Will you guys stop making guides. Its really annoying to have to sift through all the different guides to find the ones that will help the newbies . . . We already have a butterfly wolf guide that is going to be updated soon.

I like how people want to help and such, but to be honest, we don't really need all that many guides. The rarity guides are kind of pointless. We have the rarity system in the archive and the Rares list guide is of great help to me. And apart from the obvious "How to do such and such" guides. . . we just don't need them. . .

I think Tess and Nick should name each litter or something and stick the names on the archive images, that way we don't have 50 million guides of the same thing. . .

A Beginner's Guide to Butterfly Wolves
I've retired mine, so thank you for taking over.

But...before you create a guide, you might want to do research first before putting a guide in place. I researched for a long while before creating CS's 1st Guide. (And yup, mine was way before Atwoods. After I created mine, they started popping up all over. I think Sorren Fey's posting in mine kept up the pace.) So yeah, know you're stuff first, please.

No, it's okay guys, if she wants to take over, it's really okay. I'm pretty sick now with fibromyalgia, so I'm not doing well most days. So if she wants to take over, it's all good. I really don't mind. It saves me a lot of the trouble. Most days I honestly just sit here and read, not posting.

So feel free to take over Lily-Beth, you're cool in my book!

Yep, my guide was more of a revival, since the two old dog name guides created during the big 'guide craze' in July '09 died out and there were many dogs that weren't on either of them. ^^ The very first guide was Solloby's rareness guide in October '08, I think, but FlitterRayne's butterfly wolf guide was the one that started the idea of creating guides for specific pet types. :3

Here are the ones I (more or less) remember the names of:
August '08 and September '08: these were collectively known as the 'front-page' butterfly wolves because they were always available to adopt (e.g. Red Front-page Butterfly Wolf, Teal Front-page Butterfly Wolf, etc.).
June '09 'Fairy Wolf': these were known mainly as the Shima Butterfly Wolves as I remember, with the Blue, Light Pink and Dark Pink Shimas.
October '09 unnamed: the Pale Leopard and the Bright Leopard as I recall (because they looked like the Leopard dogs). January '10 'Dreamcatchers': these were the Black Lace, White Lace and Brown Lace.
April '10 'Baby Wolf': these were the Pink and Blue Fairy Butterfly Wolves, named for their bright sparkly fairy look.

One of the 2nd Gen caterpillars is missing - this little guy with the strong black markings on the back. :3

Frankly, I think someone who's willing to keep up with the guide as well as Atwood does with hers (his? lol, sorry Atwood) should quote Flitters' in its entirety and continue on from there. (Fixing the broken images of course)
FlitterRayne, your guide was one of the best - and the kind of history and context it gives each litter is invaluable as many of us were not around for their release.

I also think that people making guides need to have knowledge coming into this. Relying on others to come in and correct every single name defeats the purpose. Plus making up names and giving wrong ones just makes everything more confusing, which is the opposite of what a guide is supposed to do.

You also need to make sure you're ready to commit to give your guide the level of attention it deserves. Atwood is on the monthly discussion threads checking out what we're calling each new litter and adding them accordingly each month. Without this (awesome) level of dedication we'll just end up with another dead and outdated guide.

Perhaps we need a serious guide to making guides? Lol I can't find the original on the Index list anymore.

I think you're right, Deja. A name guide is good, and welcomed! But one with a bit more information flushed out is a good compliment as well!

Lily-Beth, please, continue to update your guide to BW names! I'll give you what info I come up with in research if you'd like as I update my guide. Just let me know if you would not like me too. I don't mind a bit. But, for CS's sake, it's nice to have accurate information.
