Story:
Bluemoon Spirits was a name above all names. She was the esteemed match of two purebred winners and would win herself. She had poise and concentration from a young age, something that made her parents and owners proud. She grew to yearn for this pride and would achieve it at any given cost.
One morning after training, she was turned out with the other yearlings her age but she never truly knew them; she was so focused on succeeding and pleasing the ones she cared for, she never made any friends. They stared at the timid young filly unsure of what to make of her before they eventually left her alone to her usual pasture training routine. Oddly though, this twisted her heart at the thought of rejection. She tried to socialize herself with them only to end up annoying them. The eldest colt eventually chased her away roughly, scaring Sue into submission and isolation.
She watched the herd from a distance for a while and noticed the yearlings playing games and mock fighting. She wondered if joining in would help her fit in better so one day, she went to start up some fun. She headed toward a filly smaller than her and began to start up a playfight. The young filly stood staring at Sue in fear and looked around for help. That same colt came to the filly's aid to see the culprit was Sue. With a smirk, he started the fight with her but he wasn't joking around.
Sue knew she was outmatched instantly and tried to take off again but it was no use. The colt cornered her and didn't let up once. He ended the match with a blow to her poll with his hooves, knocking her into blackness immediately. The fight ended as soon as it began for once Sue hit the ground, the herd left her lying in the pasture.
The humans came home to find her still lying in the field battered and confused looking. They moved her to an empty pen and the vet looked her over. Sue was terrified because she couldn't see anything as the vet prodded and poked at her. She heard him announce her permanent blindness and the disappointment in her owner's voice.
"A waste of good money," she heard him say as he left her alone in the pen. She felt absolutely horrible and a failure. She called out for her parents, random horses, anyone who could possibly comfort her but heard nothing in return. In a state of despair, she found the fence and attempted to jump it, uncaring if she cleared it. She soared over it from all those months of training and poise and ran through the darkness until her legs grew fatigued and lead her away from the place she once called home.
