Owner Name:~Garnet~Name:TobyGender: MalePersonality:.:.Cheerful.:.
Always happy and optimistic, this little one is constantly smiling about something. Toby loves joking around and playing games, and is somehow able to find humor in almost anything!
.:.Naughty.:.
Toby here is also a bit of a prankster, always getting into trouble and laughing it off like it's no big deal. The other day, he filled a bucket with syrup and put it on top of one of our doors. My mother... Well, let's just say she was not happy about that particular prank.
.:.Talented.:.
As a matter of fact, Toby is actually a very good cook - Not only when it comes to breakfast, but when it comes to sweets of almost any kind! As long as you're not lactose intolerant, if you like fruits and cheesecake, you should try his apple cheesecake one some time, it's incredibly good.
.:.Lazy.:.
Of course, this only happens when he's not sleeping or just sitting around doing nothing. I once found him laying in with the popcorn chicken and shrimp on the holding rack at the local Walmart, taking a nap. The only athletic thing he does... Well, you'll see it below.
.:.Sweet.:.
Despite being a bit of a trickster, Toby's actually a very loving and affectionate Rune. Unfortunately, this makes for some sticky (Pun intended) situations when he tries to cuddle up with you.
.:.Odd.:.
He's certainly not the most normal Rune around. As a matter of fact, he once filled my bathtub with syrup and started swimming laps in it! It took me nearly a week to clean the thing up without ruining our already bad plumbing...
.:.Friendly.:.
He absolutely loves being around others, and considers everyone to be a friend, even if they clearly don't care for him. It can be a little irritating at times, but that's just who he is. He tends to cook for his friends in his free time, too, which basically leads to a 'Free food for everyone!' sort of deal.
.:.Timid.:.
You wouldn't think it, but Toby actually scares rather easily. He absolutely loathes the dark, and has to sleep with a nightlight next to him. He hid in the other room while my friends and I were watching videos of people playing Slender recently, and is even afraid of my pet chickens! Why do you wish to have him/her:I saw him in your gallery, and he was just too cute not to try for! I haven't won a Rune yet, so I just had to give this little one a shot~!Where will you keep him/her:If I were to win him, he'd be placed in my new characters thread, and (With any luck) have drawings throughout my gallery!Would you like to breed him/her in the future:Sure! Though I may be rather picky about who he'd be with ^^'Any Quirks:You mean besides swimming in bathtubs full of syrup? Well, for starters, when he's not eating, he's constantly chewing gum. I don't know where he's getting it. He won't tell me. He also likes dressing up in silly costumes - Often using my own clothes. It's a good thing the laundry soap my mother makes is cheaper than the stuff from the store, because we've been going through a ton of it lately.Other:A story I wrote on a whim. It explains his name, by the way~

Owner Name:lemondropkittenName:Rascal.
It just seemed like the perfect name for this little... well, rascal. He's a playful, silly, friendly, energetic, flapjack loving, adorable Rune, and the name Rascal just seemed to fit. Other then that, I really don't know why I chose the name. Well... maybe because one of the first beanie baby I ever got was a little white dog who's name was 'Rascal.' I still have Rascal the beanie baby, and, like Candy reminding me of Candy the cat, Rascal would remind me of Rascal the beanie baby. I also rather like the name, and like to name my Runes simple, often short names. Rascal is a cute name, and I would really love to have a Rune named Rascal. I have always wanted to name a character Rascal, but have never found the right one. When I saw this Rune, the first name that popped to my was Rascal, and I have the habit of naming my Runes the first thing that pop into my head, as it usually fits them quite well (at least I think so.) I hope you like the name for this little Rune as much as I do.Gender:MaleWould you like to breed him/her in the future:If I ever decide to grow him up, yes, I would like to breed him. I bet his little babies would be super cute! Why do you wish to have him/her:For one, the little guy is just darling. I think he may be one of the cutest Runes I've ever seen! His little feet with those little claws, his quirky smile, those little feathery wings, just, like, everything about him is darling and adorable, and I just love him to bits. If he was real, I would be probably cuddling him constantly (in fact, I may have to make a stuffed animal of him if I can find the right color fabric if I win him.) His design is adorable, and his expression is so cute! He makes me want to make flapjacks, since I love them.
Another reason I want him is I absolutely flapjacks, though I normally call them pancakes. I don't eat them that often, but we eat them sometimes on the weekends, and when we do, I really enjoy them (my RL dog enjoys them, too. Don't tell anyone I sometimes sneak her a few bites XD)
Everything about this little Rune is amazing, that little feathered tail of his, I know he and Candy would get along. They are both energetic, sugar loving Runes, with a taste for fun. And I'm sure Rascal would get Candy into flapjacks. Thank you for the chance at getting this adorable little Rune, I will work hard on my form so I will hopefully be considered as this Rune's new owner.Where will you keep him/her:Of course, Rascal would have a forever home in my Rune Dragon thread, and I would love and cuddle him forever. He would be provided as many flapjacks as he wants, and I would draw him traditionally, digitally, and I would sketch him in my sketchbook all the time, and though this may sound silly, I sometimes imagine my characters and Runes in real life, so even if I wasn't giving him a lot of attention on here, he would be given lots of attention in real life. There isn't anything wrong with a little imagination, after all XD
Size:Rascal is small, about baby squirrel sized currentlyWeight:Rascal weighs about 1 pound right nowAge:Rascal is just a little baby Rune. I would say... hmmm... 7 months? possibly 8 monthsPersonality:Silly.
Rascal is a very silly little Rune, often doing little silly dances to make Lemon laugh. He is always being silly, not matter what time of day. He sometimes acts silly by flies around the house as fast as he can, crash landing onto the couch, and then doing it over and over again. He also acts silly by pouncing on the tails of Trinket and Cattail.
Friendly.
Rascal is friendly... well, except if you try to make friends with him while he's eating! When he's not eating, he is friendly and sweet, and if you have flapjacks with you, he acts absolutely darling... until, of course, he gets his hands on the flapjacks! He will then politely wave his wing at you as he dashes away with you're flapjacks.
Energetic.
Though he is quite a chubby little Rune, Rascal is defiantly a little energetic blur of adorableness. Though he can't fly well, he can fly okay if he flies close to the ground. He will fly close to the ground at top speed around and around and around Lemon's cottage until he finally tires out (which take about five hours with luck.) He is defiantly an energetic Rune!
Protective of flapjacks.
Little Rascal is truly protective of his flapjacks. If you try to pick him up or disturb him while he's eating, the little thing will growl at you! He seems to have an endless apatite, and will eat and eat until he finally ends up falling asleep on the empty plate, even though he is mostly energetic, he also likes to sleep curled up on the couch and loves to be held in you're arms while he sleeps.
A little rascal.
Rascal is a little rascal, hence his name. If you ask who knocked over the vase, you will most likely see little Rascal grinning up at you with his eyes and a sheepish grin. He's not mean or anything, but he does like to taunt poor Cattail by stealing his cat toys and hiding them, then giving them back and playing with them. Half of the time he doesn't let Cattail near the toys until he himself finishes playing with them.
Can't fly that well.
Rascal can't fly well with his little wings, and is often frustrated when he easily tires of flying and has to perch on Lemon's shoulder during walks. He can fly a little higher then Lemon for short distances, but can fly fast and low for hours, which makes him an unusual little Rune. Lemon can't understand this, but it makes her laugh to see the little Rune fly around her cottage super fast.Likes:Flapjacks.
Rascal love, love, loves flapjacks! He absolutely goes crazy over them, and if you try to disturb him when he's eating them, he will growl or try to nip at you're hand.
Grains.
Rascal loves grains, and grains are his main source of nourishment, his favorite being the sweet and tasty flapjacks. He can often be seeing flitting around farmer's grain fields, nibbling on the grain.
Maple Syrup.
Rascal love syrup, and if you pour some into a little dish, he will just lap it right up! (Growling at you if you try to disturb him, of course. He even growls at Candy.) He simply adores syrup
Sunny days.
Rascal is actually relaxed on sunny days. You can often find him outside in the garden, sprawled out in the grass just soaking up the sun. He loves to sleep in the sun.
Leaf piles.
Rascal loves to pounce in leaf piles, often disturbing Leaf Peeper Runes that may be hiding around the pile. He tries to make friends with the Runes, but they just shoo him away from their piles. Still, he loves to jump or dive into leaf piles, and most likely always will.
Sugar.
Though he's not as crazy about sugar as Candy, he still really loves it. When he gets into sugar, he's basically bouncing off the walls, so Lemon tries not to give him too much sugar when he demands some! Dislikes:Gumdrops.
Unlike Candy and Sparrow, who simply adore them, Rascal does not like gumdrops at all, and does not like how they taste and does not like they're chewiness.
Rain.
Rascal hates rain. It makes it impossible to fly for him, and his feathers and fur gets soaking wet and he starts shivering, even if it's warm outside. The poor little guy was soaking wet when Lemon found him, and he obviously been caught in the rainstorm that night.
Not being able to fly well.
Rascal wishes he could fly better, and be able to fly as high and fast as Candy, not tiring after only a short distance or having to fly low. He can often be seen staring up at the sky above, wishing he could fly high enough to touch a cloud.
Not having any flapjacks or syrup.
Rascal goes into panicked chirping if he does not have flapjacks, or at least maple syrup, once a day or every other day. He can also get super cranky.
Loud noises.
Rascal gets startled by loud noises, and so if you happen to drop a pot or pan on the floor and it clinks loudly, or there is a thunder storm, he jumps up and starts chirping wildly.
Spiders.
Rascal hates spiders. If he sees one, he starts whimpering in terror like a puppy, until Lemon put a cup over the eight legged arachnid and puts it outside, but since she is also scared of spiders, she literally throws the cup outside.Any Quirks:Rascal has a fascination with chickens, and when Lemon acquired one shortly after she found Rascal, he spent every minute with that chicken. The chicken was a normal brown chicken, and Lemon built it a pen in her garden so it wouldn't get lost. While she made it, Rascal made sure the chicken wasn't too stressed about being moved into a pen, even though it was large, and is very gentle when he's around the chicken, who Lemon named 'Flapjack' since the flapjack loving Rune apparently loved the chicken. Rascal is almost always dashing outside to spend time with his friend. It is quite clear Rascal loves chickens, though Lemon does not particularly know why.
When Rascal sees another Rune, he starts chirping really loudly and excitedly, running over to the Rune, no matter how big or small. Poor Tangerine, the Velociraptor Rune who was scared of baby Runes was truly terrified when the little bundle of mischief came whirling towards her, chirping like mad. Poor Tangerine actually let Lemon pet her after been terrified by Rascal. Before then, Lemon had never petted her. Lemon just hopes Rascal knows better then to do this around a aggressive Rune.
Rascal absolutely hates spiders, as said earlier. The quirk about it, though, he never hurts them. When Lemon first saw Rascal freak out when he saw one, she expected him to grab the newspaper laying on the couch and smash the spider with it. Wincing, expecting Rascal to kill the spider, Lemon went to get a cup in hope of saving the spider, though she was scared of them herself. When she got back, Rascal had moved right next to the newspaper, but still had not hurt the spider. This happened several times, and Lemon realized that one of Rascal's oddest quirk is this one. He hates spiders, but has never harmed them.
Story:I woke up to hear Candy chirping quietly. I opened my eyes and looked around. It was still dark out, and I couldn't see a thing. "Candy?" I said, getting out of the bed. Suddenly, lightning flashed and lit up the whole bedroom. "Oh, a thunderstorm." I said. Candy was terrified of storms. I wandered blindly into the kitchen, and found Candy huddled up next to a confused looking Trinket. Candy flew over to me and landed on my shoulder. It was going to be a long, stormy night for sure.
---
It was morning. I had slept late, and when I finally woke up, I found the storm had stopped. Yawning, I got dressed, grabbed a quick breakfast (bread with butter) and headed out the door with Trinket, Cattail, and Candy. The moment we stepped outside, the wind blew against me making me shiver. The day before had been thanksgiving, and Trinket and Cattail were not crazy about all the strange people (my family and friends) coming to the house. But Candy soaked up the attention. Making bouquets to put on the table, and greeting each and every guest that walked through the door.
Trinket and Cattail hid out in my bedroom almost all day, unsure of all the guests, and so they were glad to get some exercise, even if it was still wet, cold, and muddy outside. The wind was at least thirty miles per hour, and still Candy easily glided through the air. I shivered, but luckily as we entered the woodlands, the wind was not as bad.
Though Candy started heading towards Gemstone's cave, I decided I wanted to go somewhere else. "Candy, let's not go to Gemstone's cave today. How about we go down that trail?" I said, pointing to a trail that was no doubt made by deer. Candy nodded and we started heading down the trail. "Hey! Look! That's where I first met Sparrow!" I said. A small clearing in the trees, and one smaller tree. I remembered when Sparrow flew down to my shoulder for a few seconds before flying away. Sparrow was the first Rune I met, and even when she was in a bad mood, I had fun being with her.
Candy flew towards the clearing excitedly, looked around it, and then flew back to me. I wonder if Sparrow ever goes back to the clearing. I thought to myself. Candy twirled through the air and chirped. We had now passed the clearing, and I thought I could hear a trickle of water. I had never been down the path this far before, so it was exciting. It smelled like pine trees... I mean, more pine trees then in other parts of the woodlands.
I gasped when I stumbled over a dip in the ground, and then looked up. It was so beautiful! The hundreds of pine trees had dewdrops hanging off their branches, glistening in the sun, and right in front of me was a stream. The chilly water making a gurgling sound, and ice rimmed the edges. The dip in the ground was actually what looked like an abandoned badger set, but just in case it wasn't abandoned, I stepped around it carefully.
Cattail and Trinket both lunged forward, trying to get into the water. Don't ask me why Cattail loves water, the little brown, cream, and white kitten just does. Trinket started rolling in the water, and when he got up, I sighed. His back was covered in mud. The stream was shallow, and I stepped into it myself. The water was very chilly, and I did not know how Cattail and Trinket were not freezing.
Candy took a drink from the stream before simply flying over it. I walked through the stream and when I got to the other side, I got a surprise. There was a Rune! It was shivering, and soaking wet, perched on one of the lower branches of the pine tree in front of me. The Rune tried to fly, flapping it's wings hard, but they were soaking wet, and they were quite small, and the poor little Rune landed in a mud puddle with a splash.
I scooped up the little Rune and tucked him into the hood of my jacket. He shivered all the way back to my cottage, over the stream, past the abandoned badger set, past the clearing, out of the woodlands, through my garden, and finally, I opened my cottage door and went inside. I took everyone into the bathroom, filled up the bathtub with warm water, and gave everyone a bath.
Once everyone was dry and warm, I decided to make more of a breakfast. I pondered what to make, and decided on flapjacks. When I started cooking the flapjacks, the little Rune started to bob up an down in excitement. He's probably hungry. I said, and decided to make extra flapjacks instead of just the usual amount.
Once the flapjacks were done, I gave everyone one. Candy got one, Trinket got one, but Cattail got a bowl of cat kibble, since he didn't like flapjacks very much. I also gave the Rune a flapjack, and was startled at how quickly the Rune ate. I fixed my own flapjacks onto my plate, put butter and syrup on them, but I had to leave the room for a minute because I had left the bathroom light on.
When I got into the kitchen, I saw the little Rune sitting on top of my flapjacks! Covered in butter and syrup, the Rune continued eating even with me watching. Licking his lips, The Rune finally finished off the last flapjack and yawned. "You little Rascal." I said picking up the Rune. Rascal. That was the perfect name for him. Sighing, I took the Rune to the bathroom to give him another bath. And after that, I would have to make more flapjacks!
---
A couple days later
---
I felt like there was someone jumping on and off of my blanket. And as it turns out, there was. Little Rascal was trying to wake me up by jumping up and down on my blanket. I rolled over, not wanting to get up. "Go to sleep, Rascal." I said. But Rascal just kept jumping, and I eventually couldn't even fall back asleep.
"What now, Rascal? Why did you wake me up?" I said. Rascal just chirped and jumped off the bed. I got up, rubbed my eyes, got dressed, woke up Candy, and opened the blinds. I gasped. In just one night, it had snowed! I saw a flash of green, and saw Sparrow jumping headfirst in snow piles. That was probably her oddest quirk. I laughed, but then was puzzled when I saw a flash of brown.
I went outside (not even bothering to throw on shoes. I didn't like to wear shoes, even in the snow) and was very surprised when I saw a little brown chicken! The chicken clucked at Sparrow, and then continued pecking at the snow. I cautiously approached the chicken, and then picked it up and took it inside.
"Now, where did you come from?" I said, looking at the chicken as it pecked at my kitchen floor. The chicken, of course, did not answer. Rascal was fussing over the chicken, smoothing it's feathers that were sticking up and making sure the chicken wasn't injured. Was it possible for a Rune to be in love with a chicken? I highly didn't think so, but the way Rascal was fussing over the chicken, you would think it was possible!
Me and Rascal headed to town, I had left Candy home to make sure the chicken didn't get into any trouble. The street was covered in snow, and Rascal perched on my shoulder as we went to buy some chicken feed.
Once we got the chicken feed, we went back home and gave the chicken food. Rascal continued to fuss over the chicken, until I made flapjacks! It had sure been an odd day, and it had started snowing again. I was glad I was inside where it was nice and warm.
---
Cattail's sister
---
Rascal hopped onto the windowsill and chirped. Icicles draped over the window, and Rascal shivered just looking at them. Cattail jumped up next to him, tail twitching, as he watched birds fly around outside. "Why are you so interested in the birds outside and not interested in Flapjack?" Rascal asked, referring to the chicken Lemon had acquired. Cattail didn't answer, even though he could communicate with Runes. In fact, Rascal had never heard Cattail say a word. "Why do you never talk?" Rascal asked. Cattail shot a sharp look at Rascal and jumped away.
Rascal watched, confused, as Cattail stalked away. Trinket came over and put his front paws on the windowsill. "Don't mind Cattail, I don't think I've ever heard him utter a word myself." Trinket said. Rascal nodded. "I wish it was summer..." Rascal sighed, watching as Lemon went outside to break the ice off of the bird baths. "I actually enjoy this weather, thanks to my fluffy coat, but I can understand why a Baby Rune like you doesn't like it." Trinket said as he trotted out the door after Lemon. Rascal sighed and checked on Flapjack, who was sleeping in her basket in the kitchen.
Rascal peeked out the window once more. Candy had gone out with Lemon, and Sparrow was perched in the crab apple tree watching as Lemon filled the bird feeders. Rascal decided to go look in Lemon's bedroom for something to do. He flew low to the ground, that way he could fly faster. Landing on Lemon's dresser, Rascal scurried into an open drawer where Lemon get her stories and poems she sometimes wrote. He found a piece of poetry that caught his eye.
He is a little rascal
and most likely has always been.
He loves to eat flapjacks
but can not cook at all.
So when he's hungry,
he begs you to cook his meal and all.
He hates the cold
and starts to shiver
if even a single raindrop
hits his wing.
He is a small little thing,
and has tiny little wings.
He weighs only a pound
but can barely lift himself
off the ground.
He sleeps late
and eats a lot
and doesn't care
if you're a good cook or not.
As long as he has flapjacks and grain,
maple syrup and sunny days,
he is the happiest little Rune
and can make you smile
even if it is in the rain.
It must be about me! Rascal thought excitedly. But how could he tell her he liked it? Most Runes were not able to talk to humans. Then he got an idea. He would take the poem, and show Lemon how much he liked it! Satisfied, he grabbed the poem gently with his claws and headed outside. It had stopped snowing, but was very cold. Rascal shivered, and flew down lower to the snow. He could see Lemon's, Trinket's, and Cattail's prints, and decided to follow them. He did not know of the danger that followed him.
---
The ginger tabby kitten slunk close to the ground, his tail swishing back and forth. He licked his lips. He was from a farm, but there was barely any mice. Being the smallest from the latest litter of kittens at the farm, he was often teased by the others. He had finally decided to leave the farm and go on his own. When he saw the strange flying creature, his first thought was 'food'. He would follow the small creature until the right time. Then he would pounce, and he would have his dinner. The ginger tabby smiled to himself and continued behind the creature quietly.
---
Rascal was unaware of the ginger tabby stalking him. He continued flying close to the ground, since it was the easiest way to fly for him. He hoped he was getting close to Lemon and the others, as he was getting a bit tired. He yawned and stretched out his wings farther then usual for a second. Unfortunately, this attempt at a stretch in flight was not successful, and Rascal was sent tumbling into the snow, the poem crumpled up beneath him. And that's when he realized that the tabby was right behind him.
---
The ginger tabby's heart started thudding. This is it! He thought, and pounced forward to make the kill. "Get out of here, you mangy tom!" The tabby came to a halt when a brown, cream, and white cat jumped in front of him. The cat was clearly still a kitten, but much larger then the ginger tabby. The other cat's tail was fluffed up, his back arched and fur sticking up, standing protectively over the creature. "I-I'm s-sorry!" The ginger tabby cried, and started mewing from fear of the larger cat and hunger.
---
Rascal looked up and shook off the snow that covered him. He grabbed the poem once again with his claws gently, and hopped onto Cattail's back. It was the first time Rascal had heard Cattail speak. Cattail had saved him from being killed. As his heart stopped pounding, Rascal realized how cold he was, and started shivering. He watched as Cattail relaxed, walked over to the kitten, grasping the kitten by the scruff, and carrying him over to where Lemon had rushed over. Cattail dropped the ginger tabby kitten at Lemon's feet.
Lemon picked up the kitten, and the kitten mewed at her. "Hello, little kitten. I suppose I could take you in. After, how much trouble can two cats, a collie, a chicken, and two Baby Runes be? As long as you don't hunt anymore of my friends, I'm fine with you staying." Lemon smiled. Suddenly, Rascal remembered why he had come outside in the first place. He pointed to the poem, and grinned and chirped. "All this because you wanted to show me you liked my poem? Well, thanks anyway." Lemon laughed.
Once at home, Lemon fed the kitten and fixed him a cozy spot on the couch. Cattail, now that the kitten was no threat, was actually quite friendly to the kitten. "Cattail, why don't you talk?" Rascal asked again. Cattail sighed. "Before Lemon and Sparrow found me, I lived in the woods. I was born in a hollow log, the only survivor of the litter. One day... my mother went off to find food... and a fox carried me off. It was startled by a Rune that was hanging around the pond, I don't know what kind of Rune it was. The fox dropped me in the reeds, and I mewed and mewed... but my mother never came. I mewed and called her all night... and when she didn't come back, I just gave up. Then Lemon and Sparrow found me and made me well. I realized that talking does not always get you what you want... and so I just stopped talking, except I do meow and hiss and such. I never talked to other animals." Cattail said.
Cattail's story was so sad, Rascal understood why Cattail had never talked. "Are you sure none of you're siblings survived?" Cattail asked. "Pretty sure... though one was alive. A gray female. One day, she just vanished. I presumed she had died." Cattail said. "Cattail! I think I know her!" The kitten mewed, licking milk off of his whiskers. Lemon had just given him a small dish of it. "You... you do?" He gasped. Rascal chirped excitedly. "Yes! She was a friend of my mother's. She lives at the farm where I came from." The kitten said.
And so Cattail, Rascal, and the kitten set out to find Cattail's sister. Rascal twirled through the air, or at least attempted to. He was so excited, he didn't feel cold. It didn't take long to get to the farm, where the farmer grew corn and other stuff like that. The kitten led the way into the barn, and inside was a whole group of cats. And there, sitting on top of a bale of hay, was a elegant gray she-cat. "That's her! That's my sister!" Cattail said. "Myst! I have someone here you need to meet!" The kitten said. Myst hopped down from the hay bale. "Do I know you?" Myst asked Cattail. "You're my sister." Cattail smiled. "I... I thought you had been killed! It's so wonderful to see you again!" Myst said, rubbing up against Cattail. The two were purring like mad. "I'm going to visit my mother. I'll be right back." The kitten said.
Myst and Cattail chatted for hours, and so did Rascal. He chatted with almost every cat in the 'clan' and enjoyed playing with a litter of pure black kittens. Finally, they headed home. Myst was staying at the farm, but the kitten was still going to stay at Lemon's cottage. The trudged through the snow and soon arrived at Lemon's cottage, and all three curled up on the couch, while Candy slept between Trinket's paws. Lemon had decided to call the kitten 'Toasty' and the kitten liked that name for himself. Rascal smiled. The day had been crazy, but all in all, a good day.I would have done some art, but my Java is not working and I don't have access to a scanner to scan my traditional art into the computer, but I have done a few sketches of him in my notebook in real life. I also currently have a bit of writers block, so my story is probably not that great. Still, I hope you enjoy it. I tried my best <3
