Samuel smiled wearily as he saw the large, tall, castle-like building. And then, when he got a better look, his lazy grin turned to astonishment; he had never seen anything like it, the stained glass windows, the balconies that peeked out from every dorm, the marble that covered the whole school in a thin layer of glowing white rock… now this, this was magic. It must have been one of the most beautiful structures Sam had ever seen in his entire lifetime. And it must have cost a fortune to build. Shaking his head, he forced himself to stop staring at the magnificent construction, and actually enter. For a moment, he stood in front of the large cherry-wood doors. This year, it would be different. He promised himself, then gripped the handle, and pushed.

Inside was like staring directly into a block of dominoes. Everything was either black or white. And it was all polished to look extremely shiny and glossy. The walls, floor and ceiling were all as dark as night, while the lockers, and pretty much all the furniture that had been placed in the school was purely colorless, just a simple shade of white. To Sam’s amazement, he managed to keep his mouth shut, and not shout out how lucky he was to be here, though the look on his face might have given it away, which was probably why people were stopping to stare. But like the type of guy he was, the Australian boy ignored all the annoyed glances, and went straight to the office, wondering what the principle would be like, and how many times Sam would be seeing him. When he arrived, Sam opened the entrance at once, but this time with no hesitation whatsoever. A petite young lady sat at the desk, with her chin high. At first, he was slightly surprised to see her. She only looked around twenty-five years old; she couldn’t possibly already have a job here. Then he realized she could. He put on a gleaming smile, and walked towards her. But now that he saw her better, he could see all the details. And he was now frowning; she wasn’t exactly a pretty one. Her hair was long and straight, and looked as if the ends were splitting. Her eyes and hair were the exact same color; a light brown. She had a pair of half-moon glasses that were perched on her nose, and she was grimacing as she looked down at a pile of untidy papers. “Excuse me,” As he spoke, he saw her look up impatiently. “Yes?” The girl snapped angrily. Samuel took a panicky step back, “I-I’m here to get my schedule..” He stuttered, easily frightened.
“Name?”
“Samuel Cook”
“And why are you here Samuel?”
“To learn?”

She glanced up at him, her face looking slightly amused. “Well, that’s good.” She answered, and handed him his schedule. He looked down at it, and knew instantly that this was a very orderly school. The paper was folded neatly in two, and when he opened it, instead of there being a rather lazy, and messy scrawl, there was a tidy form of printing, that he could read perfectly. He thanked her quietly, and left the room. He sat down on a large block of white marble, which he assumed was supposed to be a bench, or a chair of some sort, and once again took out his schedule. The first thing on his list was painting. Painting what exactly? Well, perhaps they would teach him how to use different textures, and how to make different shades of paint that were impossible to make with the ordinary stuff. A note from l’école des arts, told him that if he were to paint, he should be provided with twelve colors of professional oil paint. When he had heard this, he was surprised to find that they thought ‘ professional ‘ was something he should be using, and not beginner. Of course that he was comfortable with painting, and he knew how to, but Sam was afraid that he’d stand out if he was only familiar with the basic steps, while others would be making history. . He sighed, and leaned back against the wall. And for music, which was two classes after painting, he would have to bring his guitar, and the large four hundred-page book with three hundred and fifty songs. It seemed like a lot of work, but he also knew that he would be learning about different instruments as well, and that was always exciting. And for his last class, he would be attending his writing class, which he assumed would be quite amusing. Especially since writing was one of his stronger talents. And in between those three classes, were English, sketching/drawing, and history. English and history were apparently mandatory, which meant he couldn’t ignore them.

Sam glanced quickly up at the clock, and a faint smile brushed his lips. He had a lot of time, still another half-hour until he would arrive at painting. He patted the large sac beside him, and decided it was time to get up, put in his locker. At the very bottom of the page, was his number. He looked beside him, and laughed unexpectedly. Well, there it was. Right next to him. Now what were the chances of that? With a grin, he opened it up, and placed all his supplies in the oversized locker. When he closed it, he placed the locker on the handle, and put in his combination. He smiled, satisfied. There that would do. The boy stretched, and took back his place on the bench. He then he suddenly looked at the empty place beside him, and felt as if someone needed to be there, and sit beside him. He hung his head. Samuel missed his friends, and his family. They were all back in New York… while he was here in Paris. At a famous art school. Now that he considered it, was this place really as great as he thought, or was it just as great as he wanted it to be?

Regina stepped out of the taxi, giving the driver a handful of crinkled Euros before going to the trunk to pull out two suit cases. She then turned towards the building looming in front of her, smiling at the architecture that gave her a bit of nostalgia for Russia. The construction was so very similar that, if she’d been lost, she might’ve started speaking in her home language for directions. Still, Regina knew she couldn’t sit around all day gaping at the place, and so she walked through the large doors trying to dilute her smile as much as she could.

The interior was just as fantastic, and the colours reminded her of a piano--ebony and ivory everywhere the eyes looked. For a moment, Regina wondered how expensive this must’ve been, and if it was an original Gothic structure. However, she soon realized that was quite pointless, and continued onwards to the office. The secretary seemed to be quite typical to Regina--a little too high-strung, a little too displeased with her position; it nearly radiated off of the woman. She was young, but not very pretty, with stick-straight, heat-damaged hair and glasses that partly concealed her eyes that were the same colour as her hair -- an almost muddy brown, or dirty blonde. The glasses on her face seemed to make her nose look hawk-shaped, and weren’t very flattering at all. Still, Regina walked forwards, giving her a small smile. The woman looked disgusted.

Yes?” The secretary sneered.

“I’m Regina Eltsov; I’m here to get my schedule,” Regina said calmly, not wanting to waste anytime with this disrespectful woman. She looked through the files quickly, then handed Regina her schedule. Regina left the office quickly, finding a bench to sit on before looking at the page. It was printed on fancy, thick stationary paper with exquisite décor around the edges. Every word had been printed clearly and boldly, yet Regina read through them quickly, paying little attention to the embellishments.

Her first class was English, which she was fair at, considering the fact she had learned it as a second language. Next was photography. Strangely enough, that worried Regina. She was used to taking pictures of action, with her favourite being Formula One races, and other random things like a homeless man on the street or a mother of three in the grocery store. Regina liked to capture real life, not some prettied-up little model trying to look cute. Something told her, though, she’d have to get used to it. Following it was her chorus class, which Regina looked forwards too much more. She was open to singing anything, and the idea that she could learn how to be better was exciting. Learning new songs was a plus, too. History followed it, with a drawing class Regina had chosen spur of the moment, ending with writing that she had randomly chosen as well.

Regina couldn’t deny that she was excited, though the fact that she would be trying so many things worried her. What if she failed something as simple as photography? What if no one befriended her over some quirk like the fact she preferred Chevys over Mercedes? She pushed those thoughts from her mind, though, and focused on the positive side of things--Regina would finally be able to be all that she could be.

August Winter Smith blinked his wide green eyes in surprise. The school was much - much - bigger than he had expected. After paying the driver August walked briskly towards the front doors, dragging his luggage in tow. He noticed a few other students scanning a paper but he didn't take the time to figure it out. August's eyes tried to take in the attractive furnishing even though he knew he would never get used to the fashion-savvy school no matter how hard he tried. August glanced towards the office, still uncomfortable with the new, large, school. He waited patiently for the lady at the desk to finish a call once he had found her desk. He was much to kind for his own good but August couldn't bring himself to interrupt.

"Can I help you?" She finally spoke, it was clear to August that she wasn't looking forward to the arrival of new students. August was barely looking forward to it himself. When August didn't answer 'quick enough' she added in a harsh tone, "Name?"

"August Smith." He replied with a flicker of a smile. She didn't even smile back. Something August was fairly unaccompanied to. She handed him his schedule and turned back to her work without another word. August was about to ask a question; it was apparent that she wasn't listening anymore so he turned away and opened his schedule. He was vaguely aware of the other subjects, he was only interested in when Art or Music was. He was slightly down-hearted when both of the classes were far from first. August ran a hand through his brown and blonde hair, absentmindedly. Anyone who knew August well would notice that running his hand through his hair was a sure sign of anxiety.
This is going to be a long school year isn't it? August asked himself silently. I'm sure to be only a novice at all of these classes. I bet everyone here is some sort of prodigy... August leaned against the dark wall and forced himself to look at the rest of his classes, along with the times. But then the size of the school dawned on August. Oh no, now I have to worry about getting lost! August bit his bottom lip without realizing it, and glanced at the hall. Maybe they would have signs? It was a false hope but August only thought of one thing to comfort himself at the moment. A piano was sure to be somewhere in the school...

August didn't mean to or enjoy it but his thoughts turned towards his brother. It had been hard for August to leave his brother in such a broken state, yet his brother had forced August to go, almost against his will.
"But you could die out here!" August had tried to argue even arguements were out of the question for himself. August had been even more hurt when his brother put August's packed up bags into the car and drove him to the airport, all without a word. Not even a good-bye. August was crushed. He didnt' know how his brother was doing; his sister was missing from his life; and here he was at a brand new school where a rift-rat like himself didn't belong.
August shook his head to himself and looked back once more towards the schedule. Then I'll prove myself I can do this, I can survive without having to worry about my brother. Maybe.

Clothes:
Dark washed slightly-skinny-jeans, worn Adidas, a tee shirt of one of his favorite bands, and a light gray zip up jacket.

Ugh, so short because I have to go...
