You know you have to take pictures along the way for good before and afters <3 By 3 months you should notice a mega difference in coat.

I changed our cats over to Blue Buffalo recently and in just this short amount of time Ive seen a great difference. My older cat, 13, looks much better: her coat and her eyes! The change is subtile, but its there. She absolutely loves food too, and is on the heavy side, so I'm hoping with this diet and a reduction of food daily she'll loose a pound or two over time. We only had one upset tummy once, probably because it tastes so good and they ate a bit too quickly.

Its great seeing what a change in diet can do. :)

I have a question for the raw feeders here.
I've been seriously thinking about getting a ferret or two within the next year, and have been wondering what to feed them.
Can you feed a ferret on a raw diet?

Yes! Ferrets can be hard to convert, but they do much better on raw than kibble.

How much would I feed them?
Are the calculations the same as feeding a dog a raw diet?
And would prey model work best?
I have been seriously considering this, but I'm not even sure where to start. How should I convert the ferret over to raw? What kind of side effects will I have to deal with at first?

Ferrets actually have some VERY serious health problems if not fed the correct diet (kibble mainly). They really really suffer from not having a raw/really high meat content food. Insomia (I really fail at the spelling EVERY TIME but its basically cancer in the pancreas) is sssooo common in kibble fed ferts. Diabetes also runs ramped and dental diseases. </3 Our dogs and cats can tolerate a kibble/canned diet, but these guys fare nearly as well.

I'm not sure the amount daily, but I wouldn't think its be over 4 oz a day.

The calculations are the same, but awesomely a ferrets main diet is just fine being rodents like mice and rats. Small rabbits can be given along with quail and chicks. Ground mixes are varous kinds can be bought such places as reelrawdog.com, mypetcarnivore.com, and saddogsushi.com. Stella & Chewys makes good ground mixes and so does Prime and Natures Variety Instinct.

For help switching over and to answer more questions I'd try http://holisticferret60.proboards.com/i ... board=food :D

Cardinal, how to convince Titan's owner that freefeeding him IAMS is a bad idea? Spoilers, he's 120lbs and should probably be closer to 90, he looks like a barrel with legs from above but has a decent tuck-up from the side, and she doesn't think he's fat.

Ooh, that's a good idea. I have a couple pictures(a dozen pictures, actually.. ha) of her in the summer before I moved(on ProPlan), and I can get a 'week after' picture when we go on a walk tomorrow~
I think the frequent, longer walks are having a good effect on her, too.

Is there someone on here that knows a good cat food? I really want to get my cat on a better diet.
