I voted for slower, but I think with the caveat that it be staggered so not every litter is slow, as you said. Some slow and some fast would suit me more, and I think leave us less "OMG when are the new ones cominnnnggggg" at the end of the month.

It might make it less of a mad scramble too when something turns out to be rare if we've already got a bunch of new pets to be just as excited about.
Eh. Giving it a trial run sounds good to me and see how it goes for everyone. I am glad you asked for opinions rather than just implementing a change though, so thank you for that.

I voted yes; that sort of dead week in between with little-to-no-growths is...well, not to be negative, but it's boring.
As an alternative, and I'm not sure how much trouble this could be, but pets could be released twice as much. (Disclaimer: I'm not asking for more pets! Ohmygosh we have sooo many. <3) I mean, of the pets that are set to release in a month, release half on the 1st, half on the 15th. So if there have been three dog litters created for July, for example, release 2 on the 1st and maybe 1 on the 15th.
I'm not sure if that'd be difficult to code or coordinate, and it's certainly not something to worry about during crazy-busy special-release/holiday months like April, October, or December. But during the less holidayed months, having pre-announced mid-month releases might be a nice thing, and it would certainly clear up the growth timing issue.
Just an idea, but with all of the yes votes, it seems that an alternative is unnecessary. :)

Actually I don't see either option as being accurate.
Maybe it's just me, but what I've seen is, all months up till now (End of May/Start of June) usually had *a* pup grow each day from day 6-13 to puppy then the adults were 15-30, some 35 or 40. It just seems like the earlier months of 2009 through early months of 2010, we had a growth each day (so spoiled!) because when pups weren't growing, rats and butterflies were. TMK, the only waiting period was sometimes at that 1-6 day waiting for puppies to grow, not so bad as we are usually squealing about designs.
Early 2008 though was slow as we sometimes had 2 or 3 pups grow on a single day, leaving that 2-3 day period between pup growths in the middle of the month+ having to wait 40 days for the adult just wasn't as fun to me.

the point isn't to switch all pets back to the old slow growth, it's to switch SOME of them back so that we end up having some litters which do the normal adult at 23 - 30 and some which are adult at 30 - 40 so that the growths are more spread out overall.. the slower growing adults would stretch into the first few days of the new month so that there was actually something going on until the new pups started growing ~ 7 days later

A mixture between the fast growths and slow growths would be great. With pets all growing by the end of the month, it leaves the first week of the next month rather boring. Having one litter slow and one fast (should there be two that month) will help to spread things out and still give us something growing even when the new month comes. For a bit, there, it was the rats holding out to the end and I sort of liked that because we still had something growing. So yes, I totally agreeing with making some of the pets slow growing again. =D
