She looked up at him, slightly surprised. "Haven't I caused you enough trouble?" she wondered. "Look at you" she sighed and nuzzled his back leg gently. "It's my fault that your hurt. That other stallion was right, I've got no manners and I'm not good enough to be in a herd. Why didn't you let me sink?" she whimpered. She sighed as she realized she had distracted him from caring for a mare who needed it much more than she did. The cremello hung her head, ashamed at herself.

Nightingale's ears flicked at the other mare. She felt bad aswell..but couldn't place why. Giving Iris a soft nuzzle on the head, she wasn't sure wether to stand or stay on the ground to keep the mare warm. Descions..desicons..She sighed feeling like a small helpless foal.

She squeezed her blue eyes shut and sighed, she couldn't just let the injured mare suffer. She walked sheepishly into Inferno's cave and looked at one of the other mares (Nightingale). "What can I do to help" she nickered, her eyes were full o the shame that she felt over herself. "I'll do anything" she assured them.

Sorrow Of An Iris
She stayed still. She could hear Inferno and Night, but she couldn't hear exactly what they where saying. She only heard murmurs. She had a feeling that she wouldn't even make it through the night. She could feel Infernos warmth, but she forced it away from her cold body and back to him. He needed it more than she did anyways. She was just a useless mare. Nobody really ever cared about her. They always just wanted her to expand blood lines. Inferno had mares to care for. Maybe even foals in the future. She was just a mare; and nothing really mattered to her anymore. Inferno had more reasons to survive. She had none.

Ghost moved lithely through the snow, his gait fluid. He was born for this weather, having been here since birth. He loved the camouflage the snow gave him. In any other situation he would have stood out for all to see. A low whicker greeted his ears. He paused in his journey, before turning in the direction the sound came from. Sighting a mare and a very small foal, he changed his direction towards them.
"Are you ok? What are you doing out in this blizzard with a young one?" He asked neutrally, seemingly materialising out of the snow itself.

Nightingale glanced at Dancer "I..I don't know" she stutted, laying close to the mare "Iris..don't" she urged. If the mare did die, Night would probally be depressed and saddened. She felt like half of this was her fault..all her fault. The shire layed her head down, hoping and praying to whatever horse god, that Iris would make it. She had to.every mare had too.

Inferno made whimpering sound. He had no idea why but he was really determined on having this mare around. After going through everything to helo her, he would be at fault for her demise. The thought made him want to drown himself. "No...Please Iris...You mean a lot...Don't you want a future? To feel the sun again? A family? Please. If you go..." He stopped speaking and leaned his head on her neck, ears back. Inferno felt fine physically, but his inside felt like it was being orn at by mountain lions. He looked to Dancer at her question. "I...I am not sure...it is up to her. If she even wants to come back to us. To me."She was not a burden. She was a gift.

Sailor's Light and Jinx's Sundown
Sailor lifted her dark bay head and watched Ghost with her dark blue eyes. "I'm trying to find shelter for my dying filly." She nuzzled Jinx softly. Jinx shivered violently and pressed against Sailors belly trying to be warm. Anxiety and terror filled through Sailor. She turned to Ghost, her eyes pleading for help. "Please help me..." She pleaded and pressed herself against Jinx trying to keep her filly from freezing to death.

She strayed closer to the injured mare. "Please, Iris. Don't do this, you have a family, horses who live you. You have done nothing wrong, you know nothing of sins. If any horse in this cave deserves to die, it's me. You have a pure heart and a beautiful soul, something mares like me can only envy and wish we had" she slightly whimpered. "You can't just go, you must keep fighting. I know you can" she urged the blue roan.

Ghost snorted, long plumes emitted from the warm breath coming from his nostrils. He held his head high, and gave a slightly imperceptible nod. His base instinct was always to protect, and that's what he would do. Sidling in closer, watching the mare to at any time back off if she didn't agree (he knew how protective mares were about foals), he pressed his side into the opposite side of the little frozen filly. His shaggy coat acted as a natural heat source.
"There's a valley not far from here I frequent. The trees shelter it and because it's in a dip the wind blows straight over and not down into it. If you come with me, I can take you there."
