P.S. I'm 100% certian that she is a girl. Last time I checked, I am too.
Don't worry, it's the same way with me. :3 My daemon, Vee, is a girl as well, and I'm straight. I'm a tomboyish; you wouldn't see me prancing around in dresses and doing my nails just to impress some guy.
It doesn't lead to anything bad; your daemon's gender all depends on you. Besides, Vee has never lead me into anything terrible. I'm sure your daemon wouldn't either. C:

P.S. How do I talk my deamon out a sky diving? She's VERY convincing.
Well, your daemon is probably persuading you to try new things. I know I would refuse either way; I have an extreme fear of heights. O___O

I have never really had a main charrie, nor daemon, not even truely connected with any female characters... (Except for 2, really). I'm a girl, a big tomboy, and straight. So hunestly, I just goes with what feels right for my daemon. And that's a guy. XD
And Masscre sounds rather hard to deal with, like a multiple-personality thing. I honestly have a character that is like that, but he doesn't control me, and we're so alike, it's scary. XD We'd always help each other.

it has nothing to do with it. c:
for instance, im a lesbian, but I have a male dæmon. i have no male friends other than him, though.
I much rather him being male, though.
does anyone know how this stereotype started?

I reckon a lot of it IS from TCG. There used to be a page on TDP talking about the origins of the daemon in the Golden Compass/Northern Lights and how it would be normally male for girls or female for guys. I don't recall specifics, as it's been too long since I've read either the page (which I guess was taken down in the big analysis purge) or the book, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was just the general trend; after all, if virtually all the daemons in the book are opposite-gender and you go to imagine your own daemon in your head, your first instinct is probably going to be it being the opposite gender.
Buuuuuut (and also becaaaauuuuuuse) in reality there's really nothing to it! It's whatever you come up with, whatever works for you, which for a lot of people (but not everybody!) is as simple as expecting an opposite-gender daemon and expecting it into being. We have a member on TDF with two mental constructs filling the daemon role (though she tends to only talk about one in the daemon context on the forum) (not recommended generally since it's hard enough to keep track of talking to and projecting one daemon), one male and one female. Another's daemon used to be male and is now female, and he's gay. Another creates new daemons from scratch every so often, so he's had both male and female daemons. I personally call my daemon by male pronouns even though he's also a bit fluid and his voice is higher-pitched than mine.
And I'm mostly homo, for what it's worth. Looks like we have a lot of girls who like girls and use masculine pronouns for their daemons here. :3 Girls who like boys and use female pronouns for their daemons are just as normal.

It is originally from HDM and HDM fan communities...there was a cook in the first book who had a male daemon and it was referred to as being rare, but he was a minor character and details were never specified other than that (from memory) he was a bit effeminate. There might've been some musing on the subject in Pullman interviews and I'm pretty sure most philosophising on the subject came from fan forums like BridgeToTheStars (I remember brushing over threads on it way way way back in my internet past >>).
But yeah, no actual application in the real world daemons-as-mental-constructs system we have going.
