps was substandard. They'd never pass inspection on a space-station, let alone the tunnels of Luna. He almost snorted with disdain, before remembering himself, and where he was - a place where a hole in the wall wouldn't let the air out with explosive force. Glancing over at the birthday girl, he saw she was surrounded by people wanting her attention. He nodded absent-mindedly, fingered the card in his pocket, and continued glancing around the room, looking for someone to talk to. Ah, there's someone playing with her phone, he thought, looking at Jamie. Clear sign of boredom. Not someone I recognize, but what the hey. He strolled on over to say hello, and did so. "Hey! I'm Danny."


Marie seemed a bit baffled by Kareem's attention. He was still talking, "So, not like a video game? What's it like?"

Distractedly, she replied honestly, "It's much like travelling to somewhere else, for real. It's like, like waking up in a dream, except the retention rates are vastly better than a true dream-state."

Halim's little brother nodded, pleased at this successful bit of conversation. "Sounds like fun. So, you've been here before?"

The blond girl was surprised and a bit alarmed by the question. Her blue eyes widened, and a nervous smile flicked onto her face. "Yes." She looked at Halim, apparently oblivious of his brother, discussing Biology with Gabry, flicked her eyes back and away from Kareem to Shiloh's cautious approach. "Shiloh! I'm so pleased you could make it. I wasn't sure you'd accept my invitation, I mean, we've only taken an English class together."

You probably wouldn't have enjoyed that." she chuckled, a small grin tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Should we find Marie?" she inquired, her wandering gaze soon returning to Lake.[center]
