Dude when the mod of a lit rp makes spelling errors or grammar errors in the posts introducing their rp, I immediately leave unless it's like 1 small error. You're not allowed to ask for perfect mechanics when you can't manage it yourself.

This has happened to me several times. I go into a role play because it says it's literate. The formatting is great and such, and then I see one mistake. And then two. And then many more. And I'm just like... Really? e_e

I believe you use parentheses when it's extra information, irrelevant to the whole sense of the sentence. ie:

the area (located in brazil) is full of dirt and rubbish

if you leave "(located in brazil)" out of the sentece, the meaning is the same. it still makes sense.

I don't think parenthesis have, like, a set place, but basically, from my understanding, the stuff in parenthesis are just additives that are not inherently necessary to your main text and the paragraph/sentence would still make sense without it

Dude but I usually don't pay much attention to grammar like I do a ton of run on sentences but you guys still know what I mean right .-.
I think it's a mix of tumblr + I speak quickly irl and in my head.

Parentheses can be used equivalently to pairs of commas, if I remember equivalently. If the sentence would still make sense if you took out the parentheses, then the information is extraneous and can be surrounded by a set of commas or parentheses.

Really, if you're going on a tangent, use parentheses. And what Asian said, I'm self-taught too. I use fragments, run ons, and parentheses just because I feel like it sometimes. If it reads well, go with it.

They can be used in place of an appositive, or you cab use them to either insert your own, irrelevant, ideas into a sentence, or your character's when it's the narrator speaking.
