Before adopting or ordering a custom, please look over the information thread. It's a bit long, so I'll understand if you don't read everything, but please try to have at least a basic understanding of the species.

Rules
Yeah, I know. Rules can be annoying.
Let's just read through them now and get them out of the way.

For everyone:
1. Be patient.
↳ All the artists have lives of our own; we won't always be able to complete
your custom or judge an adoptable right away.
2. Don't complain.
↳ If you didn't win an adoptable or missed a custom slot, congratulate whoever
did and hope for better luck next time.
4. Only adopt characters you'll use.
↳ There's no limit, but please try to be reasonable.
3. Return unused kartheans.
↳ If you no longer want your karthean character, return it here.
Do not sell it or give it away.

Adoptables
Now, your first option if you'd like a karthean character is to adopt a ready made one! You can find those linked to below, or under the 'coloured in' section of this drawing. Any that say "Up for adoption!" on them are, well, up for adoption!
To try for an adoptable, fill in this form and post it on the thread of the karth you're trying for. It will be up to the artist who created it whether to award it to the first properly filled out form, or wait and judge which form is the best.

Have fun with this! Just make something up. Remember, kartheans are aliens. They won't have a human name or a name that's a word in any human language. Though you can say it means something in the karthean language. Be creative!
Art/Story:
A drawing (min 20 minutes) or story (min 2 long paragraphs) about the character. For this, especially if writing a story, the information thread will be very helpful. Showing you know a bit about the species and their culture will improve your chances!

Customs
Now, your other option is to order a custom design! Note that "custom" does not mean coloured as your already designed character. This is just a way to get a karthean designed specifically for you and fitting into your guidelines.
Customs are free for now; all you have to do is submit a properly filled out form on this thread whenever customs are open.
You will be PMed when your custom is done if you are a regular user. COPPA'd accounts will have to keep up with the thread--it will be posted here when your custom is done.

Welcome, all artist and guest artists! This is where I'll be keeping the artist's rules, and any notes I have for you guys. C:

Rules for Artists:
1. Do not ask for payment.
↳ Kartheans will be won/paid for with art and stories, not pets. However, you can accept unasked for donations.

2. Do not remove my signature.
↳ Even if you coloured it, the species and lines are mine. You can add your own signature if you'd like.

3. Keep rare kartheans rare.
↳ Be careful not to make too many kartheans with rare or uncommon traits, such as blue eyes.
A good rule of thumb is 1 out of 5 can be uncommon, while 1 out of 10 can be rare.

4. Do not create impossible kartheans without permission.
↳but keep in mind just about anything colour-wise can be explained with extensive tattoos and dyeing--just be sure to specify that that's the reason for their unusual skin/hair/etc.
Line edits that don't fit what I've already written about the species should always be asked about.

5. Don't make too many for yourself.
↳ There is no set limit on how many karthean characters you can make for yourself, as long as you make at least two adoptables/custom orders for every one you make yourself. Also, see rule 4 of the rules for everyone.

Before you start, you should know there are rules for artists on the adoptable's page, so you may want to read them. You also might want to read the information thread--the parts concerning natural colours and tattoos, at least, so you can create 'realistic' designs.

Besides that, I'd like to keep the format for the adoptables somewhat consistent. Titles should look like this: Karthean#? {Custom/Up for Adoption!/Adopted} Except, of course, with the number the karthean is instead of the question mark, and only the part that applies to that adoptable in the bracket. You can use my formatting for the post, or you can do it your own way. Mine look like this:

Up for adoption, judged. | Up for adoption, first come, first serve. | Adopted | Custom

I've added a few more layers since the contest--mainly titles, separate colouring layers for skin/scales/hair, and a few outfits for each gender. They're labelled, so you should be able to tell what's what, but if you need help just let me know.
Line edits are allowed, and creating new clothes is encouraged. Just try to keep in mind the style of most of the clothes so far, and make it look like it belongs. Try to avoid very human looking clothes--I made that mistake here, and to me, at least, it just doesn't look right.

Well, that's all I can think of that you need to know. Sorry, it ended up a little long! ^^;

Alethan(Al-then) is one of those hipster x hippie guys who loves to adventure along the coast. He isn't as book smart as he is street smart so he knows his friends and foes. He has always loves tattoos and dying his hair anywhere from pink to blue. He has mighty dreams and never let's anything get in the way of his journey...most of the time. He is hilarious at the best of times but is easily distraught and angered.

Alethan was hatched earlier then all the over Karths, The little group of mothers believed Alethan wouldn't survived because of his small stature and early hatching, He proved them wrong and started going on adventures with his father and even learnt how to make fire by the time he was 3, He started going on his own adventures and missing out on important lessons hence his lack of intelligence. He returned to the town and found out that everything had changed beyond belief and his parents had died because of a serious unknown illness.
Design Guidelines:
He has white scales except for his feet with are tinted with green, He has extremely light blue eyes almost white. He is 6"9 ft tall and has dark purple hair(almost black) and a tattoo of a wave just below his shoulder. He wears no shirt of any kind rather a pants made of linen with a cotton Egyptian style man skirt

Why do you want this character/how will you use it?: Because she would be a lovely and unquie charicter to draw

Character Information: Well, to start off, she is a girl named M'rinda. She is fairly young at the age of 26. A little of her back story reveals that she is a theif, stealing from some of the main merchents of her town. No one can ever prove her guilty, manging to always slip away at the last secound

Design Guidelines: Dark grey skin with orange tattoos and orange eyes. A nice dotted/stripe design for the tattoos would be cool, but other than that surprise me
