My tank is 11.83 gallons.
I will seperate the snails. Um... How many beta can i have in there now? i have one currently. shes very small. (ik no males)

Also, is there anyone here who can help with tank setup? i'd like to setup my other 40-something tank ASAP and I'd like to make it another tropical. There's a problem i'm having cleaning it, because my dad let the water sit for four months before i noticed it and syphoned it out. Its really disgusting, with dried gross stuff from the water. i have no idea what it is, but how do i safely clean it off... and also. i can't move the tank, so how will i clean it out.

Also, how do i know Mcgee and Ponyo wont fertilize them? i don't know their genders.

My dad normally helps my, and i've cleaned tanks out before but not to this extent.

How much does it cost to make a lid? i'm not to sure on the gallonage. Is there a thing like the one you guys gave me, (thanks by the way ^^) that does bowfronts? All i know is that its in thee neighbohrhood of 40-50 gallons, like my other bowfront with the shubunkin in.

You could put 5 in there so 4 more, just make sure to remove your female already in there and rearrange the tank and put them all in together so it looks new to her and she doesn't feel the need to defend her 'territory' to the 'intruders'

How do i do that. i have one live plant, and a fake one, and pebbles... and where do i put her when i do that? my two coldwter tanks are overstocked, and i have yet to set up my second tropical tank.

If you want to house multiple female betta fish together you realllyy need to have way more than two plants and some pebbles. They need very densely planted tanks and loads of hides.. Even then its super common for an all-female tank to crash. I had 5 females in my 30gal at one point with tons of plants and hides and it just crashed with the females tearing one another apart.

An example of a wall planted female tank: Image
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

I used vinegar like jelly said to clean my 110 gallon tank. But instead of a sponge I used paper towels and a new razor blade on the hard parts. Wipe it down with clean water or rinse when you are done then let dry.

I don't believe the males would fertilize them. "Can I eat it?" Is their first thought. XD

Depends on what you are making the lid out of. You would have to find glass, then either cut it yourself(be oh so careful) or have a pro cut it. You can buy lids already made at a few petstores.

The link I gave you does bowfronts. :) You just need to select it from the drop down menu.
http://reef.diesyst.com/volcalc/volcalc.html
If you are having issues with using it just post these measurements and we can hep.
You would need to measure: Length of the tank, Side of the tank, Max Width and how deep your tank is. :)

I LOVE water change day. Its so much fun. <3

(Thank you!!! i didn't see a pull down menu on the other)Alright, it is giving me two numbers, but according to it, they are both 49.5 gallons, or 532.3 something. Does that mean i'm still overstocked with my shubunkin? you said he should be in 50 gallons, and its really close. Oh and also, i woke up very disturbed. Why would a fish beat himself up against the glass? He stopped shortly after i turned the tank light on. He also has other weird habits. He picks up pebbles and tosses them against the glass, he is often swimming against stuff as if "itching" and i don't think it was from my pleco, because he was doing it before. My dad said to leave it alone and see if disease develops. He looks fine, to me. Nothing out of the ordinary other than beating himself against the tank.

The itching sounds kind of like ick to me.. does he have any little white spots on him?

That is a pleco. it is a bottomfeeder and algae eater. I would ask around to teahcers, friends, neighbors, or anyone you know to take him. How big is he by the way?

What type of filtration do you have? If your filtration meets the requirements(2x the tank size for filter size and 10 the size of the tank in GPH) you would be fine with just the shubukin and frequent water changes. But I dont know the stocking requirements of the pleco you have. Maybe look around on google to find out.

That sounds like you might have a parasite. Picking up pebbles is normal though, most goldfish do that. The itching is exactly what it looks like, itching. Look around the tank for while or clear stringy poop. Also check your ammonia and nitrate. Mostly ammonia, what I usually recommend in parasite treatment is salt. You can either use Morton's canning and pickling salt( I use it, very useful) or any non salt water aquarium salt. Also if you can get your hands on prazi- pro that would help as well in treatment since we dont know if its internal or external like flukes.

Keep an eye out on that dot on the tail and see if it spreads.

Info on salt.

Prazi

Also you may have to remove your pleco or put the goldfish in a different tank temporarily for treatment. I dont know how well plecos can hold up to salt and we dont want him getting hurt by it.

My lionhead has dropsie  he's bloated more then my pearlscale and most of his scales are sticking up
I have no luck with my goldies, first my pearlscale got ich not long after I got him and now my poor lionhead, I did a 90% water change on that tank only 2 days ago as we had to move the tank
Should I do another big water change and clean everything?
The only 'meds' I have are salt and stress coat :(

This is something you need to work fast on. Dropsy is deadly but it can be fixed. QT they dropsy fish if you can.
You should post here in the Disease Diagnosis/ Treatments then go to Emergency (911 or 999) for more knowledgeable help.
http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/

When Shiro had dropsy I QTed him. Got a heater, cranked it up to 80F with Epsom salt for a few weeks. Got Metro meds and Jump start and fed him that.
http://www.goldfishconnection.com/shop/listing.php?parentId=5

On kokos goldfish, usually there are people with left over metro meds and jump start that will send it to you for free or just pay postage. That is how I got mine. Don't worry about not being in he US. There are a lot of members that are in different parts of the world.

Edit: You can also use Ofloxacin and Cefixime (dilute broken tablet in a bowl of water and then give the water in the hospital tank)
Here is a link to the page, I myself have not had any experience with this method but others have.\
