I watched The Fellowship of the Ring with my friend last night, and that was the first time I was ever able to fully appreciate Boromir's relationship with Merry and Pippin. There were little things I saw, like how Boromir chose Merry and Pippin over the other hobbits when they were in the Mines of Moria jumping over the gap on the crumbling bridge, and how when they were in the boats Boromir was with Merry and Pippin.
I guess when you pay attention to the little things like that, it made Boromir's death a little more sad for me. :')

This happens to me every time I watch the movies. I always notice new little details that I hadn't picked up on before. I haven't really noticed this yet, but I'll look out for it the next time I watch it. Although I did notice the more obvious "bondage", if that's the right term, when Boromir is teaching Merry and Pippin how to fight with swords. ^^

I always thoght that in the boat/ Moria scenes it was t keep the ring and frodo closer t o Aragorn as Aragorn is more rresistant to it's power than Boromir.

On the extended edition Boromir is shown play fighting with Merry and Pippin after battle training. He was laughing and smiling.

I noticed this the first time I watched it, but just that alone wasn't really enough to "tug on my heartstrings" I suppose- I guess what I'm saying is noticing all of the smaller details of their relationship is what really did me in. ^__^
