Finding the Sun (Canine RP)

Ayet licked Torka's ear affectionately, and whispered to him, "No, no. You didn't do anything wrong. She just had a bad dream is all. Most of the wolves around here are getting jumpy; it's probably just the darkness. They'll be better tomorrow." He assured the cub, though secretly he doubted that it would get better any time soon. In fact, he imagined it would get a whole lot worse. Death would not be this easy to beat.

Torka nodded understandably but when Ayet stopped talking, he noticed that fear was literally dripping off of his own tongue. He decided another question wouldn't hurt anybody, and maybe it'd take his mind off of his recent knock-down. "Ayet, sir," he asked quietly with his eyes glued to the floor. "Where is the sun? I asked around, sir, and nobody would tell me, said I was too young. When I asked darkness, it made me cold." Then he looked up at Ayet with a little frown on his face. "So, sir, where has the sun gone?"

Riptide stared at the empty space where the sunset would usually be. Then, a wave of pain flashed into his neck. Glaring up, he saw a wolf holding Riptide's neck in his jaws. As soon as Riptide saw him, the wolf dropped his neck, grinned evilly, then dashed into the dark forest. Riptide struggled to get up. "Help!" He screamed. "Somebody?" But his calls weren't answered, and Riptide dropped to the ground, his fur getting colder and colder in the nightlike air.

Suddenly, Ayet was the most boring source in the world. He loved his alpha to bits, considering that the male had looked after him since 5 weeks of age, but the screaming from the forest made a much more exciting target than finally getting his answer about the sun. He burst forward in a puppy-sprint, tongue lolling out of his mouth, and almost tripped over Riptide when he found him. He walked a full circle round him then tilted his head. "Whats wrong? You look kinda hurt." He observed, a grin playing on his lips at the slight humour of someone else getting hurt. "No offence, sir!" He added quickly.

Riptide looked up, shock showing in his eyes. "S-s-ome wolf b-bit my n-neck," he panted. " Dashed off into the forest, too. You'd think he'd tell me why he was trying to kill me." He sat up, looking around warily for any sign of the wolf. "I hope someday I'll get him back." Riptide muttered under his breath, not able to scent the strange wolf.

Torka shifted uneasily. "Well," He stuttered. "We'd better get back to Ayet, I mean if that wolf comes back im not much help, am I? Im not even a year old yet." Then his scowl changed into a massive ear-to-ear grin. "But in two days, I will be! Then i'll get my rank." He said proudly, though he almost wet himself when he heard a stick crack in the wood - not realising that it was probably just a fox.

Riptide grinned. "Can't wait to see the look on that wolf's face once you find him. C'mon. Everyone's prob'ly looking for us." He sniffed warily as a precaution, then padded off, his fur prickling slightly.

Ayet opened his mouth to answer the pup, but it went dashing off as soon as a wolf cried out in the forest. He flicked his ears irritably; would the newcomers never cease? But, he supposed, it was good to have more wolves around. More wolves meant more sets of teeth, and that meant more trouble for demons. Trotting off after Torka, he met them about half-way from the clearing. "Torka, who is this?" He asked, nodding to the new wolf and narrowing his eyes cautiously. He decided to answer Torka's question when they were more alone; he was rather curious as to what the pup meant when it said, When I asked darkness, it made me cold.

Riptide turned around to face the grown wolf. "I am Anaklusmos, Riptide for short," he said. "Who are you?" He looked around warily. "do your wolves attack newcomers?" He asked warily, turning his head so the gash in his neck didn't show. "Because I met a wolf today, and, seriously, he didn't seem to happy about seeing me." He shrugged. "Dunno. Maybe that was a special area or something. It beats me." He shifted his paws uneasily, hoping that the bigger wolf hadn't seen the gash in his neck and taken it as some sort of weakness. He tried to recall what the wolf that bit him had looked like. I don't think it was this wolf. Nah.

Being a puppy, Torka couldn't help but break into a fit of giggles. "I have no idea who this wolf is." He snorted with uncontrolled giggles as she leaned down and became smaller than he really was; respecting Ayets alpha status. "Sorry I ran off on you, sir." He apologised meekly, flicking his ears back. He then looked at Riptide and grimaced. "Are you going to tell him about the nasty wolf? Because Sir Ayet is the alpha round here." Then, he added in a much lighter, quieter tone: "Don't worry; he's a real softie. Like a bunny."
