The Story
He rose from his spot on the ground; looking all around him. He heard something coming through the brush. His forked tough shot out; instinctively scenting the air around him for any unknown scents. Thats the first time he smelled her. A female of his kind!
Of course he knew that most of his kind traveled alone unless they were mated or lived in a small group. This one was in neither of those cattagories. She was a loner and he could gather from her scent that she had never been mated; but he knew that him getting with her would be a death sentence for her.
He still remembered his last mate's death cry as Ragnarock crushed her spine killing her instantly. After that insident he had tried to stay away from females for awhile, but now it appeared that he would be found by one.
When she stepped out of the shadows his breath hitched in his throat. She was beuatiful! A pearl white coat only enhanced by the scales it hid beaneath it which glinted causing a rainbow effect on her fur. Her eyes were the most elegant he had seen on his own kind. They were sapphire pools of emotion ringed by her pearly scales.
It was love at first sight and before he knew it he had ambled over to her to touch her nose with his. She blushed when he did this and he knew she felt as he did. That was what made him stay with her. They bonded over the next few weeks and finally became mates; but the tragedy struck...
Artic had gone out to find prey for both of them but when he got back Nia was gone. There were traces of blood and fur everywhere, which was a definable sign of a struggle. He smelled the scent of his enemy and knew who took Nia; Ragnarock! He ran out of the cave and towards Ragnarock's lair. He wouldn't loose Nia; even if it killed him she would live. His determination seemed to give his feet wings and he got there before he knew it.
He ran into the mouth of Ragnarock's lair, which was rather easy since the male was a loner, and saw Nia unconscious in a corner. Her blood flowing freely from several scratches. He looked around the cave for Ragnarock and not seeing him he went in and ran to Nia's side. He sniffed her to find out if she was alright.
He discovered hat she had a mere few scraches and something that sent joy rushing through him. Nia was pregnant! He licked her face trying to wake her up so they could leave this face and she slowly awoke.
He didn't see the dark brown/ black septim until he was right on top of him. Ragnarock leaped at Arctic aiming his paws to break Arctic's back but not impale him on the spikes that grew there and thus giving him a chance to deliver the final blow while he was paralyzed. He didn't noticed that Nia had awoken until she hit him knocking him away from Artic.
She landed next to him her stomach facing him him giving him the perfect opportunity to gut her, which he took. Artic's eyes went wide in shock and pain when Nia's blood arced through the air. He narrowed them in anger and greif before leaping at Ragnarock sending him flying through the air only to hit a wall. The arctic went after him, a fight ensued in which there would only be one winner.
Arctic won when he killed Ragnarock by tearing out his throat. Arctic then walked over to Nia, tears flling from his golden eyes at the sight of his beloved bleeding to death. He collapsed at her side.
"Nia?" he whimpered.
She looked up into his his with pools full of pain and grief. She knew she was dying and it pained her to ave to leave him. She knew what she had to say before her time was up.
"Even in death our...pant... even in death our love goes on." she said using the last of her energy to give him that last commforting message before she passed on.
A small group of septim found the cave a week later when they smelled blood and came to investigate. When they looked in they saw a sad sight. Arctic hadn't left the cave when Nia died, instead he went laid at her back with his laying on her and that's how they found him. They told him she was dead and buried her. They fed him like they would a wolf pup because he wouldn't leave even to hunt.
That night he snuck out following the moonbeams to her grave. He dug her up and then kneeling he picked her up. He began carrying her back to their den. He was forced to fight many creatures to get her there. Then he forced himself to dig her grave. Tears of grief flowed down his bloodied cheek as he finished burying her.
He vowed never to love another because he believed her words and knew none would ever replace her.
But is this the end of this tragic tale or only the begginning?
