Palm trees swayed as I swept through the sand. It was a perfect day outside, and I was ready to relax in the sun. Oh I'm sorry, did I not introduce myself? I'm a Flip-Flop. My name is Flip, and my sister's name is Flop.
Right now we're in Florida, a perfect destination for tourists and people who love to lay back all day. Everything is good here. I meet other sandels, watch the clouds, and stay on this beach untill dark almost once every week! But there is one bad thing about this sunny state... The ocean.
It twists and turns, flows and splashes, like a big, turquoise monster. I know that sometimes your just afraid of things you don't know about, but I do know about the dangers of this! I could get lost in the endless blue when my owner's foot slips on a rock below and never see her, or flop again. There's even a possibility there could be monsters in the water! Yes, you heard me, monsters. They can rip me right off a foot and gobble me up! But luckily I'm taken off before it's swimming time. I have never encountered the water before, and I'm definatly not planning on it!
But let's talk about today. I was laying down, enjoying the view when all off a sudden, some water-proof shoes came running up to me. They started talking very fast, and seemed so exited I just couldn't understand what they were trying to tell me and Sis! But I soon realized what horror awaited me as I got up, and started approaching... the ocean.
I gained speed, and the closer I got, the more clear a familier salty smell became. The sand was getting moist in the area I was in now, and I felt like I would sink like through it. Already I was frigtened, and I didn't even get wet yet! Where I normally travel, the sand is hot and dry. But here it was spongey and cool. Flop looked at me with exitment, it was always her dream to go swimming, but I definatly had other thoughts. At the same time the water-shoes were also running next to me, looking just as thrilled as my sister, even though I'm sure they've done this many times before.
My front was dipped in the water, and a cool sensation chilled me. Before I knew it I was completely undetneath the water. I almost floated to the serface several times, but quickly pushed myself down. After a while of getting used to my surroundings, I explored the undersea world by looking around to see strange fish and odd plants.
The experiance wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! I had fun with my sister and new friends, and got to see the amazing and mysterious life under the sea. The only problem was, after all of that, my sister was scared of the ocean! She thinks that she'll float away and get lost, or she'll get gobbled by... monsters? Haha, where in the world did she get that idea?!
