It's been days since someone came into the cellar to feed you; the Bang seems to have changed everything. You sit in darkness in the corner of your cage with the other homeless dogs, wondering what happened to the humans. With the electricity gone, no word from the world upstairs and your food and water supplies soon to run dry, the strongest have decided to dig out through the dirt floor. They've been at it for a while now and if you look at where they started, they are so deep they are no longer visible.
As the hours roll by, you drift in and out of sleep, your hunger starting to consume you. You begin to wonder if you will die in your cage, confined by the concrete walls and chain link fence you were once certain had kept you safe. But then, the one of the diggers emerges from the hole in the floor, panting and covered in mud. "We're through."
You follow the others through the tunnel with excitement, ready to run and breathe the fresh air again, but as you emerge, you notice that things have changed. It's too hot, but you can't see the sun through the dense cloud cover. The air smells like sulfur and as your eyes adjust to the light, you can see that the entire building that once stood over the cellar had been shattered, the bodies of the store dogs and the kennel owner visible through the wreckage. In fact, the entire city seems to have fallen to ruin; the humans have left and their buildings lay crumbling, and any animal that had once lived on the surface seems to have been killed. You and your comrades stare around in bewilderment. "What do we do now?"

The basic premise of this story revolves around all the unwanted, death row, and boarded dogs kept underground in the cellar of a city kennel. While they were downstairs, an atomic bomb was dropped on the city (the dogs can only refer to this as "The Bang;" they don't understand what has happened), killing all the residents and destroying the buildings. Any human who lived through it has left, and wild animals are beginning to lurk in the abandoned buildings. The dogs were kept safe in the cement basement, but now must find a way to live in the ruined inner city.

2) This is a LITERATE RP. Please treat it as such.
3) No godmodding, flawless characters, etc.
4) Four characters max.
5) Please try not to get too descriptive about violence, mating, etc. Let's keep it PG - PG13.
6) Only dog characters, and realistic dog characters at that, so no superpowers, etc.
7) Friendships, rivalries, dating, etc are encouraged, but treat the other players with respect while RPing, and ask before you use their character for something.
8) When posting out of character, let everyone know! Either write in brackets (i.e. ((X)), [[X]], or {{X}}) or put OOC: before your post.
9) No major time skips or major plot changes (i.e. "...and then aliens came and took them to Mars!").
