this is Nemo.. His left eye and fin both also have significant damage.. He was kind of a pity buy since he has so much physical damage.. Hoping the others will be nicer to him now in a less stressful environment.. So far he hasnt gained anymore injury since we brought him home!

is he what i think he is? a red belly piranna? if so be warned if you tell people you have a piranna you will get some strange looks!

He's very active right now, but i don't have that. is it like a stress coat?

Melafix is an antiseptic. At this point it probably wouldn't help much if at all. I would suggest aquarium salt and keeping the water warm. Unless he got some internal injuries from the fall, that should work wonders without having to add any unnecessary chemicals.

Thank you so much! he seems fine. the water is warm anyway between 74 and 80 degrees.

thes also something i noticed with him when he was in the store. the ends of his fins are a dull brown, almost as if a leaf that is dying. is there something wrong or is he just born that way?

What kind of fish is he, again? A betta? It could just be his coloring. Maybe he is just pale from stress.

Sometimes, brown tips of fins can be a sign of early finrot.
What kind of fish is it again?

Also, I'd like to share an exciting update on my halfmoons. They spawned for me today. LOTS of eggs!

Yes, he is a beta in a ten gallon tank with the last cory at the pet shop and a kuhli loach that likes to burrow. they are young yet, but once the new shipment of cories come in, he's going in the big tank with more of his kind. The same with the black kuhli loach. they were all in the same tank.

Anyway. Yeah he's a beta. a male veil tail he's red with mixtures of an icy blue lines in his fins and green and blue scales.
the tips are a brownish black color and he doesn't extend them unless he's at the top, but i think he's still getting used to my set up. He hasn't flared at anything.

I did take the snail out as well. My filter is a fluval mini.

Alrighty, here's a project (somewhat I guess) for Dakotak... :) I know you own goldfish and I've seen how much care you give them... It makes me all fuzzy feeling. Sadly, I don't think Merlin will make it past the summer, his time is nearing it's end. He's amazingly nearly seven years old, I think he's one of the oldest living betas ever, and while he looks pretty good as far as health, I don't know if he'll make it to his seventh birthday (Which is on April 20th.) so I've decided to start gathering what I need for my next tank so I have it all ready to go. Dakotak, I know you're good with goldies and I was curious if you could compile a list of the best things to have. Right now the tank's a standard 10G but if absolutely needed, I'm sure I could get a 20G... Anything from plants, to Gravel, to Decor, to food. Also, when I do get my goldies, how many should I get for just a 10G tank? I'm sure I could look up everything, but I want everything to be perfect, and I think it's better to ask someone that I know takes good care of their fishees ^_^

Sorry if I'm not posting often. I've got a few things going on in real life. I've also been having week-long migraines so bad that I cannot see. I hope everyone understands.

Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe
