lol, yea I agree with this. This is why we feed our dogs a small portion of Dimond dog food(beef and rice{aka the blue bag XD}) mixed with rice('human worthy' polished white rice) and horse meat. Yes I said horse meat. We help out alot with a horse rescue, and the lame, and elderly horses gotta go somewhere, and why pay someone to come take the horse just to make dogfood that we have to buy yet again? Besides our dogs love it and we know that it is much more natural for them. Its just the circle of life. processed dog foods are not the greatest, nor is rice, but our dogs adore it, and when we take in overflow dogs from pounds the weight jumps back on them, and it is fairly cheap if the rice is bought in large quantites.

For starters, Corn Syrup is the absolute most ridiculous thing to put in dog food. Most likely just to encourage the dogs to eat it so owners go "he likes it, so I'll buy it for him". Dogs are carnivores, and I see no real meat in that food at all.


When my dog was on Pedigree, he got tons of comments on how nice he looked. He didn't look particularly unhealthy, to the untrained eye.

Most would look at this dog and think he looks like a normal healthy animal


But he wasn't. So going just off one's thoughts and looks alone are not a good way to judge things, some understanding of a dog's nutritional needs based on what they're built to consume (meat) is needed.

Clemmy's owners finally are thinking about switching her food over! She's been eating Beneful, which makes her very gassy and her coat isn't the best. Well, one of her owners just bought a small bag of Taste of the Wild. They're going to 'see how she does on it' before deciding to make the switch permanent. But I'm confident she'll do good. I'm just so happy xD

And considering the mess she made, I'd say Clemmy likes it too (She's trying to pick the TotW out of the Beneful)

HURRAAYY! Hopefully it'll agree with her.. <3 Poops should be smaller within a couple of days. Gas should hopefully go down as well. Coat can take up to 3 months for a major difference, but should be noticeable before the bag runs out. =)

I'm surrey toy giving my dog Sophie Iams healthy natrials, and she likes it (but I do have to add a bit of water to the food for moistness), she is also going great with the grain free aspect of it. Anyways, my parents are making me make some cutbacks on my pet supplies, meaning, unfortunately less expensive food. My dad was thinking of using Iams proactive health because we have used it before, and it is only $28 dollars for a 33lns bag. Do any of you know of a food that is healthy, but not too expensive? Thanks

Skoll is doing well on his EVO. He skipped food this morning and is gnawing on a recreational bone as we speak. He's quite enjoying it too, he can't decide if he wants to chew the bone, pick at the marrow, or shred the meat more.

Kirklands! An ah-mazing food for the price for real. Its found at Cosco or can be ordered online. I think its 30lbs for 30 bucks AND they have an awesome grainfree line.

Beyond Pure, Chicken, from Walmart isn't half bad and what my puppy is on at the moment.


@Jazi: Juniper loves her bones, a lot. She stripes off the meat then goes for the marrow.. xD Today she got wing tips and had no idea what to do with them because they are softer then the beef necks.. ssoo.. She swallowed them whole..

Neeh, after my dog finished the bag of Merrick Grain-free Buffalo my parents decided to go back to Blue Buffalo Lamb and Rice. Pros and cons on this one, because he wasn't really fond of any food except for that one and the Innova Beef and Lamb { that's way too pricey for our budget, according to my parents }. Apparently he likes red meats.

Merrick's original formula for the buffalo variety? He really liked it. But they changed their formula, and he started going off of his food, not really enjoying it and not eating it every time. Same happened with the Blue Buffalo grain-free salmon, and we've found by trying different foods that he doesn't like fish either; in fact, he'll clear a wide berth around it every time it's offered.

Determined that his allergies were probably caused by the Frontline. Apparently, across the country Frontline and similar topical treatments simply weren't holding off the fleas. We went to PetSmart and bought a flea collar and shampoo instead, and that worked a lot better than the Frontline. My theory is that the fleas have become resistant to whatever chemical it is composed of...but after the flea collar, the flea issue disappeared, and my dog stopped constantly licking his armpit and pawpads. Thus, I concluded that the Frontline must have been responsible for his signs of allergies.

My question is, is grain free really better for your dog?
