Sample 1:
Cody parked his car in the parking-lot of Starbucks and sat there for a minute. He was fairly tired, and even though he didn’t particularly like coffee it was the only thing that would be keeping him up. He ran his hands through his hair sleepily as he pulled the keys from the ignition and got out, shutting the car door and locked it. He shoved the keys into his pocket and made his way slowly down the side-walk. He had noticed Anna’s dog before he’d noticed Anna herself.
Cody laughed softly, quietly as her four dogs licked and sniffed at him. He gently pets them which was a hard job as they were fairly hyper, or so it seemed. He looked up to see Anna. “Hey Anna. It’s fine,” He said with a small shrug brushing it off. Cody liked dogs but his mother had a strict policy of no animals what-so-ever so he’d never really ever gotten the chance to own a pet. He pushed his hair away from his forehead and shoved his hands into his pockets nervously.
“So, how’ve you been?” Cody asked her quietly, shyly. He really liked Anna but was too shy to even tell her. He’d never been one to hold many conversations that long so it really wouldn’t be a huge surprise to him if she didn’t even like him. He suddenly wished he’d have brought his notebook to sit and draw while drinking coffee and try and calm down. It had even taken Cody a while to even get up the nerve to talk to her. He ran his finger along the side of his keys in his pocket trying to calm down. Cody suddenly wished he had stayed home today but knew no amount of wishing would help change that. He internally groaned wishing he didn’t like Anna so much. Then, maybe, it wouldn’t be so hard for him to talk to her. I’m so stupid, he thought angrily to himself.
Sample 2:
"You look so cute when you're worried," Alec murmured, more to himself than to her. "Making sure Mason's not here," he told her quietly, clenching his jaw slightly even having to mention his name. The conversation he had on the phone came rushing back to him and he had to choke down his feelings. He didn't want to hurt her at all, but he didn't want to her to get hurt physically. There's only so much a body can take, and honestly Alec wasn't sure which one he could bare more. The fact of hurting her and seeing the pain on her face knowing he causes the heart-break, or see the dead look in her eye if she ever returned. Alec had ever so slightly caught on the too voice and knew all too well what happened to those kidnapped and tortured, if they ever came back.
Alec didn't want to ever have Sydney go through that, even if he had to hurt her to keep it from happening. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind and wrapped his arm around her shoulders once more starting to slowly climb the stairs. At least I have about a day and a half to try and figure this all out... he thought with a small sigh. No matter how hard he tried he could barely be able to keep it out of his mind for very long. Alec hoped that the paint war would also help to keep his mind off of the dreaded event.
Sample 3:
"Thank you s-- Xavier," The cook said catching herself making Xavier smile softly. "If there's any way I can repay you," she said but Xavier cut her off. "Actually there is. Just a moment," he told her, motioning for her to follow as he walked out of the kitchen and back into the hall. "What's your all-time favorite food?" Xavier asked Olivia curiously. He leaned over whispering something in the cook's ear while she walked back into the kitchen. "Uncle Xavier! Uncle Xavier!" A younger boys voice called out as the pitter-patter of his bare feet on the tile echoed through the house as he raced towards him. The boy couldn't be much older than four or five. "Danny," Xavier exclaimed reaching down to swoop the boy up into the air making him squeal.
"Olivia, this is my nephew Danny. Danny, this is Olivia. Where's your mom?" Xavier asked looking around. "I don't know," Danny said honestly looking up at him with wide eyes. "Danny what're we going to do with you," he asked shaking his head sighing slightly though he was trying not to smile. "We can find her after we show Olivia her room. Guess we'll give you a tour of outside first," he told her with a small smile. Xavier shifted Danny in his arms so he could pick up her bag and swing it over his shoulder, starting to walk down the hall towards the first set of stairs.
