Re: The Semi-Literate+ Roleplayer's Club

Personally...I'm really tolerant. I'll point out mistakes if I can't understand it or if I find them amusing so both me and my partner can try to get a laugh out of it, considering it could be a typo.

But, if someone asks me to help them along the way, I will. I've had like 2-3 partners that aren't in this club, that PMed me when I was looking for certain 1x1s and admitted they stalked the thread. So, I offered to help them get in, and they also knew I was one of the instructors from the rp school.

Honestly, I suck at spelling sometimes too. I have a moment where I can't spell a simple word and I'm going "T_T I KNOW HOW TO SPELL THIS."

I think I'm tolerant towards everything. I know what it's like to be shot and/or put down because you aren't considered literate enough or whatever. But when people say it's my grammar? I highly doubt it, if it's not being pointed out by my English teachers. That's actually a crap reason to give me. (It's happened before .-.)

But, I'm not the kind to put lots of overflowing details and emotions or thoughts. Most, if not all, of my characters aren't the types that reveal much. Truthfully, if I see a super long post, I'll probably skim to see what interests me, read that first, then force myself to read the rest. Unless you drag my attention in from the start.

I don't like it when people are afraid to come to me for 1x1s. I'm always open to them, especially if it's a member from this club ^^ (btw, this is me, trying to coax people to do 1x1s with me sublimely [did I even use that word right? It was a word I learned a couple of years ago T_T])

Half the time I feel like mine are too long if in writing more than my partner, unless I simply know they're less literate than me. But I just sit down and write- its not like I force myself to do so, and that's what gets out down. It's not really fluffy- at least in my opinion- it's not like I'm going on and on about a blade of grass or one emotion. But I still end up posting like, four paragraphs.

And, I have to admit, I can't stand when someone has absolutely horrid grammar/spelling/sentence structure. A few slip ups here and there are fine, absolutely. But when you up a period in the middle of a sentence, or have a sentence that should be four, it drives me batty. Can't stand it. That's because I read it with the pauses and everything, and it comes out so... Odd in my head. >.<
But I'm no good at helping either. I try and help and then I worry I was mean .-.

Haha Rosie. You're polite ^^

But no, if I have something to go off on, or if I have tons of muse, chances are you'll see more than 2-3 paragraphs from me.

      >> I couldn't care less about a few slips ups here and there, but if there are consistent spelling errors or punctuation mistakes or clear lack of understanding about, for example, "they're", "their", and "there", or "your" and "you're". like, once in a while when you're like dead on your feet and you couldn't be bothered, fine, whatever, but like if you're doing that every single post then I start to get annoyed. my inner editor forces me to pick out mistakes wherever I see them. .-.

Since I feel like I spawned this discussion, let me throw my opinion in:
I feel that as a semi- lit writer, you should have proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as well as knowledge of the different kinds of sentence structures. If you can't tell the spell correctly, or write anything but simple sentences, then you need to take a step back and go over some basic rules before rping with me.
Two deal breakers for me are consistent mistakes with commas, and "there, their, they're" as well as "your and you're." I simply can't stand any of that.
I am willing to help people out, but when they say they have great spelling and grammar, and don't deliver on that, I get a bit angry. There are also spell checkers and grammar checkers on the internet, so you can quickly throw your post in one of those and have it proof- read. Most Word programs, too, have those two helpful items.

What people tend to forget, though, is that semi- lit isn't necessarily just about length. It's about content, and your writing level. A more advanced writing level is going to include things such as proper grammar, spelling, and puncuation.

When you join a 1x1, though, advertising great spelling and punctuation, and your first post looks like someone stomped on your keyboard as you were typing, that makes me a little angry >.<

I now have a RP site on which I do not have to worry about every slightly more obscure word I write. It is taking all of my muse away so I have no muse left for CS anymore.
I like RP'ing here, but I raelly get scared that if I make one mistake, I would b banned forever or so. I feel like their watchign over my shoulder... I feel like I have no real freedom to write here...

Ah well...
Sorry for those who are RP'ing with me on CS. I currently have no muse.

I should be making my Warriors roleplay tonight. Not sure which of the plots I will be using yet.
Having serious issues viewing dark colours at the moment. May delay replys to pms. Sorry.

The Leopard Pups
Grey, Black and White. The world revolves and we go with it. Twisting in this everlasting monotony, eyes of green and gold, watching and waiting for our chance, our time. Cytor, Liliana, Serenade, Bayonet, the Prankster, the sweet one, the mother and the lost soul. There birth was a lost event, one in a million, two wandering souls met in the shadows, and these four were created. There pups are the stuff of legend, one lost there sight, one lost there path, one lost there love and the other? The other lost his family, everyone they cared about. He lost his family.
