Kaiiyen was silent a long while, but she laced her fingers through his, holding his hand tightly.

Derek held her hand silently and didn't say anything for a bit.

Kaiiyen wiped her eyes, which were tearing up. She took a shaky breath and rested her head on Derek's shoulder.

Derek wrapped an arm around her waist and whispered, "It's okay, love."

Kaiiyen cried silently on Derek's shoulder, confused of what to do, where to go and when, and why? Why had this happened? What does the future hold for them? She had never felt more scared for her children or lover in her life.

Derek held her to him and whispered, "Hush love, it's alright. I'm here."

"I'm scared, Derek. I don't want to admit it to anyone, or myself, but I'm scared. What kind of world do we live in? What will become of us? The future is cold... So cold..." Cried Kaiiyen.

[Ghostdragon]

Derek murmured, "Everyone's scared, love. Only a fool would admit that he wasn't. I don't know what will happen tomorrow or the next day or the next day. All I know is that we need to stick together, no matter what. If we have each other, we have all that we need." He held her to him, wrapping his arms around her.

Kaiiyen stopped crying soon after that, giving a soft whimpering sob before she quieted. Her fingers clutched at his shirt like a child holding onto a parent in dire time of need.

Derek said nothing but held her to him.
