Story:
It was the night before Angie Marie's birthday. Her parents were out shopping, so Angie Marie was home alone, watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which was one of her favorite movies. When the movie was over she looked up at the clock and with a surprise she noticed that it was already eleven at night! She heard the front door rattle and recognized the sound of her father unlocking the door. She gave a small squeak, knowing she wasn't allowed to stay up past ten. So she rushed into her bedroom and quickly pulled the covers over her and pretended to be asleep, and eventually she actually did fall asleep.
The next morning, Angie Marie woke up with a start. It was her birthday! She leaped out of bed and raced into the living room. Her parents were already there. "Happy birthday!" Her mother beamed at her, and her father nodded, eyes gleaaming. Angie Marie grinned. "Are you ready for a fun day?" She jumped up and down in her excitement. "First we can go to the theatre to see a movie, then some friends are coming over, and-" Her father interrupted her with a look. "Actually, first we wanted you to open your presents. You know, right now." Angie Marie blinked. "Already? O-Okay?" Her mother smiled warmly at her, then both her parents went into the other room and came out with some boxes wrapped in paper. Angie Marie opened them gingerly, taking her time with each one. When she had them all opened, she sat back and looked over them all. They were all cat care items and cat toys. She looked questioningly at her parents, and her grinning mother went into the garage and came back with a tiny kitten. It had plush white fur with ginger patches and soft blue eyes. Angie Marie gasped. "A kitten!" She squealed. "This is better than I dared hope for! Let's skip going to the movies, I'm going to spend my day with her!" Her father smiled kindly. "What are you going to name her?" He asked, which made Angie Marie think for a while. "Cherry." She decided. "Her name will be Cherry Blossum." Her parents hugged her and the kitten purred. "Just wait until my friends see her!" And with that, she darted into her room with the kitten and a few toys, and didn't come out until her friends got there.
