Thea answered with a snort. The spotted mare was angry. Mostly at him but also at herself. He was shallow and had no willpower. Not too trustworthy. It was reliving her past. Shs could still scent Coal on her pelt and grew irritated, rubbing her side on a nearby treetrunk. It burned against her side but she wanted it off. She was snaked and not happy.

Lucky soon woke up, and looked up at the dun mare. He felt slightly better after resting, and he managed to wobble back to her hooves. There was a browny-red, paused stream of dried blood down his forehead and nose, coming from an open, throbbing wound, although no more blood was gushing out. Then the stallion looked at Nan again, who had stayed with him. He lightly nudged her cheek friendily. "Thank you for staying with me." Lucky whispered, keeping his nose on her cheek.

At least blood smothered his scent. The pain took her mind off the pain inside. Limping slightly she knew she could be immobolized if she did not be careful. Taking it at a walk she felt more alone than ever. The only reason Coal took interest was her heat smell. Thea shook her head. She scolded herself mentally for self-loathing. Stiffly wincing as she moved the mare whinnied quietly. Where was the river again? Her throat ached.
