Thanks. Here is my story for the contest:
Believe
The harsh, cold wind blew into Sayan's face. His thick mane bristled wildly. Snow began to slowly drift down from the skies, as delecate as a feather. The plains seems more isolated than ever. Winter was just beginning, and tempurtatures were already extremely cold.
As a cub, Sayan was tortured for being the runt of the litter. He never got food, and always got left out. His mother never even treated him well. 'Till this day, Sayan is still treated as if he is a helpless, little cub.
Snow crunched under Sayan's huge paws as he walked on. Suddenly, he crouched, scented a rabbit. He lurked forward, and sprang. With his paws landing on something soft and fluffly, he opened his mouth, lurching it forward. His teeth sank into flesh, nice, juicy meet. He grinned, and tossed the little rabbit into the air, it landing in his jaws.
Licking his chops clean, and trotted on. The wind got severely strong, and you couldnt see anything. Looking around frantically for shelter, he spotted a big, hollowed-out tree. He cantered toward it, and huddled inside. Closing his eyes, he drifted into a heavy sleep, his plump body resting with now worries.
Beginning of the next day
Sayan woke up, and yawned. His eyes were crusted, and he paws at them. Finally, they completely opened. A warm breeze swirled inside where he was, the scent of flowers on it. He got up, and padded to the entrance. There, infront of him, was a small violet. Everywhere else around it was snow. He looked up to the sea-blue sky, and smiled. Time to find a mate and start my own pride... If I ever find a mate... He thought to himself.
Stretching once more, Sayan set off. He headed toward the hills. Out of the blue, the ground began to rumble. Sayan looked up, and grinned. He loped forward, and then burst into speed. Leaping into the air, he landed on the back of a gazelle. Sinking his teeth into its neck, the gazelle slowed, then finally fell to the ground.
Sayan crunched into the meat. This was his first big meal in a long time. Then, while busy eating, he heard paw-steps. He looked up, and saw a female lion walking toward him. His stomach instantly filled with butterflies.
"Mind if I join you?" Asked the female, looking slightly desperate. Sayan couldn't say no, he just couldn't! Plus, this was his only chance at love! He nodded.
"Sure." The female smiled gratefully, and walked over to the gazelle. Sayan followed. In a matter of time, they were finished.
"Thank you for the meal," The female said, "And by the way, I'm Naomi." She grinned slightly. Sayan nodded.
"I'm Sayan." As he finally got to know the female, he got bowled over by another lion.
"Stay away from her!" The male yelled. Sayan was still dazed, but kicked him off, getting up in ready position. The female looked from both of them.
"Bone, leave Sayan alone!" She shouted, but Bone ignored her. He charged Sayan, and Sayan hopped into the air. He came crashing down on Bone. Slashing at his neck, Bone yowled in pain. He whipped around, and raked across Sayan's face.
Blood puddled under-neath him. He growled in both pain and anger, and charged Bone. Bone didn't move, for he thought Sayan couldn't do anything.
"Runt, I could-" Bone got cut off as Sayan crashed into him. Clamping on his neck, Bone went limp. Sayan looked up at Naomi with his good eye to see her rushing toward him.
"Are you ok? Here, let me fix you up!"
Soon after
Sayan lay on a sunning-rock next to Naomi. He looked to her. "Naomi?"
"Yes?"
"Will you be my, mate?"
Naomi grinned, and then licked him. "Yes." She said calmy, although she felt as if she was going to burst in happiness.

Soon after, Naomi became pregnant with Sayan's cubs, and they were very happy together. They had survived the winter, which was a very big challenge. Together, they started a pride, Zahara Pride. The pride was very big, and soon would become over-populated. Yes, Sayan was a runt, but he never gave up on his goal. He tried hard, and finally achieved it. Now, he lives with his beloeved mate and a strong pride happily.
