Welcome to the Jewel Empire! A gorgeous kingdom, bordered by many other places including the mighty Equestria. It's ruled by the beautiful Queen Aka and her husband King Whirlwind, who have four foals called Prince Storm Cloud, and Princesses Sparkle Flame, Fire-Fighter and Wildfire.
This book was written by me, originally created by my friend and I, who owns some of the characters.

It started a while ago when my we were making random pony OCs, and we wanted alicorns. After some scribbling and playing around with designs, we created - in this order, Fire-Fighter, Aka, Wildfire, Sparkle Flame, Whirlwind and Storm Cloud. We then needed to make backstories for the characters, and I needed writing practise. And when a couple of random chapters were enjoyed by people on CS, I wrote a book!
So, enjoy! And if you wish to comment, just PM me with it. Posting is not open here. I've had multiple people comment here, which I appreciate, but it's not allowed.

Book 1 blurb wrote:After becoming jealous of her elder siblings, especially her sister Sparkle Flame, the young Princess Wildfire changes. Transforming into a strange, fiery creature like the tale of Nightmare Moon, she destroys everything she loves. Who will stop her, and can her family save the Empire and find the Queen before it’s too late?

Note:
I didn't get the Jewel Empire idea from 'The Crystal Empire'. The original idea of this was thought up before the third series of mlp fim aired.
Also, all these characters and locations other than the occasional mention of Equestria belong to me and my friend! DO NOT STEAL! However fanart is highly appreciated.

Wildfire

Postby Kodabomb » Sun Nov 25, 2012 2:42 pm

This one is written from Princess Wildfire's point of view. Art of Wildfire done by hdmwolf. <3

My mother burst into the room and I leapt to my hooves. Her green eyes were full of fire and her silky blue mane flowed quickly behind her like a shining cloak. She crossed to the window and suddenly stood still, staring out into the night sky.
Wondering what was wrong, I tried to approach her. But she spread her large wings, signalling to stay still.
“Mother,” I started.
“Wildfire,” she sighed. “We need to talk.”
I gasped.“No, Mother!” I said, stepping back. A breeze blew in and ruffled my fire-like mane. “I want to stay,”
“It’s not about that.” She replied patiently, turning to face me. “I know there’s something wrong.”
“Pfft.” I replied. I held my head up and calmly walked to my mat, trying to show I was ending the conversation. I was about to lie down when Aka snorted in frustration. I jumped up and stared her in the eye. She did not look away, holding a stern gaze.
“Princess Wildfire.” She sighed. “Have you looked at yourself lately? Have you seen the changes?”
“I’m not a filly anymore, Aka!” I cried, stomping my hoof upon the floor. She looked hurt.
“Aka?” she said.
“Yes. Your name is Aka and I’ll call you Aka. I am a princess and I will do as I please.” I sniffed, turning to face the door.
“And I am the Queen and you shall do as I tell you!” retaliated Aka, stepping towards me.
“My changes are turning me into a mare. I can’t control that!” I said, starting towards the door. But they were suddenly surrounded by a green aura and I spun around to see she had shut them with her magic. She stomped towards me.
“But your eyes, Wildfire! Your eyes were blue, and now they are red with slits! Slits, Wild! Have you not heard the Equestrian tale of the Mare in the Moon?”
“Of course I have! But what have my eyes got to do with Nightmare Moon?” I huffed.
“Nightmare Moon’s eyes were said to be different than other ponies’. They had slits, but when she was changed back into Princess Luna they disappeared.”
I gasped. Could it be true? I ran to the mirror and looked at myself. I had a white coat like I always had, with mane like fire. My cutie mark was a flaming sun. To match it, my parents had given me beautiful shoes, a necklace and a tiara shaped like orange fire with blue gems. The gems were supposed to match my eyes. But now they didn’t. My eyes looked horrid and evil, red with black slits like Aka had said.
I saw that she had come up behind me. “See?” she said. Suddenly anger flooded through me.
“So you want to get rid of me judging by my eyes?” I neighed. “What kind of mother are you? What kind of Queen are you?” Aka looked hurt again. She turned back to the window and drew in a shaky breath.
My wings suddenly rose and spread out, and Aka spun around. “Wildfire,” she begged.
“No. I’m going. You can speak to me when you’ve decided I’m a good enough daughter like Sparkle Flame and Fire Fighter.” And with that, I galloped to the balcony and leapt off it, soaring into the darkness.
I beat my wings harder than usual. I was in such anger with my mother that I flew as fast as I could towards my room. Over the castle I went, watching the guards patrol the courtyards. Pegasi soldiers flew around all the towers, and the unicorns performed the protective night spells.
Up ahead I saw the glow of my tower and soon alighted on it’s balcony. My room used to be near the others’, but I demanded to be moved to this tower not long ago...
I stepped into the room and my little maid ponies cantered up to me. I had one unicorn, one Pegasus and one earth pony. They bowed at my feet but I beckoned them up.
The unicorn, Moon Glitter, saw the tears that had begun to slide down my face. “Princess? What’s wrong?” she asked sweetly.
“Oh, it doesn’t matter.” I replied.
“Do you need any supper?” asked the Pegasus, Rose Flame. I shook my head. I sadly walked to my bed and lay down, not bothering to take off my things. Moon and Rose waited by the door for the last maid, Petal. She approached me shyly and in her little hooves removed my tiara, shoes and necklace. She then grabbed the blanket in her mouth, drew it over me and went to the others.
“Goodnight Princess.” They said together, before the lights went out and I fell into a sad slumber.

Fire-Fighter

Postby Kodabomb » Sun Nov 25, 2012 2:44 pm

This one is written from Princess/General Fire-Fighter's point of view.

My hooves clopped as I marched back and fourth over the stone floor of the courtyard. Lined up in front of me were fifty unicorn and Pegasus soldiers. They stood alert as I marched before them.
I suddenly stopped and called “Formation!” all the soldiers immediately ran and made neat rows. “Very good.” I said in satisfaction. It was fun to order them about, strangely, for I was far younger.
Suddenly I heard a bang. I looked at the large doors leading into the courtyard and watched them fly open. A fiery ball of rage burst out before me and my army. It was my sister, Wildfire.
I started towards her but she shot me a nasty look. One of my Pegasi lifted his wings in anger, and Wildfire blasted him with a burst of her orange magic. He fell to the ground and groaned in pain.
“Wildfire!” I cried in shock, lifting my wings in the same manner.
“Stay back.” Snarled my sister, pointing her horn at me. I backed away, frightened. What was wrong with her? She twitched her head, signalling for me to move out of her way. I shuffled back a bit, folding my wings.
Wildfire lifted her head and walked forward. She stalked towards the gates leading out of the courtyard, ignoring the glares she received from my stallions.
Abruptly, one of them put down his head and his horn began to glow with purple magic. Wildfire saw it all too quickly and blasted the unicorn, causing him to be thrown across the yard. I gasped.
“Wildfire!” I shrieked, but I was too late. She had lifted her wings and flown out of sight. I whipped around and spotted the poor unicorn, shrivelled up in a heap at the opposite wall. I galloped over to him, the ponies around me parting to let me through.
I bent over the unicorn and touched him with my horn. He looked up.
“Are you OK?” I asked him. He got up, shaking.
“Um… yes.” He groaned.
“I need to speak to that sister of mine.” I told him.
“It’s OK, Princess. It was just a little drama. All fillies have them.” He moaned.
“Oh, she’s no filly any more. And I can’t let her hurt one of my stallions and get away with it.” I suddenly spread my wings, galloped towards the wall and took off.
I soared through the air, desperately searching for Wildfire. Something was definitely wrong. It was impossible to see in this late evening light, but I had to find her.
Then I spotted her. Her yellow and orange hair seemed to glow from under the large tree she lay beneath. It didn’t usually glow...
I swooped down and landed lightly on the grass. Carefully I approached the Princess.
“Wildfire.” I whispered. She gasped and looked up. “What happened?”
“Nothing that concerns you, General.” She snorted. She got up and turned away from me.
“Of course it concerns me.” I soothed. “I’m your sister.”
“You’re also Sparkle Flame’s sister.” Wildfire threw back at me.
“What does that mean?” I said, lifting my hoof.
“It means that you can act like you care forever, but you will always love your other sister more.” She snorted again, not looking at me. I was hurt.
“That’s not true!” I gasped. “I love both of you the same,”
“No you don’t!” neighed Wildfire. She spun around and shot a burst of fiery magic at me. I dodged it. She tried again and I lifted myself into the air. Wildfire did the same and suddenly took off in a burst of flame. I chased after her.
She was going terribly fast. The air whipped my face as I sped along. She wasn’t hard to follow; she was like a large candle now.
She went down and landed on the wall of the castle. I followed and she spotted me, shooting a dart of magic at me. I decided to do it back, and she jumped out of the way. She flapped her wings and pointed her horn. It began to glow, and I tried the same spell. I could feel my horn getting hot…
Just as I saw a burst of light erupt from her horn, I responded. But I didn’t feel a thing. I lifted my head in confusion to see I was separated from my sister by a transparent blue wall.
I looked to my right to see that a light pink alicorn was flying down between us. Her horn was surrounded by blue magic. She was the one performing the shield spell. My other sister, Sparkle Flame.
Suddenly the wall disappeared and Sparkle put her head down in exhaustion. Wildfire glared at her.
“What are you doing?” she demanded. “I was trying to dispose of this princess.”
“Wildfire!” said Sparkle. “I was breaking you two up. If I hadn’t been out here both of you could’ve been killed. You don’t know what kind of magic you were performing.”
I put my head down in shame. I shouldn’t have done that. But Wildfire shouldn’t have either.
“Don’t tell me what spell I was doing.” She said in disgust. Suddenly the Princess lifted her wings and flew off into the fading light. Sparkle looked at me with longing before turning and flying in the opposite direction. I stood there on the wall and looked desperately in front of me.
What had my family become?

Sparkle Flame

Postby Kodabomb » Sun Nov 25, 2012 2:44 pm

Using my blue magic, I lazily opened the large wooden doors that stood before me. I plodded into my room and stood there for a moment. What a day. I’d been studying my hardest since I woke, trying to perfect my magic. But I love it. I get a drained, lazy feeling at the end of the day.
I walked to my mirror and looked in. A light pink alicorn with blue, orange and red blended hair looked back at me. I lifted a blue ribbon from the dressing table and began tying it back, ready for bed. Yes, I am a bit vain.
Suddenly I heard the doors bang open. My two maids came in, and they bowed down as they saw I was looked through the mirror reflection.
“Good evening Princess.” They chanted sweetly. One was a light blue unicorn named Sweet Star and one a pale brown Pegasus named Sun Chaser. I continued tying my hair as Star came over to help. She used her green magic to remove my fire-shaped necklace and shoes. She brought them over to a shelf and put them up neatly.
I finished the knot and watched as Chaser flew around the room drawing curtains, opening windows and shutting my balcony door. She swooped down and untied the curtains around my bed, making them fall around it. Star came over and pulled the blanket up on my bed, as well as fluffing the pillows. They were so loyal and kind for maids.
“Thank you ladies.” I said, bowing. They bowed back. I climbed into my bed and just as I was about to pull the blanket over me, I heard a knock at the door. I jumped to my hooves as Star ran to answer it. She opened it with her magic and I was surprised to see who was there.
“Fire Fighter?” I said, dumb-struck. My sister never comes to my room. I walked up to her. “What do you want?” I asked innocently.
“I want Wildfire. Where is she?” she snarled.
“She’s not here,” I replied warily.
“Ugh!” she said, turning around. Her hooves clopped on the marble floor as she galloped down it. I watched her turn the corner of the corridor.
“Princess? Would you like me to fix up your bed?” I heard Star ask me sweetly. I looked around to see I had accidentally threw the blankets off as I got up. I blushed but shook it away.
“No, Star. You can come with me, I’ll need another unicorn’s help. Chaser, you go and wait in the room.” I replied. Chaser saluted me and Star followed as I went after Fire-Fighter.
I galloped down the hall, my hoof-steps echoing around the high ceiling. Star was having trouble keeping up on her little legs; I was a lot taller than her. We rounded the turn and went towards the stairs.
Down the spiral staircase we went, trying to find where Fire-Fighter had gone. We got to the bottom and arrived in the huge hall; the centre of the west side of the palace.
Which was where all the important ponies hung around.
I felt my pink face go bright red as all the important, fancy ponies stood there in surprise, looking at me with my hair tied back and my jewellery off. Princesses aren’t supposed to act below themselves.
“My dear, what are you doing?” asked some posh unicorn stallion, all dressed in his tie and top-hat.
“Oh, um…” I coughed. I stood tall like and princess and ignored the stares. “Has anypony seen the General?”
“Oh, she went that way!” called a mare in a long purple gown. I nodded and beckoned for Sweet Star to come with me. We crossed the room to the enormous golden doors and I opened them. We entered the courtyard.
I couldn’t see a thing, the sky was too dark. Suddenly a bright green light shone down on the stone beneath us, and I saw that Star was using the torch spell.
“Where’d you learn that? It’s a little complicated for somepony your age.” I said.
“I watched you.” She said. I smiled.
I cantered across the courtyard. I looked up into the sky and suddenly saw a glowing orange tail.
“There she is!” I whinnied. I spread my wings and was about to take off when Star spoke.
“Princess! Do I need to come?” she said.
“Yes, get on my back!” I said. I lifted her on with my magic and charged towards the wall. I lifted my wings, jumped off the ground and soared into the air. I glided over the wall and shot faster and faster towards the little light that was probably my sister.
I caught up with her and knew I’d found the right pony. She looked at me in surprise.
“You didn’t bother putting on your shoes on?” she said.
“Nope. Where’s Wildfire?” I replied.
“Down there. I’ve been hovering.” I looked down to see the ball of fiery mane in the gardens. I looked closer and saw…
“Mother?” I gasped. Our mother, Queen Aka was down there too, and they were obviously arguing.
“Come on, we’ll go down there too.” Said Fire-Fighter.
“Hold on,” I said to Star. I felt her little hooves cling to my neck as I swooped steeply downwards. We both landed a few paces away from the arguing pair.
I felt Star hop off my back. We began to walk towards them.
Suddenly Wildfire whipped around and shot a blast of magic at us. It narrowly missed Sweet Star and she fearfully hid behind my leg.
“What are you fighting about?” Fire-Fighter asked.
“None of your business.” Snarled Wildfire.
“Wildfire!” snapped Aka. The angered Princess shot some magic at her, but she easily reflected it. Wildfire roared and blasted a jet from her horn, and Aka backed as she reflected the spell again.
“That’s our mother!” whinnied Fire-Fighter, stepping in and shooting at Wildfire. She fought both of them, and the garden was lit up with green and orange magic. Aka suddenly shot a jet at Wildfire, instead of a reflection spell. But Wildfire was too busy with Fire-Fighter…
“No!” I cried, leaping forward to reflect the spell away from Wildfire. She was my sister, I couldn’t let her get hit. “Mother!” I yelled angrily.
But she just gave me a glare and tried again. Wildfire tried shooting her, and Fire-Fighter attempted to get her… I closed my eyes and pointing my horn, ready to fight back…
Suddenly I felt a green glow against my face. I looked to see that Star had performed a powerful and complicated four-way shield spell, protecting each one of us from each other.
She held it for a moment before releasing. She panted.
“Sweet Star… where did you learn to do that?” I asked in awe. She just gave me a longing look, before her eyes rolled back and she fell onto the grass. “Oh no!” I got down to see she was still breathing.
All of a sudden I felt my mane blow around, as three pairs of wings flapped around me. I looked up and saw that all of them had flown away.
I shook my head and got up, lifting little Star onto my back. I spread my wings and sadly flew off into the night.

Aka

Postby Kodabomb » Tue Nov 27, 2012 8:52 am

This is written from Queen Aka's point of view. And this is the one where it twists....
Image
I finished the letter I was reading and put it down. I used my magic to bring them over to the wooden chest in the corner. I opened it, dropped the letters inside and shut the lid. My subjects were so kind as to write me these letters.
I sighed and crossed the room. I went beside my bed and calmly removed my shoes and necklace. I know I should’ve asked a maid to do that, but I was too tired to summon in a maid at that moment. I went to my mirror and looked in.
As I gazed lazily at the blue alicorn before me, I suddenly heard a loud rapping on my door.
“Enter!” I called. I turned around and waited.
The door flew open and a very distressed unicorn stallion burst in, all dressed in his armour. He put his head down for a moment, before saluting me and speaking.
“Your Highness, it’s Princess Wildfire. She’s gone insane! In the Hall of the Thrones!” He said urgently. I gasped.
I nodded and quickly put my necklace and shoes back on with my magic. “Lead the way!” I said. The guard nodded and galloped down the corridor. I followed after him, feeling my wings lift. I was worried.
We came to the corner and ran around it. These corridors were carpeted in deep blue and were dark. It was calming.
But this situation wasn’t calming at all. The guard leapt down the stairs and I bounded after. We thudded to the ground at the bottom and bolted to the doors in front. I opened them with my magic and we crossed the large entrance hall to the enormous white, gem-studded doors. The guard opened them with his deep pink magic and we entered the room.
Normally the Queen bursting into the room would cause a big fuss, but this time it didn’t. I pushed through the large crown of posh ponies from the castle and gazed up in the same direction as they were.
I gasped. It was indeed Wildfire.
She was standing on the marble platform in front of the Six Thrones of the Royals. She was laughing wickedly and suddenly her strangely red eyes met my green ones. As she saw me they lit up.
“Oh, Aka! You’re just in time to witness my transformation.” She purred. “Soon you will no longer be the Queen, just as I will no longer be the little Princess.”
“What are you saying? Get here now!” I replied in disgust, feeling the eyes upon me around the room.
“Don’t tell me what to do, Mother.” she snarled. “I mean what I said. I’m fed up of being the youngest of three equal sisters! I knew that one day, one of us would have to rise up over the others. Soon the whole of Jewel Empire will be mine!” She laughed again.
What was my daughter saying? Suddenly I remembered that none of this would come true. I stepped closer to the platform.
“No, Wildfire. You see, I have this!” I said. I put head down to reveal the large, swirling blue gem on my forehead, attached to a thick ribbon. I was the thing that held the power to rule the Jewel Empire. “It can’t be removed by magic. You can’t take it from me!”
“Ha!” cackled the Princess. “Once the spell is complete, that will be easy.”
All of a sudden the doors banged open and five ponies leapt into the room. Two Pegasi, two unicorns and one earth pony. I recognised them. Three of them were Wildfire’s maids, and two were Sparkle Flame’s.
“Princess you’re not in your room..” one of them started.
“Oh no.” another whispered. They stood there in fright.
“Why hello Petal, Moon Glitter, Rose Flame. Who are you going to side with? Me, the future Queen, or Aka, the current, weak Queen?” said Wildfire. All attention was pointed at those three. The other two just sank into the crowd.
Suddenly Petal, the earth pony, drew in a deep breath. “Aka.” She said. Wildfire looked shocked.
“Well, be that way! Soon you will be locked in a dungeon for being a traitor, so I won’t worry about you at the moment.” She sniffed. With a short wave of her hoof.
“Wildfire...” said Fire-Fighter, my other daughter, suited in her armour.
“Look upon me, Jewel Empire. For I am now the greatest Queen this kingdom has ever seen!” Suddenly her horn glowed a bright orange. A beam of light glowed from the tip. It got bigger and bigger, and started to spread a whip of magic around her. Fire erupted from her horn and made a large, swirling cyclone of flame around her. She was wrapped in sphere of fire…
Wildfire was lifted off the ground. The flames continued to swirl around her and her wings spread. Her hair whipped around and suddenly her eyes flew open, white and glowing with no pupils. The light from them got bigger, and I closed my eyes, blinded by the light.
And then it stopped. I looked up, desperately hoping my daughter had been changed back to good…
But it hadn’t. Shards of orange flame-like glass were all over the platform, and I looked to see a heap upon the floor in front of my throne.
“Wildfire? Are you OK?” Sparkle-Flame whispered, stepping forward. She moved. But the thing that stood up was not my daughter.
Was it?
It couldn’t have been. Her mane and tail flowed almost upwards, glowing and crackling like real fire. The shoes of her back legs were tall and spiked, and the front were small. Her crown matched, and it was almost as tall as her horn. They were red and orange with blue gems. Her eyes were red with black slits and the whites of her eyes were shaded almost red. She spread her wings and the feathers were pointed just like flames. She was quite a lot taller than her sisters now, about the size of me.
“No!” I shrieked. Wildfire looked down at herself. She laughed horribly, evilly, into the silence of the room. Everypony was staring, terrified of the new Princess.
“Yes! It worked! I am now the real Wildfire! The true Queen of the Jewel empire!” she laughed, lifting herself into the air, flapping her new wings.
“You’re not my sister!” yelled Fire-Fighter. She flew forward, charging at her. Wildfire looked up and suddenly her eyes glowed white. She blasted her sister with a jet of magic that I had never seen before. It was from her eyes…
“And now, to really claim this palace. This Empire. All the ponies of this kingdom will be mine!” she flew down and landed, before suddenly pointing her horn at me.
“No, you can’t take it!” I gasped. I backed up and a couple of guards flew down and made a cross with their spears before me. Wildfire just laughed. Her horn lit up with orange magic, just like fire, and I suddenly felt my forehead burn.
I screamed and collapsed to the ground, writhing around as the hot magic burned me. I heard ponies around me gasp, helpless. They couldn’t help me. I screamed more and suddenly felt the ribbon and the gem slip off my head.
I lifted my chin off the floor and felt a face near mine. Wildfire gave me a wicked look and I stared her in the eye. Around her horn was magic, as well as around the gem that was being levitated between our faces.
“Ha!” cackled Wildfire. “Weak!” she brought the gem close to her forehead and it touched her. The ribbon wrapped around her ears and she tied it on. I watched as sparks went down her body as she absorbed the power of the Jewel.
“Yes! YES!” she screeched, flying up. She shot a jet of magic into the crowd. Ponies scattered, trying to avoid being fried. She shot another one and it hit Sparkle Flame square in the chest. She fell to the ground in agony.
Wildfire landed again and aimed her horn at one of the guards. She shot him and he suddenly transformed into something different. His hair turned to fire and his eyes went white and pupil-less. She went around the room and shot every single soldier she could see, turning them all into monsters like her.
“Now, seize them. All of them.” Whispered Wildfire, climbing onto my silver throne. Her eyes filled with a horrid sort of happiness, as guards closed in. Ponies from all around the room fled out into the corridors and up the stairs, escaping the clutches of the devil soldiers. I tried to get up but my head was dizzy and sore. Fire-Fighter yelled and ran to me, but before she could help me up two guards grabbed her and dragged her away. I cried and struggled, getting to my hooves just as I spotted a unicorn flame-guard charging towards me.
I spread my wings and flapped, trying desperately to ignore the pain. I flew quickly to the opposite door, over the sea of ponies. I heard more flapping behind to see that Sparkle Flame was chasing after, and behind her was a ball of fire trying to grab hold of her tail.
“Mother!” she wailed. We both folded our wings and began galloping up the stairs. We rounded a turn and ran up another flight of stairs.
I opened a door and we both leapt in, bolting it. It banged and thumped, shaking as our pursuer tried to grab us. But we were safe. I looked behind me to see it was a maid’s room, all neat and tidy with a bed, cupboard, desk and other things that you may find in a young mare’s room.
I put my head down and walked to the centre of the room. My daughter had just turned into a monster. And the palace wasn’t safe any more. Sparkle and I would have to stay in here, waiting. The window was too small to fly out of.
Sparkle walked up to me and rubbed her neck up against mine. I put my head over her and we both started to cry.

Murder Rose

Postby Kodabomb » Fri Dec 21, 2012 3:42 pm

This writtenfrom Murder Rose's point of view.
Image
I ducked behind the wall. My chest rose and fell quickly. The silent night air blew my blond mane around. I used my blood-red magic to lift my green cloak over my head, before peeking around the wall again.
Clear. I crept out from my hiding spot in the stone alley-way, and tip-toed along the cobblestone street. It was pitch black, but seeing in the dark was my speciality. It was a criminal.
Suddenly I spotted a group of stallions coming down the street before me, and I made sure my head was completely hidden in the hood. But ponies looked like they had just got back from a party, so they were tired and stupid-looking and definitely drunk. I just walked on by.
I needed to find the right house. But it was impossible! What if she didn’t even live in the city? I knew for one that this particular unicorn was fond of nature, so she probably lived in the countryside.
But I had to try. I needed to keep myself safe. As well as my apprentice. This pony was the only one who knew I was a murderer, as well as my name. My name is Murder Rose. And it is my thing to kill. My cutie mark is a rose leaking blood.
I needed to pick up the pace. I pushed my hooves to go faster, and I galloped down the street. Past the lit houses I went, keeping to the shadows. I didn’t know where I was going to find the right house.
Suddenly I turned into an alley. I hid myself in the shadows and began performing a spell. I was going to read the mind of my victim; a very complicated spell.
I thought about the looks of this pony. Blue coat. Brown mane. Necklace. Unicorn…
Then a vision popped into my mind. Grass. The woods. Rabbits, squirrels and butterflies. And I knew where that place was.
I suddenly snapped back and teleported myself. I plunged into icy darkness, feeling myself being sucked into a tube. I felt the air leave my lungs before all of a sudden, I tumbled onto the grass. I needed to perfect that one.
I got up and looked around. Perfect. I was near the woods, right next to a wooden fence. There were some sheep all snuggled up in their shed. I looked past it to see the cottage.
Yes. Her home...
I put my hood back on and quietly went towards the door. I peeked in the window next to it. The room was lit up. They were home. I used my magic to open the door and I silently stepped in.
I was in a round room with a fireplace, books, a table and other things you’d find in the main living room of anypony.
“Aqua? Is that you?” I suddenly heard a stallion’s voice call. I gasped and galloped over to the side of a shelf, hidden in the shadows. “I’ve started dinner and,”
I held my breath as he came around the corner.
“What?” gasped a dark grey Pegasus stallion as he spotted a lock of my golden tail near the shelf. “Who are you? Show yourself!”
I choked and put on my saddest, weakest face. I’d never gotten caught before, so I had to improvise. I limped out from behind the shelf and looked up at him.
“So sorry, sir. I have been travelling, and my magic is weak… I came across your cottage and thought it wasn’t occupied…” I groaned. I made my eyes roll back and I fell onto the floor. The Pegasus gasped.
“Oh, are you OK? Here, come.” He said kindly. He helped me to my hooves and led me over to a couch, where I lay down.
“Now, what is your name? Let me get you some food too.” He said, waiting near me.
“Rose,” I said, opening my eyes a tiny bit.
“Well, Rose, I’ll get you some tea to wake you up, and you rest your head. My girlfriend will be back soon, and she’ll help you better than me.” I heard him walk off. “She’s a unicorn, and she can get you the right things to fix you up, so you’ll be back on the road.”
“Thank you. Can I have your name?” I asked weakly.
“Bolt. Golden Bolt.” He replied from in the kitchen.
Then something went off in my head. It was definitely the right house! I recognised the name Golden Bolt. He was the lover of the unicorn I was hunting, and I would soon be able to get them both.
In a moment he returned, balancing a tray on his head with a cup of tea and some shortbread. He put it on the table near me and I lifted my head. He smiled at me as I lifted the tea up with my magic and held it to my lips. I was about to take a sip when suddenly there was a knock at the door.
“Bolt! I’m home!” I heard from outside. Oh no. It was her. As Bolt went to greet her, I carefully got to my hooves and held a knife beneath my cloak with my red magic. I backed up, flicking a lamp off with my horn to hide in the shadow as I drew out the dagger…
I watched Aqua walk in, with three small birds riding on her back. Bolt shooed a squirrel out the door. As Aqua turned, her eyes met mine. They widened, the pupils dilating to specks. She stood there in shock and her boyfriend turned.
“Bolt!” she shrieked, not looking at him. “There’s a mare in here!”
That was my signal to strike.
I leapt from the shadows, my dagger aloft. The two ponies, Aqua reasonably shorter than me, leapt out of my way. Aqua screamed as I let go of the knife as high speed, and it shot towards her. She suddenly deflected it with a shield, and it clattered to the floor.
“Aqua!” yelled Bolt, running to her.
“No!” she shrieked back, casting a shield up to stop him from hurtling at me.
I roared in anger, lifting the knife up again from the other side of the room. But then I decided that it wasn’t going to work. I would fight her horn to horn. Then I’d kill the Pegasus, because he knew who I was.
I shot a red beam of light at Aqua, causing her to fall to the ground. She quickly picked herself up and shot one at me, aiming for my chest. But it didn’t hit my heart, it hit the rose clip holding my green cloak on. It slipped off me, and the unicorn saw my cutie mark.
“Rose!” she shrieked.
“Yes, very clever. You know me. I’ll have to kill both of you now.” I said in disgust. I threw a spell at her which hit her in the eyes. She screamed and closed them, blocking the tears. I charged forward and Aqua, blinded, put her head down. We locked horns.
“Why are you here?” snarled Aqua.
“To kill you. You know me, you die.” I replied, pushing. She grunted and started to sweat, her legs spreading with the pressure.
“Fine! Don’t kill Bolt though!” she said. I released, and she toppled over. She opened her blood-shot eyes, regaining her poor sight. She stood straight and looked at me. I pointed my horn at her and it began to light. It glowed, and I pushed with all my might…
All of a sudden Aqua yelled out. Bolt ran to her. “Huh?” I said, lifting my head. Aqua grabbed bolt with her hoof and they suddenly vanished in a puff of green flame.
“NO!” I yelled. “NO!” I whinnied in anger, stomping my hooves. I kicked a large vase with my hind legs and it smashed. I blindly blasted everything in sight. She was gone! Now they both knew who I was!
I held my breath and randomly teleported. I was sucked through a tube and landed with a thud on leafy ground.
I opened my eyes and saw that I was in the clearing of a forest, with pine trees that touched the sky. I collapsed. It was over. Those two were going to go straight to the princess and I’d be hunted by guards for the rest of my life. As a matter of fact, I knew that Golden Bolt was a knight himself. This was the end.
I suddenly heard rustling and a thud next to me, and I looked up grumpily. There was only one other pony who would approach me like that so I didn’t both doing anything.
“What do you want, Swooper?” I growled. It was Midnight Swooper, my apprentice and partner in crime. She was a grey Pegasus with long blue mane, and she wore a blue hood. Her eyes were golden like an owl’s and she flew just as quiet as one.
“Rose, I have a message.” She said quietly. I got to my hooves with a groan and waited. She put her head into her cloak and drew out a scroll with her teeth. I levitated it and read aloud to Swooper.
“Rose, Swooper, we are delighted to inform you that the princess, Wildfire, has finally taken the throne. We know we have all been waiting for it, now the event has come. Feel free to come to the castle as the new Queen has a message for you. Take care, Red Angel.”
I just stood there for a moment in shock. I looked over the paper to see Swooper’s eyes wide open in shock. She looked up at me and suddenly her wings spread, and she flew up doing loops and twirls. She whinnied in delight and landed, bouncing around.
It was wonderful news. We had been waiting for this for many years. We were now free. We were now the Princess’s personal assassins. I suddenly touched Swooper with my horn and we teleported to the castle.

Aqua

Postby Kodabomb » Mon Dec 24, 2012 2:14 pm

This is written from Aqua's point of view.

My lungs suddenly filled with air as Bolt and I fell to the marble floor of the palace. I helped him up. He wasn’t used to teleporting, being a Pegasus and all.
We looked around. The castle was so magnificent, with marble walls and floor, solid gold pillars and gem-encrusted door-knobs. We were in the centre hall, which would explain it. The centre hall was said to be the most expensive area of the castle.
We crossed the room to a door and I pushed it open before peeking through. Just another hall. Not what I was looking for. I needed a royal guard to speak to. Bolt was one, so he’d know where to go. We needed to alert Queen Aka about our attacker.
“Hey Bolt, where can we find the other guards?” I asked.
“We’ll teleport. Is it possible for me to do the thinking when we do?” he replied.
“I’m not sure… I’m not that high in my studies.” I said. “But we’ll give it a go.” We both closed our eyes and I rested my horn right on his forehead, before suddenly we were being sucked through an icy tube. We both abruptly tumbled onto some cobblestones.
Luckily I managed to keep my hooves on the ground, but Golden Bolt lay in a sad heap, his feathers ruffled. I giggled as he stood up.
I found that we were in the courtyard. High walls surrounded us. I was about to go over to the doors when all of a suddenly there were flapping wings about us. Six white Pegasus guards landed around us, and pointed their spears.
I gasped.
“Halt!” they cried. I looked at them more. There were strange. White, winged, with fire for mane. Their eyes had no pupils, they were just blank. It was spooky. I’d never seen anything like it. Their armour was red and spiked like flames, and all their cutie marks were identical. Flames.
Image
“No, you halt! I’m Sir. Bolt, one of the high knights! Stand down!” ordered Golden Bolt. He was almost taller than them, while I cowered behind his wings.
The guards didn’t stand down. Their spears came closer and I squeaked, ready to put up a shield spell at any moment.
“Sir. Bolt, you say?” we heard a voice from behind near the door and I looked over. A stallion exactly the same walked over, except this one had eyes. Red ones. With slits. Creepy. “Arrest him.” Suddenly Bolt was poked by two spears, forcing him to move. He was about to fight but they threatened him, and he was lead away.
“Bolt! No! Golden Bolt!” I turned angrily to the larger stallion near me. “You beast! Who in the name of Aka do you think you are?”
“Aka? No, no, no. She’s not queen now. And I am head guard. They do whatever I say.” I cocked my head. Then I filled with anger.
I pointed my horn at him. “What are you then? You’re no pony.”
“No. But I couldn’t be bothered telling you what I am, who I am, or why I send your boyfriend away.” He purred, walking around me. “And you probably wouldn’t want to threaten me with that either.” He tapped my horn with his hoof.
“Why not? You don’t have one.” I said dangerously. The guard looked at me for a moment, then smirked. He turned to the door and his pupils vanished, before his eyes erupted white light. A jet of magic shot forward and smashed a statue by the door. I gasped again. How..?
I used my magic to pick up the pieces and put them back together. The statue was good as new.
“Now you may tell me who you are.” He said. “Or you will look like the statue did.”
My eyes widened. I didn’t want to be smashed to bits.
“Um…. Aqua.” I replied.
“Aaaah! Sparkle Flame’s little pet!” he said. “Well, let me introduce you to the queen.” He got behind me and I scuttled forward. He showed me through the door. “Teleport us to the throne room.”
I hesitated, before I reluctantly touched his shoulder with my hoof and we vanished in a puff of green flame. We arrived in the throne room, a glorious marble hall with golden doors, beautiful statues, and draping banners. But instead of having the Jewel Empire emblem on them like usual, they had a white pony face with flowing fiery mane…
And sitting on the silver throne, was none other than Princess Wildfire. Sitting right in Aka’s spot, with the other thrones gone. Where were the other royals?
“Wildfire!” I cried. She gave me an angered look, before pointing her horn. I quickly collapsed to the ground in a bow, looking anxiously up at her.
“What brings you here, peasant pony?” snarled Wildfire. She was very different. Her hair looked just like fire, and it flew almost vertically around her. She had a very tall tiara that was red and orange, with a matching necklaces and set of shoes. Her wings were more spiked than feathered, and sitting in the centre of her forehead was a large, swirling blue gem tied behind her ears with a blue satin ribbon…
I stood. “What have you done to your mother and sisters? And where is your father and brother?” I demanded. I must have looked ridiculous; a little unicorn mare in the centre of a grand hall, yelling at somepony who could easily kill me in the blink of an eye.
“How is that any of your business?” asked Wildfire snobbishly.
“Because you’ve turned into a monster.” I replied in the same tone. She glanced down at me suspiciously.
“You know what? If you were any sort of threat I’d lock you up. But I can’t do that. I’ll let you visit the dungeons though.” She said, standing. “Just don’t even try breaking the cells open with your magic. It won’t work. You!” Wildfire beckoned to a unicorn guard. “Teleport her. Now!”
“Yes your majesty.” Said the guard with a bow. He looked the same as all the other ones. He walked over to me and stood by me, our sides touching, before suddenly we disappeared.
I clumsily fell onto a hard stone brick floor, hitting my head. I stood and gave it a rub, looking around. The guard got up behind me and gave me a shove, and we walked down the dark corridor. It was ancient, and lit with flame torches. I shivered.
“They’re down here.” Said the guard in a rough voice, before backing off into the shadows. I walked down and suddenly heard my name be called.
“Aqua? Aqua!” came a familiar voice.
“Sparkle Flame?” I replied. I saw I bare pink hoof stick out from a cell and I galloped towards it stopping suddenly.
It was Sparkle flame. Her beautiful flowing mane was messed up and covered in filth, and she didn’t have her shoes or necklace on. Her eyes had bags beneath them.
“Oh Sparkle! What has happened to you?” I said in horror.
“It’s Wildfire. She’s taken over.” Replied the princess bitterly.
“Where are the others?” I asked.
“I don’t know. There are others opposite me.” She said.
I looked behind to see more cells, but it was too dark to see inside. “Can’t you use magic to get out? I thought alicorns had the most powerful magic of all.”
“No. Wildfire… she put a curse on all of our horns. I can’t do anything except levitate things.” She replied. She shut her eyes and with a lot of effort magic to pull a feather from its string that was tied around my tail. “That was hard.” She said in pain. Her magic faded and the feather was released but I levitated it instead. It floated between us.
“You take it. It’ll remind that one day, I will get you out. I’ll set you free! Or somepony will...” I turned. “Just you wait!” and with that, I started to gallop. I ran right past the guard, up the hall, past the cells. Within moments I reached the doorway to the dungeons and immediately engulfed myself in green flames, disappearing.
I tumbled from my dark, cold teleporting tube onto some grass, and felt myself falling. I tripped down a steep hill and landed with a thud on some more ground. As I got up I groaned in pain.
Then it hit me. Golden Bolt was gone. Where was he? Were they hurting him? Was he OK? I immediately went into a panic phase, finding myself galloping around and around in circles. Sweat dripped down my face, before that was topped with tears. I looked up at the night sky and suddenly crumbled into the grass.
For the rest of the night I sobbed. I cried until there were no tears, but I still cried. My wailing echoed about the forest and I soon found myself covered in small woodland creatures, trying to comfort me. I ignored them and buried my head in the grass, wondering what on earth I was going to do.

Whirlwind

Postby Kodabomb » Wed Dec 26, 2012 8:09 pm

This is written from King Whirlwind's point of view.
Image
I looked down at the view below. Beautiful. Valleys, forests, rivers and waterfalls. It was pure paradise. This has always been my favourite place.
From this point I could see the border that crossed to Equestria, and behind me was the rest of the kingdom my wife and I ruled together. The Jewel Empire.
Suddenly I heard wing beats and my eldest foal, Prince Storm Cloud, landed beside me, his red and yellow mane blowing in the wind. He was in full armour, gleaming in the sun handsomely.
“Hello Father.” He said.
“How is camp coming along?” I asked.
“Really good!” He replied. “This is going to be the most successful training camp, I assure you. I’m so honoured that you let me be in full charge this time.” He added with a grin.
“One day you will be king, my son. You need to learn.” I replied, giving him a warm smile.
“No, I think Sparkle deserves it far more than me. She’s way more intelligent, pretty and she’s already adored by the entire kingdom.” He said, looking out at the view too.
“If you wish. It’s obviously your choice. I do not want to pressure you.” I sighed. “Controlling a kingdom, even with your mother, is very hard. As well as keeping in mind that she bears the Kingdom’s Jewel. But someday you’ll find a mare and be happy.” Storm Cloud didn’t reply. He looked lost in thought.
All of a sudden we heard more beating wings. I looked around in surprise to see two blue armoured Pegasi flying quickly towards us. We both backed up to let them land. They both bowed down, before getting up to speak.
“Your Highness, an urgent message you need to hear. We need you down in the camp now.” Said one of them.
“From who?” I asked.
“A castle guard… too much to explain. You need to come.” Said the other seriously. Storm and I looked at each other, before following the soldiers as they jumped from the cliff and swooped sharply downwards.
We alighted on the ground and galloped over to where a huddled group of soldiers were. They removed their helmets and stepped back as we approached.
Upon the ground lay a unicorn. His deep green tail was singed and his armour dented. He opened his eyes and looked at me, before getting to his feet. He tried to do it quick, but he looked like he was in terrible pain.
He bowed before me but I beckoned him up. “Rise. I hear you have a message.”
“Indeed, your highness.” He said with a groan. “It’s about your daughter, Wildfire."
“My sister?” wondered Storm Cloud. “Why, what has she done?”
“She’s… she’s gone insane. The entire empire is threatened if nopony stops her…” There were many gasps from around the area, but I help up my hoof to silence them.
“Why are you in such a terrible state? What on earth has happened?” I asked in shock. The unicorn gave me a longing look.
“She’s transformed… it’s so much like that Equestrian tale…” he said.
“The Mare in the Moon?” interrupted Storm.
“Yes! She’s turned wicked! But it’s far worse, she’s locked up all the other royals and turned all the knights and guards into fire monsters.” He moaned. “I was lucky to escape. I’ve been teleporting everywhere, trying to find you, King Whirlwind. She’s been in power for nearly a whole week.”
More gasped and yells.
I sat down on my haunches. This was awful. My own daughter, threatening the kingdom. I looked around to see everypony else whispering to one another, some looking anxiously over at me.
I stood and spread my wings, signalling for them all to silence and look over. I beckoned for them to come closer.
“So sorry, your highness,” said a dark grey earth pony. “But shouldn’t we go straight to the palace at once?” I shook my head patiently.
“No. We need to carefully plan this. She sounds powerful.” I said. That received some strange looks, but most of them nodded.
“Where should we start, your highness?”

* * *
The wind whipped quickly through my mane as I flew through the air. I beat my wings as hard as I could, soaring over the kingdom. Surrounding me were my soldiers, all the Pegasus ones. The unicorns had teleported themselves and the earth ponies just ahead, and were going to keep teleporting from place to place as we went over.
In the distance I could see the majestic white palace, its torrents towering above the forest and towns. My stomach had a horrible, nervous feeling in the pit of it; I was so worried for my family. Including Wildfire. What kind of magic had overpowered her? If it was magic…
Beneath me I saw a colourful patchwork of ponies, before they all started disappearing in puffs of flame. We would nearly be there.
I beat my wings harder, making it tougher for the other Pegasi to keep up. Storm came up beside me, squinting at the castle that we were fast approaching.
Within moments I knew this was where we needed to be. Beneath I sighted the ground dwelling soldiers, and I lit up my horn to signal for the others to follow me down. I swooped towards the ground, not flapping my wings, then I went up, landing smoothly upon the grass in the clearing.
The others all thudded down beside me, and Storm was checking to see everypony was OK. We were going to divide ourselves. I was going to signal the Fireballs from the palace, so they would attack.
I closed my eyes and focused. As my horn began to light up, I threw my head back. A huge lightning bolt of bright yellow magic exploded from it, creating a hole in the clouds. They began to darken and swirl, going around and around. The wind picked up, and I shut my eyes as tight as I could.
I created a swirling storm above. These don’t happen normally, only with powerful magic, which was bound to make the guards in the castle curious. When the storm was fully going, I released, panting. I opened my eyes and looked closely at the storm. We needed to move. I yelled out and half of my army followed, as we galloped away into the forest. Storm stayed with the others, ready to fight the on-coming army. I glanced at the castle, suddenly spotting little tiny bits of fire coming from it. Fireballs. The plan was coming along.
I galloped forward through the trees, closely followed by the army. We had to keep low, hidden in the thick bushland, so they didn’t go for us instead of the others. I watched as they quickly began shooting towards Storm and the soldiers. They didn’t notice us.
It was time to storm the castle. My castle.

* * *
We reached the edge of the forest and came to some meadows. They were small, and led straight into the capital, Laheb City. It would probably be safe, these were just the outskirts, but we probably had to travel over.
“Teleport to the gates!” I ordered the Unicorns and Earth ponies. They respectively saluted me and each unicorn touched a hornless pony, and they suddenly all vanished. I nodded behind me and lifted myself off the ground, soaring into the sky. The others followed and we swooped silently over the buildings.
Laheb City was the most gorgeous, fashionable and sophisticated city in all of the Jewel Empire. The buildings were tall and elegant, and the rich pony nobles had gorgeous houses with marble torrents. The streets were neat cobblestone, and all around were lovely trees that draped over the houses and streets.
Town square was even more attractive, with an enormous statue fountain of an alicorn soldier holding the flag of the Jewel Empire. Obviously, Alicorns were only part of royalty, but it was to represent us.
As we went over the square, ponies started looking up and pointing. Some began to cheer, probably celebrating our return. I had no clue as to whether or not they knew about Wildfire, but they probably did.
Up ahead, in the centre of the city, was the palace. It was lovely, made almost entirely of marble, with gold plated towers and a huge flag of the Empire on the top of the highest one.
I swooped down and landed on the cobblestones right in front of the enormous silver gates, the top bar glittering with tiny sapphires and rubies. I wondered what lay inside the palace. There was only one way to find out.
I flapped my wings and flew over the gate. The others followed and we went over the gardens. We arrived at the drawbridge that went over a moat. Most of the palace didn’t have the fancy gates and the drawbridges, only this main entrance into the castle at the front. The city surrounded the palace, but this was the only place you could enter without teleporting.
The drawbridge was down, but on each side of the entrance were guards. Fireball guards.
Just then something clicked. The soldiers who came to give us the message mentioned that Wildfire changed them into fireballs. Maybe there was a way to reverse it? Maybe I didn’t to distract those other ones. I just hoped my son and the soldiers figured it out.
As I began to walk towards the entrance, the two fireballs used their magic to create a fiery force field across the door.
“Hal,” one of them started, trying to halt me, but I pointed my horn at him and shot a burst of magic out. It hit the Fireball straight in the chest, going through his armour and into his heart. He choked for a moment, before an electric string of magic went up his body, transforming him back into a regular unicorn.
“Wha…. What happened?” he mumbling, rubbing his head with his hoof.
“Crescent!” a voice suddenly cried from behind me. A guard ran out to greet his friend.
“Marine Flame?” mumbled the ex-fireball.
I let them be, before blasting the second guard. He turned into a normal pony too, and a few others went up to greet him.
This was going to be easy.
I marched forward through the doors, the others following. The two unicorns who had been changed back came too, getting a full explanation of what was happening from their peers.
We went down the magnificent entrance hall, being careful not to come across anypony we didn’t need to.
I suddenly decided to let the others try and handle Wildfire. There were so many, they didn’t need me.
“Crystal Shield! Get here for a moment!” I called out to one of the higher knights. A Pegasus made his way around the others, saluting before me.
“I need you to help the others get to my daughter. I’m going to the dungeons to look for my wife.” I ended the sentence looking behind me.
“Yes, sir.” Said Shield. He gave me a brief bow before returning to the others. I imagined the dark dungeons in my mind, closing my eyes, before I suddenly felt like I was getting sucked into a cold tube, the air left my lungs, when I abruptly I was thrown onto the ground.
I rubbed my head and looked around. I was in the dungeons. I turned around, my hooves echoing on the stone. I began walking down the corridor, into the darkness. Somepony had taken away the torches, and I made a little light with my horn.
All of a sudden I heard clopping hoof-steps behind me, and saw a Fireball walking down behind me. I blasted my spell into his heart before he could see me, and he collapsed to the ground as a white Pegasus stallion.
I began to charge down the hall, the cells on either side. I saw they housed innocent ponies, like the servants and random nobles. But they had to wait, as much as it hurt.
“Father! Father!” I heard the choked cries of one of my daughters down the hall.
“Fire Fighter!” I cried. I galloped down the hall, to find a dark cell. Inside was my daughter, princess Fire Fighter.
“Oh my stars are you OK?” I asked, sticking my muzzle through the bars. She looked at me through sad eyes. Her helmet, armour and shoes were off, and her mane that was usually tied up and stuck out of her helmet hung in a sad knot around her shoulders. Her eyes were glazed over and she looked ill.
“Please, get me out…” she moaned, her voice cracking. I felt tears in my eyes.
“Oh, what happened? How could your sister do this to you? Wildfire…” I said. At the mention of her name Fighter stomped her hoof and pinned her ears.
“I hate her.” She muttered. “I HATE HER! SHE’S NOT MY SISTER!!” she screamed and reared up, causing me to back away.
“I’ll get you out! Wait, I know what to do!” he said. “I put a spell on this dungeon to step ponies teleporting out….” I closed my eyes and focused my mind. Slowly I felt my heart being crushed by the weight of the spell, and I struggled to stand. Suddenly a sheet of magic spread out from my horn, surrounding the cells. I went up to the ceiling and disappeared. I’d done it.
I heard cries and whinnies from around me, and all of a sudden bursts of light erupted from each and every cell, with ponies disappearing, taking each other away.
“I can’t… I’m too weak…” whispered Fire Fighter.
Suddenly I reached out with my hoof and touched her. She looked up, and I teleported her out of the cell right next to me. “We need to find your mother.” I said.
“We can’t, I heard they’re got her someplace you’ll never find, they wanted to make extra precautions.” She muttered.
At her words my heart cracked. Poor Aka. But one day, I was going to find her. Right now, I needed to get my daughter safe, and maybe even Sparkle Flame too. We were all going to overcome this threat, one hoof at a time.

Dusk

This is written from Dusk's point of view. The stories seem to be getting more intense.

I paced my room. Back and forth. Back and forth. I was stressed, bored and lonely, all at the same time. Nearly 24 hours a day I was locked in my chambers. Yes, my room was large and full of luxurious items, but I wasn’t allowed to go anywhere, do anything.
Ever since Wildfire came to power.
You see, I am responsible for raising the moon, and my sister Dawn is responsible for raising the sun. For most of the world, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna do these jobs, but the Jewel Empire is special, having it’s own Sun and Moon.
We are both Pegasi though. We don’t have horns. However, around both of our necks is an amulet, that only we can control. Wildfire didn’t lock us away in dungeons, because she holds no power strong enough or unique enough to do these duties. Instead she keeps us in our rooms, letting us out only to maintain the solar and lunar balance over the Empire.
I missed Dawn. She was only just across the corridor, but... she was my best friend as well as my sister.
It was almost time for me to do my job. I waited before the door of my room, that had a large crescent moon carved into it, studded with beautiful amethysts and sapphires. Suddenly I saw the handle turn and a Fireball guard stood before me.
“It’s time.” He said, in a flat tone. I held my head high and stalked past him, my purple tail ‘accidentally’ flicking up and slapping him in the face. I smirked and he tried to lunge forward at me, but I gave him a glare signalling for him to stay put. I was a high-ranked pony, who should be treated almost like royalty, even where I was at the moment.
I walked down the corridor to a balcony. I stood on it and looked down at the castle and Laheb City. I heard clopping hooves behind me and didn’t look around as Dawn joined me. We glanced at each other, swapping a warm smile, before suddenly thrusting forward our chests. I felt the amulet warm against my body, and I flew upwards. I closed my eyes and suddenly felt the weight of the moon. I pulled as hard as I could, feeling it come up. The light suddenly faded, as Dawn lowered her glowing sun. It became dark and within a moment my moon was high in the sky. The warmth on my chest disappeared, and I lowered myself down onto the balcony.
I looked at Dawn as she blew her yellowish orange hair away from her face. She gave me a weak smile. I leant forward and gave her a nuzzle.
“Thanks Dusk.” She said. “Let’s hope we’ll see more of each other soon. Hopefully one day Wildfire will be overpowered…” she faded off. I winced.
“She will. Don’t worry. We will spend more time together, I promise.” I said. And I was going to keep that promise. Somehow.
I turned and began walking back down the corridor. Dawn followed behind and I walked into my room. I snorted at the guard as he closed the door behind me, and I heard the lock click. If only I was a unicorn; I would’ve already escaped.
Now what was I going to do? It was night, and I was like a bat. Or an owl. Or something else that adored and embraced the night. But it wasn’t easy to do so when you weren’t allowed to leave your own bedroom, or even gaze out the window at the stars.
But what if I could? What if I somehow escaped? Maybe that way I could keep my promise to my younger sister. But how to do so? I couldn’t believe the thought had never crossed my mind.
We were watched by Fireball Pegasus guards every morning and evening as we did our duties. That way we couldn’t just fly away. But if I knocked out those guards, or distracted them, my plan could work…
I wicked smile crossed my face. That was what I was going to do in the morning. I fluttered upwards for a moment with pure joy, before going over to my desk to pass the time.

* * *
I heard a knock at the door and lifted my lazy head. I small puddle of drool was on the desk. I had obviously been asleep.
I got up quickly and ran over to the door. Now was my chance! I waited patiently as the door opened. A guard stood before me.
“It’s time.” He said in the same flat voice. I rolled my eyes. Suddenly another evil smile came to me and turned around.
“Lady Dusk,” The guard growled. I stood on my front legs, pulled my hind ones back, when suddenly pushing them forward. I felt them come in contact with the Fireball stallion’s head. It felt painful.
I turned around just as he thudded to the ground. I had given him a slight cut, but he was still breathing. I gave him a tail flick to the shoulder, which gave him a red mark.
“Dusk, you should really stop messing with him.” I muttered under my breath. Suddenly I heard a door click open, and down the hall was Dawn, walking out of her room. She tip-toed around the guard before her, obviously intimidated by him, when she suddenly spotted my guard.
She galloped over in shock.
“Dusk!” she gasped. “Is he…dead?”
“No, silly.” I chuckled. “I’ve knocked him out so we can escape.”
That was a mistake.
Dawn’s guard overheard and turned around. He began to gallop away down the hall, going to alert the Queen.
“Stop!” I cried. But it was too late. The unicorn had disappeared in a puff of fire and smoke. Now we had to move fast. Tonight there was only one Pegasus guard, my one, who was unconscious on the ground. No others were around, so I winked to my shocked sister and galloped down the hall towards the balcony. She charged after me and I leapt off the ledge, soaring into the sky.
“Dusk,” whined Dawn, as she followed. I waited for her to catch up, before speeding away. I wanted to leave the palace and city as fast as I could, before we were caught. I beat my wings harder and harder.
Over the city we quickly went. I saw a mountainous forest not far away, and went for that. The forest around here were full of magical, dangerous beings, but the Fireballs were scarier. We needed to hide.
Soon we were soaring over the forest. I looked at Dawn and saw that she was whimpering. I felt sorry for her.
I soared down, through the treetops and into the woods. They were dark. And scary. Dawn landed next to me and huddled near my side. I put my wing around her for a moment. She wasn’t little. She was nearly as tall as me. But she obviously needed protection.
I heard a roar in the distance. This place was dangerous. But we needed to stay away from the guards. I didn’t want to have a life of imprisonment.

* * *
I slowly opened my eyes. It was still night. Well, obviously, we hadn’t bothered changing it. But we needed to.
We were lying beneath a large log, with a cave-like ditch beneath. We were surrounded by large shrubs and ferns, protected from prowling creatures. Dawn lay next to me, my black wing wrapped over her body.
I drew it back towards me, folding it on my side. She stirred and opened her eyes, smiling when she saw my face. However, when she noticed our surroundings she gasped.
“Sssh. Remember? We escaped.” I cooed.
“Oh.” She said. She yawned a little.
“Come on. We need to raise the sun.” I said.
“Really?” she groaned. “But then other ponies can see us.” I nodded.
“Come on.” We both got up and flew into the sky.
Soon it was done, and the morning sun shone brightly down upon us. But we needed to get going. I began walking up the slope. The trees were very thick, and began to get thicker. In only a few moments the canopy was almost blocking out the sunshine.
And blocking out the very thing we were worried about.
All of a sudden I stopped. My hooves dug into the soft soil. “What’s wrong sis?” asked Dawn.
“Something’s watching us. I can…. Feel it.” I replied. Dawn squeaked and turned around. It was different; she was normally so very confident.
Abruptly I heard the leaves above us rustle, but there was no breeze. I looked up, seeing the sun shine in golden rays onto our dark spot. Then there were shadows over those rays.
“Fireballs!” screamed Dawn. Her tall, slender legs began to move, and she began to gallop away. I followed, my hooves pounding over the dirt, kicking it up.
I heard yells behind us and saw Fireballs chasing us. Their pupil-less eyes angered as they tried to catch up. The unicorns began shooting red-hot magic at us, and the Pegasi chased us over-head.
A jet of magic landed right next to me, making the dirt explode upwards. Another one went for Dawn, and she dodged it. Her eyes filled with tears and her wings flew up. She beat them and began soaring.
I copied, and we dodged the trees and magic shots. One of them hit a large oak, and it began to topple down. I screamed and pushed Dawn out of the way. It blocked our pursuers path, and we flew on.
I looked above and saw the Fireballs overhead. They knew exactly where we were. We couldn’t escape from them. I beat my wings harder. They were a lot larger than the Fireballs’ ones, but theirs were better trained.
I dodged another jet of magic and we rounded a turn, swooping down a slope. We were going deeper into the forest, into the thicker trees. It was dark.
At last we lost the flying enemies. But the magic ones were speeding towards us, still shooting at us rapidly.
Up ahead was a cliff face with a cave, surrounded by very dark trees and vines. We were approaching it fast, but we couldn’t go inside. They’d corner us. I turned sharply, but suddenly I heard a squeal. Dawn had her leg caught in a vine, and they were catching up to us.
This vine seemed alive, and it literally crept up her leg. She screamed, tears streaming down her cheeks like a waterfall. All of a sudden a jet of magic was thrown at us, which cut the vine. It snapped sharply, and Dawn was thrown forwards. She landed in the cave in a sad heap, her wing bent.
“Dawn! NO!” I screamed, glancing at the fast approaching gang.
Then, from deep in the cave, came a deafening roar. Smoke seeped out, causing us to choke. An enormous, deep orange head appeared, yellow eyes gleaming. Its scales around its head were raised in anger.
It was a sea dragon. A sea dragon making its home in the forest for the season. And it was angry.
But it didn’t go for us. It stomped out, almost treading on us. It roared again. I couldn’t see what was going on. The dragon blocked the view. All of a sudden a feeling of regret flooded through me. We shouldn’t stayed at the castle.
Dawn winced in pain. Her wing was bent back terribly, with little orange-shading feathers lying around.
I nuzzled her. “Get up. We’ll walk into the cave.” I said. Maybe the dragon was nice. Maybe he’d let us in. Sea dragons were known for being very intelligent.
I helped Dawn to her hooves and we crept down into the cave, listening to the deafening roar of the dragon.

Candy

This is written from Candy's point of view.

I lifted my pink hoof up to my forehead, wiping away the sweat and pushing my mane away from my face. My head hurt from over-using my magic, and my hooves had cramps from all the sewing.
Wildfire, I mean, Queen Wildfire, had ordered me to make her ten of the most stunning dresses in the Jewel Empire. If even one of them didn’t meet her ‘requirements’, I was to be put in the dungeons for a month.
Word had got out that the anti-teleporting spell had been broken in the dungeons, and two thirds of the prisoners had escaped. It was the ex-king’s doing. But he and most of his army escaped.
I turned around and levitated a large ruby-studded golden ribbon over to me. I fashioned it into a bow and placed it on the top of the dress right behind where the wings would be. I had just completed the eighth dress.
I put my head down and panted. It was such hard work. I had a passion for dress-making, it was my special talent, but this was exhausting. I had already used up almost all of my fanciest and most expensive fabrics and accessories, and I still had two pieces to go! I decided to try my luck at getting more.
I crossed the to the door which I opened. A Fireball guard stood before me.
“Monsieur, I request your service.” I said. He didn’t even look at me. “As one of ze Queen’s assistants and Royal Dressmaker, I demand zat you listen!” I demanded.
He glanced over at me. “And what would your request be, madam.” He sniffed.
“First of all, that is not how you should speak to high-ranked ponies, sir!” I replied. “Second, you may travel into ze city and buy me five boxes of ze finest materials and accessories.”
“Me? I am a guard. I do not take such requests.” He said in a gruff tone, turning to look blankly at the wall with his pupil-less eyes.
“Then you shall escort me into ze city yourself.” I said, as I turned away too and flicked my tail. He sniffed as it hit him in the cheek.
“Yes, Candy.” He said.
“May we teleport?” I asked. The guard nodded.
I touched him on the shoulder, and it felt very hot. I snorted and teleported us swiftly away.
We landed in the town square, near the fountain of the alicorn soldier. There were many gasps around as the city citizens noticed my companion.
“Ignore him.” I said in a snobby tone. “He is escorting me.”
I stalked away, making my way down a cobblestone street. I knew my perfectly through this part of town, with all the fancy boutiques and markets.
Up ahead a saw a sign with ‘Pegasus Parlour’ written on it in fancy letters. My favourite store. I was always welcome inside, but I didn’t enjoy the company of the Fireball.
I walked in, opening the door with my green magic. A little bell rang overhead, and a yellow unicorn mare ran to the counter.
“Candy!” she said happily, greeting me. “Oh my, what’s with the palace guard?”
“Bonjour Sun Flower!” I replied. “Oh, not allowed out of the palace. On a mission for the Queen.” Sun Flower turned up her nose.
“Oh. Poor you. What kind of ‘mission’?” she asked.
“I was forced to make ten of ze finest gowns in the Empire! Ten! I was threatened to be locked in the dungeons if it didn’t work.” I mumbled.
“Oh my!” said Sun Flower, shocked. “I hope it works well.”
“If it gets done I’m a free unicorn again. Obviously still holding the role of Royal Dressmaker though.” I said.
“Hurry up.” Growled the guard. “Stop your gossiping and get this done.”
“Fine.” I sniffed.

* * *
I pushed over 30 gems (the Jewel currency, they were just quartz cut into circles) and Sun Flower collected them up.
“Carry my boxes.” I ordered the guard. He grunted a curse and used his fire magic to lift up the five huge boxes. We left the store and went down the street to the square, where I teleported us and the boxes back to the door of my castle workshop.
I grabbed the boxes in my magic and went through the door, not bothering to thank the guard. I slammed the door in his face and brought the packages over near my two last bare mannequins.
I opened the first box. It was full of fancy ribbons, threads and gem studded bands. The second was far larger and full of gorgeous silky fabrics, all the right colours of red, orange, yellow and blue.
The third had some little decoration fabrics like lace. And the two last boxes had accessories like gems, flower hair pieces and little brooches shaped like the Empire’s emblem.
I looked blankly at one of the mannequins. They were taller, more slender than normal ones, because these dresses were to fit royal alicorns.
I had completely run out of inspiration. I’d used it all up on the other dresses. I levitated my red glasses over and placed them on the end of my nose. I decided this would be a small, casual dress, only to be worn at simple parties and to dinners. I didn’t think the Queen would go to either of those, but as long as this looked shiny and expensive, she’d see past that.
I made a silky neckpiece, with a large ruby at the front, with two orange silk ribbons dangling down beneath it. The back bit was simple with a tiny thread of lace down each side, and the holes for each wing had a ring of sapphires around it. The flowing gown bit went down just past the bend in the mannequins legs, and at the very back just above where the tail would be beneath the dress, I placed a big red bow. I also got a gold flame-shaped head piece studded with sapphires.
It would suit her perfectly. If her fiery alicorn princessness didn’t grab the attention of ponies at the dinner parties, the gems and sparkle on this elegant skirt would. I smiled at it proudly, blowing the hair away from my face.
I decided that this next dress would be the biggest. It would be the most amazing, most stunning, most sparkling gown in all of Laheb City! No, in the Jewel Empire! This time, I wasn’t doing this just for the Queen and her snobby expectations, I was doing it for my reputation! That is, if she told anypony it was me.

* * *
I spread my legs and put my head down to breath. It was done. And I was proud of it. It was the most amazing, most stunning, most sparkling gown in all of the Jewel Empire. This would surely give me a good reputation as a dress maker, and more importantly, stop me from going to the dungeons.
The brooch at the front on the chest was a large Empire Emblem. And I didn’t make it from the ones in the box, the jewel was actually a large diamond. The collar went around the neck in large flame-like layers. On the wing-holes were strips of fabrics covered in sapphires and rubies, that went up the wing to the bend in it. The gown was layers and layers of gorgeous silks, making it large but very light and flowing. There was a bow at the back, and along the folds of fabrics going around the dress were the little brooches of the Emblem. The final layer had a line of tiny diamonds, that made it sparkle. It also had a head piece just like the previous dress.
I sighed a happy sigh, delighted that my project was complete. I gave the dress a stroke, feeling the silky smoothness. I glanced to the side and suddenly caught my reflection in a mirror on the other side of the room. My mane was a mess, I had multiple pencils sticking out from behind my ears, and my glasses were lop-sided.
But it was done.
I used my magic to place all the heavy gowns upon a large wheeled rack, and made my way towards the door with it. I went through and pushed it into the corridor and closed the door behind me. The same guard stood near it.
“Impressive, no?” I smirked, flicking my mane back. He lifted an eyebrow, but didn’t move anything else. I sniffed again and began pushing my rack along the corridors.
It seemed like ages before I finally reached an enormous door. Upon it was a large sun with flames coming out beneath it. It was Queen’s room.
I drew in a big breath, very nervous for the result of this. I knocked upon the door three times with my hoof and waited.
“Enter!” called a voice. Definitely Wildfire.
I sighed again and opened the door, letting myself and my rack in. The room was spectacular. Her bed was large with curtains, the walls were lined with books, and there were many expensive pieces of art and sculptures. Queen Wildfire lay on a mat with a large sun on it, as she sorted through some books.
I gulped put on a brave smile, bringing the rack forward.
“Aaaah! You’ve finished have you?” she said, standing. Her fiery mane crackled and danced just like flames. I was beginning to wonder whether it actually was, but I didn’t dare go close enough to see.
She sorted through the rack with her magic, looking at each and every one it perfect detail. I felt my stomach dance with butterflies, absolutely terrified.
Suddenly she came to the second last one, the short dinner party one. She drew it out and held it up between both our faces.
“It’s a little… short.” She said, and her voice sounded like heated hissing.
“Oui, your majesty, it is a special gown, designed catch the attention of guests at dinner parties, but not too… formal like a ball gown.” I gulped again, desperately hoping she’d take that reason.
“Very well.” She said. Then she got to the last one. I saw her red eyes literally light up. “What is this?” she asked.
“The most amazing, most stunning, most sparkling gown in all of the Jewel Empire.” I replied proudly.
“It… it almost is! I am very impressed!” she said. My jaw dropped. Wildfire wasn’t one to say that.
“And your highness, please forgive me, but it would honour me very much if you mentioned the pony who crafted it for you…” I said in an exasperated tone. Wildfire gave me a look.
“Very well. You have outdone yourself, and I shall pay you for it by saying such a thing.” Suddenly her horn lit up and she floated over a small bag. “Take this and leave.” She said. She took the rack and turned away.
I held the bag of gems with my magic and walked out the door.
I was amazed. I had actually impressed the evil Queen! And she would tell who made them! I would soon become the most famous dress maker in all the land. Except at a cost of working for her...
