Entertaining guests was a specialty of Prince KC's. Visitors would gather around him, their eyes glued to his face and their ears only hearing his words. His father called it a talent, and his tutors called it a skill. Either way, he was very good at it. Most times, he would tell tales of adventures he had embarked on a few years back, adding many embellishments, of course. His every word captivated all of his guests, and so they were kept in good company. There were times, though, the that prince would tire of speaking to old files and lords, and he would venture out to the groups of young ladies, who flirted intensely behind their frilly fans. Since tonight's ball was a masquerade, no one was quite sure who was who, but everyone had guessed which boisterous man the prince was. And most guessed correctly.
There he stood, in the center of a circle of young woman, roaring in laughter and smiling all around. The women surrounding him fluttered their eyelashes and blushed at his words. Ah, it was good to be the star once more.

The savory smell of roasted pork drifted through the air as Tristan ducked into the gypsy stall that had been hastily set up prior to the masquerade. An elderly woman perched on a stool behind rows of masks and feathers. She scrutinized the prince, not unkindly and asked, "Might I ask what you're looking for, young man?" She splayed her fingers across the many different materials laid out before her. "I've got many deep red masks that should match your outfit well, sure. What do you say?" Tristan smiled at the older woman, who smiled back, revealing a set of crooked teeth.
Pointing to a simple burgundy mask embellished with black swirly patterns, he said, "I shall get this one, if you please." The woman cackled in delight, confirming that his decision of masks had been wise. Trading the mask for the money, she bid him farewell and he her as the prince exited the colorful stall and appeared once more on the bustling streets of Avalon. Looking down at his clumpy set of clothes, he set out to a different stall in search for an outfit to match his new mask. Entering a small tailor's shop, the prince went up to the counter and greeted the man warmly. He was obviously the tailor. The man led Tristan to a back room, after hearing his request for a set of clothes that would match the particular mask. Pointing to a certain mannequin, and stripping it of its garments. The clothes were a bit loose on the prince, but they looked well enough for the masquerade. Thanking an paying the tailor, the prince slipped his dark red mask on and headed back towards the palace.
Glancing at the clock tower near one of the castle turrets, Tristan hurriedly entered the grand doors that led to the magnificent ballroom. He had been just on time. Men and women were already dancing to a lively waltz, though most were straggling around the refreshments and outdoors in the gardens. Stepping over to one of the large windows, he glanced about the room, trying to determine who he knew.{

This picnic will soon depart
Real life, I'm sad to see you go
I'll miss you with all my heart
But I'd rather be a l o n e
Dreams don't turn to dust
Tyler Black
Knight - 17 - Avalon
Tyler smiled politely at the girl in the golden dress. "Of course. Every girl has to feel like a princess, don't you think? Why can't a peasant feel beautiful and loved? And why can't a princess be free? If everybody's happy, I'm content. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen." Tyler smiled at the girl in blue. "I would love to dance with you." he said to the princess. "Only I also have other duties to forfill, so I might have to leave soon."
The fire I began

Serena Alice Jones Eldest Princess - 18 - Elyadon
Serena sighed softly as the carriage rode up towards the palace. The princess put on her dark blue mask right before the carriage stopped. The driver opened the door for her and Serena got out, thanking the driver. She sighed as she looked at the castle, noticing people were entering it. Serena bit her lip before she slowly walked inside, hoping she would find somebody familiar.

⊰ "Samuel" Bridgewell when in disguise ⊱
⊰ Head Avalon Knight ⊱ ⊰ Female ⊱ ⊰ Nineteen years old ⊱ ⊰ Disguised as a male? [yes] [no] ⊱
Samantha realized that it was time to go to the dance. She put the red dress on, then put on a long, black cloak so people didn't recognize that she was riding "Samuel's" horse. But what was she to do with her armor boots? She shook her head. That didn't matter. Her dress would cover up her boots. Besides, she had to hide a long dagger in her boot, just in case of an emergency. Samantha walked outside her cottage and went towards Lyonus, her horse. He was a beautiful chestnut colored horse with a black mane and four white socks. Lyonus had been with Samantha ever since she first came to Avalon, so he was special to her. He neighed softly as Samantha mounted him. Samantha hoped she didn't look too suspicious riding on Lyonus. After all, she was wearing a black cloak. The guards might see her as a threat. She would have to ride quickly. Samantha mounted Lyonus, then rode towards the castle.
After arriving at the town, Samantha dismounted and led Lyonus to the royal stables. Some passerby's gave her a weird look. She put Lyonus into a stall that was for the head knight, then left. All she needed to do now was buy a mask then head on towards the ball. She walked over towards a nearby shop that was selling masks. Her hood on her cloak was covering her face, so the shop owner couldn't see her face. The store owner looked at Samantha with a strange look. He's probably suspicious of my appearance... Samantha pointed towards a red mask with white and black feathers. The store owner gave a look of realization. "Ah! I see. coverin' up your appearance for the ball, aren't ye? Well, here ya go!" He gave Samantha the mask after she paid. "Thank you." Samantha said, then walked off. She re-entered the stables, and took off her cloak, revealing the dress she was wearing, as well as her recognizable face. She put the cloak on top of Lyonus, then put the mask on her face. She smiled and soon walked over towards the ballroom.

Nickolas Nathaniel Jonathon Charles ~ Prince ~ Elyadon ~ Age 15~Born when the first star appeared in the night sky,
This boy will never lie.
And no matter how they try,
This curse will not die.~
~But when he turns eighteen,
It has been foreseen,
That the curse will be lifted,
And he will be one of the gifted.~
Nick stopped in front of a jewelry stall that particularly stood out from all the others. He had spent a few minutes wandering around the 'jewelry section', hoping to find some exquisite pieces, most were all just cheap junk, until he found this stall. Although many people would probably describe it as quite dirty, small and the pieces need good polishing. It was hidden away behind a tree and looked after by an old lady whose back was crooked but she had a kind smile. The other stalls were swarming with buyers but it was quiet at this particular stall.
Nick frowned as looked back and forth for a piece that his Mother would like, and then he spotted an aquamarine and diamond piece. It was a necklace on a silver chain with the jewels dangling like two teardrops. Although a bit cloudy, Nick decided that it was the perfect piece. He nodded at the old shopkeeper who grinned at him, showing him her smile. "Dear boy, you have chosen well. This piece was brought to me by a traveler who has visited far off lands, it is quite the exquisite piece, here let me polish it for you." Nick handed the piece over and the lady carefully scrubbed it with a wet cloth. The cloth must have been soaked into some specially mixed liquid that allowed the piece to shine so brightly after. Nick took out a few gold coins and gave it to the old lady in exchange for the piece. She looked surprised at him and shook her head. Nick nodded, "Just accept it," he said before smiling and walking away, tucking the piece into his pocket.
The palace was already swarming with people by the time he went in. He casually went upstairs and opened a random door. The room was empty, with a small fireplace that was already lit and recently stoked and a few couches. Nick smiled and dumped his bag on the floor. He quickly got changed into his masquerade wear and mask, and stuffed his ordinary clothes into the bag. He took out the recently purchased piece of jewelry and placed it securely in his pocket. Though he kept his sword, just in case he needed it and placed two small daggers into his boot. If he wasn't allowed the sword, well, Nick would just go back to Elyadon. He went out the room, taking his bag with him, now he had to place it somewhere... Nick ran outside the palace and saw a carriage with the Elyadon crest and ran after it. It had just dropped off a passenger with flaming red hair, he smiled - Serena. The carriage stopped for him and he requested the driver to look after his belongings and gave him a few coins, thanking him.
Nick walked back to the palace, searching for the red hair and spotted it. He ran up to Serena and tapped her shoulder. Lowering his voice, making it sound gruff, he said, "My lady, what beauty you possess, may I request the first dance?" He bowed and then stood up.
((DreamHaven ~ Don't worry about it, I had nothing else to do so going through the other posts was quite interesting.))

Serena turned around when somebody tapped her shoulder, a bit surprised. The girl had been deep in thoughts for the last minutes. She thought to recognize her brother in the person, but his voice was different. Serena smiled politely. "I would be honoured, my lord." she replied.

Scarlett
Avalon | Tavern Girl
"Oh father, it's beautiful..." she sighed, running her fingers through the silky fabric as she twirled in front of the mirror. Her father watched appreciatively from the bed. Scarlett stopped making herself dizzy; hardly recognising the girl her stared back at her with wide brown eyes, "Father, are you sure. I -"
Her father cut her off abruptly for the twentieth time of the hour, "Yes I'm sure. Your mother would be proud of how you look. My little baby girl...." he broke of, his voice choking up slightly. Scarlett turned, bounding over to her fathers bedside and cradling his head, she smiled sadly, "Don't make me cry papa." she said softly this time. Her father handed her three gold coins, and her eyes widened slightly. He gently closed them in her palm, "Buy a nice mask darling. You'll be the belle of the ball."
He stopped her protest by a squeeze of the hand. Scarlett slipped on her mucky stable boots, holding her delicate white plimsolls in another. Her makeup had already been sparingly applie and her chocolate hair was curled on her head into a tight shell shape. She had not managed to get all the tendrils of hair though; so some still hang down.
She hitched the garment up to her knees and ran out into the street. No doubt she was late. She came to the first peddler stand she saw. As she browsed the masks she came to a beautifully simple white one. It just covered her eyes; resting on the bridge of her nose. Three long feathers protruded upwards from the centre; the outer two a simple white; yet the middle was a brilliant gold. Hastily, she paid the peddler with the three gold coins and placed the mask on, hiding her identity.
Scarlett hurried through the backstreets, dress still hitched up to her thighs for fear of dirtying the white material. Once she was just about at the castle courtyard, she pulled off her boots; hiding them behind a wall and slipped on her glossy silk plimsolls. Now, she felt like a Princess.
Scarlett walked into the grand castle; a place she had only been once. Even then it was a visit to the kitchens when she was just a girl. She hesitated as she entered the hall. Many other people were packed into the walls. How many Princesses? How many Knights? How many Princes? She suddenly felt very naked.
The lowly tavern girl stood, debating whether to turn and run. It was not that she looked out of place; she was dressed in an ivory dress that just trailed the floor. A tight corset clung to her chest; detailed with golden lace. the skirt of the dress ballooned out; in true ball gown style, enveloping her in material.
The silk and lace gown had been her mothers wedding dress. How she had afforded such a commodity; Scarlett would never know.

Nick chuckled and winked at her through his mask. "No, it would be my honour," he said, switching back to his normal voice. He looked around, trying to see if he could see Tristan anywhere. Tristan did go to buy new clothes, so I doubt I'll be able to recognise him. Nick sighed and then turned back to Serena and smiled.

Serena chuckled as she now clearly recognized Nick's voice. She smiled at him. "I knew it was you." she said. Serena's gaze moved to his sword and noticed the emblem of Elyadon. She followed his gaze, wondering who he was looking for. "I haven't seen any other siblings yet." she said. "But I suppose they are in a better disguise as I am." she smirked slightly, feeling a bit more comfortable as she had her brother close.
