I'll write the intro for you guys now!

Also, for the plot, I need someone who has ties to law-enforcement (father, mother, brother, friend)! Anyone who is interested in that, PM me. :3 Taken!

The atrium of the shopping center buzzed with activity: adults picking up Neu-tube transfers of mail from other cities, little kids goofing around with a couple of small dogs, and serious shop-owners pretended to be carefree and sociable.

The light of the setting sun gleamed through the many windows set into the vaulted ceiling, and turned the walls of the shops into a dusky orange-red hue. Advertisements blared almost non-stop over the speakers, and glittering holographic displays showed enormous mirages of people biting into delicious burgers with moans of delight over the deliciousness of the food.

One shop wasn't getting much business today. People walked right by it with a puzzled look, shook their heads, and continued onto more interesting destinations. Simulacrum - Quality Artificial Reality! Your comfort and safety our concern. Artificial Reality? What on earth was that?

Those words were nearly, to the letter, what was going through Danny's head as he stood in front of the shop, frowning at the scrap of paper he'd written the address on. What a weird place to have a birthday party... he was already having second thoughts about coming. He hardly knew this girl, Marie Kurone (although she was pretty, which was a point in her favour). He hesitated in the doorway, indecisively.

Gabrielle strolled leisurely into the party that Marie was supposed to be having. They were great friends, and Gabry always counted on being able to come. She hardly gave a second glance at the bou that was sanding at the door.

[Noel]

Abel was standing behind Marie; he had been happy to be allowed to attend his sister's party, but all her friends were older then him and he wasn't sure what to make of them. When the first girl entered, he decided focusing a newly-pilfered bag of popcorn was a better way to spend his time. Munching a handful, Abel silently sat into a chair to watch the people's arrivals.

Halim glanced up from his phone as Kareem tapped his shoulder anxiously.
"Heavenly father above," Halim sighed for perhaps the sixth time that last hour, "if you want to go talk to her, go and do it." The pair of them had been in the party for a good twenty minutes now -- Halim because he was actually invited and Kareem because his little brother had begged -- begged -- Halim to allow him to come along. Kareem was the one with the disturbingly obsessive crush on the girl. Not him. He went back to his phone and continued to disregard the activity around him.

Shiloh looked down at her phone nervously as she came to a stop in front of the large building that the email had directed her to. Her expression seemed quite hesitant, as she had gotten an invitation to a birthday party from a girl that she scarcely knew at all. Given that she was new to the area, it was no surprise that she wasn't acquainted with all the people her age, but had it been an accident that she had been invited in the first place? Somehow, she didn't want to believe that. She wanted to believe that someone had invited her - that they were going to be different than the kids from her last neighborhood.

She caught sight of a boy close to her age standing near the large doorway, and she decided to jump on the chance to actually talk to something. Given that he too had an invitation in his hand, she suspected that he had been invited to the same party. After what seemed a few moments, she gathered up her courage, and approached him. "Hi," she said nervously, her face coloring with slight blush as she started a conversation. She wasn't really accustomed to talking to people. "Are you... invited to Marie's birthday too?"

The room inside the shop was clearly designed for parties: comfortable couches, low tables, bright paintings on the walls... the observant eye might notice, however, that the light-fixtures were somewhat rough and out of place, and the walls hadn't been painted recently. It looked a bit... thrown together, actually.

Marie stood up from her seat, throwing her arms open with a cry of, "Gabry, girly! Thanks for coming!" She pushed a strand of blond curly hair out of her face and walked towards Gabry for a hug. She was wearing an iridescent blue top, white jeans patterned with butterfly wings, brilliant cyan eye-shadow, and a huge smile.

Danny turned with a smile as Shiloh spoke to her. "Yes! Yes, I am." She was kinda cute, with that pale blush on her cheeks. Prettier than any makeup, really. "I've only just chatted with her though." His accent, still noticeable after years downside, blunted and smoothed his words out like butter on bread.

((Again, the only reason I'm posting longer stuff is because I'm trying to manage NPCs. So, yeah. Short. >->
And yes, Danny probably will be flirting with everyone, the scoundrel.))

As she stepped closer to the supposed place of the party, Aspen was seriously considering leaving. She didn't know the birthday girl very well. Had they bumped into each other at a store? She couldn't remember. The building itself seemed odd, too. However, when provided with the option to get out of the house and away from her chaotic family, the choice was obvious. She stepped inside with minimal hesitancy and looked around with a look of baffled curiosity on her face.

It was slightly reassuring to Shiloh, that this boy didn't know the birthday girl very well, either. At least, she didn't feel like she was the only one there that didn't know her. By the sound of his voice, it was apparent that this boy had an accent - perhaps he was from another country? Well, he was cute. In a younger-brother kind of way, though. He was at least a year younger than her - maybe more. She was highly amused by the way he smoothed his voice out, as she could see that he was probably trying to flirt.

"Oh, me too. I mean - we've never really spoken very much," she responded, somewhat awkwardly. In her free hand, she held a gift that was brightly wrapped, and she glanced around, seeing that more people were arriving. "Well do you know where she is now?" It would be best to get over introductions early on - if Marie had sent the invitation by mistake, Shiloh wanted to know now, so she could leave.
