This is one of my fan pairings made as CS pets, but I like how they look together :3

Yeah, Contraire is a girly name, but whatever.

I'm going to continue it 'cause I don't want to do my English homework! >.<

"You would steal for me?" She whispers.

"Yes. Yes, I would steal for you any day," I tell her.

"Why do people die?" She asks me one day as we share lemons from the tree. Thinking about it, I never asked Maddie if she was a Jew. I don't think so. I don't think she remembers.

"It's part of life," I tell her, and her eyes grow sad with sorrow.

"I want to know my parents. Did I have siblings?"

"I don't know, Maddie. Should I?" I ask.

"No. No, you shouldn't. But I think... I think that Death knows what she's doing."

"Oh? So you think Death is a person?" I ask her, curiosity sparkling in my deep, intense red eyes.

"Yes. But Death doesn't end the lives, she begins the lives in a new world. You see, Death does not kill the people, but she simply takes their souls away, to another world, to another life, when it is time." She says slowly, punctuating every word.

I've never known she could be so right.

"So you're saying.... that these actions of cruelty are bringing us Jews and the other dead ones to a new life? So you mean.... there's a benefit from this massacre?"

"In a way, yes."

"Contraire!" I hear her yowl as I wake up. The morning light shines through the wall of our den, as pure as the white clouds that drift across the sky endlessly, every day.

"Yes?"

"I found a pup."

"A pup? Where?"

"She was barely alive, but I fed her some lemons. Can pups eat lemons?" She asks me, putting a paw to her necklace. She does that when she's nervous. The blue stone of the pendant glows in the morning light as her blood red eyes dance with concern.

"What with the war going on, I don't think it matters. It's die or live, every day," I mutter roughly.

"Let's name her Kiara."

And so, from that day on, we had a pup named Kiara.

Everything was perfect.... until he came. No... until they came.

"We've found the thief," I hear him say. I turn around, and there I see four burly wolves, with murderous green, red, and blue eyes. Before I can utter a single noise, the jump and me, and sink their claws into my fur.

"Contraire!' Maddie yowls, jumping to my aid. And there, to my horror, they laugh, and their unsheathed claws sink into her sleek, beautiful body. And then, as quickly as they had arrived, they leave, letting the blood spill.

"Contraire? Good-bye." She whispers, and tears flow down my cheeks.

"Maddie?"

"Yes?"

"Were you Kiara's mother?"

"Yes, and you were the father." She tells me, and then her eyelids flutter and she blacks out. In the mist, I see a shadowy figure appear: Death. And as Death comes to take Mademoiselle's soul away, I whisper,

"You've reached the new life."
