Trade Rant Thread [v.20]

Wasn't planning to rant on this, but it has been eating at me.
The other day I wanted to try swapping an OMG so common with another one from the same month in this this trade.

I totally understand if there was a bit more demand in their dog, or they liked theirs more than mine, but the reason they gave me struck me as silly. They already had that dog. I had read their rules, checked their groups and there was no hint anywhere that they were only wanting wishlist pets. ...and what did they really expect to get offered for an OMG so common anyways? If they were going for one of every outcome, they probably had had anything worth that dog already. (Not to mention that I of course checked their wishlist and it was all rares very rares, older common and uncommons, ect)

In their defense maybe somebody would tack that dog onto a bigger trade, but I find it a little hard to believe it would make that much of a difference

Just a general trade rant. No specifically bad trades to seethe over today (yet) but I'm in the "seething" mood.
So here. Have some trade rants.
Hot from the oven.

Sometimes I don't understand why rats are so undervalued in comparison to other pets.
Is it because they aren't a popular species in real life?
That's really the only reason I can think of them not being as sought after.

I mean, it can't be for lack of unique line edits. I'll admit, I'm a very "cosmetic" player. I care about the eye-candy level of a pet, not the rarity level. I collect pets with extensively unique line edits, but I still have a weak spot for rats as a whole. Even their coloration is adorable if they're lacking any outstanding line edits.

I don't get it. Why are rats shunned by most players? Does not compute.
Sugar Snap does not understand.

I honestly have a tough time trading because my personal values are out-of-sync with the rest of the CS community.
I understand base rarity trading... partly because I spend so much time lurking this thread. Education for the win.
I've had a few nice trades, but for the most part, value to me is
"Oh, that's pretty. WORTH IS IMMEDIATELY OVER 9000!"
I completely disregard species worth. Lol.

I happen to like rats very much.
They're second only to dogs.
I'm getting tired of my sent trades being cancelled because I've added a rat or two. Especially since said rats are on that persons wishlist.
It's just adding salt to the wound when I get cancel messages along the lines of
"Lol. No. I hate rats. Cancelled."

Stahp it, players. You don't like rats? Please put it in your trade rules. I DO make an effort to read them completely before I send a trade. I'm not a mind reader. Also, I'm a strict "wishlist" trader: I only offer pets that are on your wishlist. Why would I give you something you don't want? You don't want rats even though there are some on your wishlist? Again, I'm oblivious to this fact unless you specify in your trade rules.

Now, I can understand cancelling because you thought the trade was unfair, or you haven't updated your wishlist and you don't want doubles, etc. Okay, cool. I do that as well.
But to basically laugh at and insult my offer because it included a rat?
You madam and/or sir, have just been added to my foes list. Good day!

/ridiculously wordy rant

I know how you feel, I have had trades canceled, even though fair, because I added rats to the equation, i do not know WHY rats are less in demand, or less in value then other pets.

Sorry, but to me a 2009 VR rat is worth just as much as a 2009 VR dog, cat, horse, BW etc... (if its on the Rare list, same thing applies)

Some players HAVE rules to not include rats, those that do not, or its on their WL, then I include it.

The only thing is, when someone HAS a VR or Listed rare Rat, they want over pay for it -.-

Yes, the RAT is so under valued, and yet, its not when you want someone to pay 10 RARE 2010 dogs for a rare 2010 rat, wheres the login in that?

I gave up trying to finish my collection because it seems impossible to finish and to get my pets that i need.

Rats were my top priority with 8 more to go, and lions with only 2 left to go.

I see nothing wrong with rats..... It could be that people are just grossed out by them in RL as well?

Also, I did not realie that pinkish pink eyed was a nekkid xD, I have a patchwork hairless rat (and other rats) irl XDXDXD

I agree, Potassium.
I understand the premise of a code word- to make sure people have read your rules.
But you can just as easily tell without one.
Like... um... someone sending you a one-sided trade when you've made it perfectly clear that you don't want them.
