The light, dusky color had settle into the air. The sky was lit up with beautiful pinks, oranges, and purples. Only a sliver of the moon could be seen, but not too vividly, as it still wasn't fully dark yet. The air was humid and warm, causing lots of clouds to father in the sky. They were thin and whispy, beautifully complimenting the color of the still-light evening sky. Nothing stirred and only the noises of crepuscular Owls and evening Birds resounded.
Time slipped past in a slow manner. The sky slowly began to darken and all day-dwellers retrested to their nests and burrows, hidden in the sand, scrub, and cacti. Humidity had increased highly withing the past 30 minutes and it seemed to be 100 degrees. It was a desert out there, but deserts always cooled down at night. A passing Fennec looked up at the dwenkened moon with wide eyes and ears fully erect. Around said lunar figure, there was an eerie glow. She did not understand why the moon was glowing so strangly.
Before she could think, the light intensfied in a matter of seconds. It had collected near the center of the moon and was difficult to look at. The Fennec yawped and ran for her nearby burrow. But before she could make it, the glowing light beamed down like a spotlight upon her. Her eyes creased shut, fell to the ground in panic, and she froze up. The spotlight lasted only a minute then vanished into thin air.
She opened her eyes and stood up again. Something felt different about her. Luckily, since she had made her home near an oasis, there was a small pool of water to gaze into. The Fennec ran over to it and looked into the crisp, clear liquid. What she saw made her yelp in surprise. Her fur had become an Orange-Tan color and she had gained a moon marking on each of her shoulders. Her body had grown a little too, to the size of a Coyote.
"How can this be?" she muttered, and promptly clamped a paw over her mouth. Realizing that she could now speak came as a mighty surprise to the Fennec. "I must go lay down..."
The Fennec went back to her burrow and curled up into a ball. She would sleep on this matter and deal with it in the early morning hopefully. So she fell into a restful slumber, letting the panic slip from her nerves.
Should I continue this? I have an idea for it...
