DarkClan
Dappleclaw hissed frustratedly when the wood pigeon she had been stalking slipped through her claws. A few downy feathers as well as some sleek larger ones rained down on her as if the bird was mocking her. Its harsh screech echoed throughout the forest as a cry of desperate fear, though it rang like laughter inside the mottled she-cat's somewhat twisted mind. Her lips drew back in a snarl and the DarkClan cat clawed her way up the tree and dispatched her quarry so viciously before its heart had time to bid a grim farewell to beating that the IceClan prey's neck snapped in two, the bone shattering from the force of Dappleclaw's lethal bite. Her paws tudded lightly on the shadow-dappled ground when she landed nearly as silent as the fresh-kill that now hung limp in her jaws, only a whisper disturbing the otherwise soundless forest. Minute rustling sounds flitted away from her as the rest of the prey fled, killing any other chances of hunting for the day. Sighing, the dangerous she-cat turned and began padding in the opposite direction to collect the lone mouse she had killed earlier. Tasty blood pumped from the corpse in her jaws and either ran into her mouth or dripped down her fur to streak her pelt crimson, teasing her taste buds. The dead bird jerked once between Dappleclaw's considerably sharp teeth with a cadaveric spasm, the final motion it would ever make. For some reason, this pleased the enslaved cat.
Yes, savor the feeling, feed it like a flame. Icestar's cruel murmur echoed darkly in Dappleclaw's mind, causing the fur along her spine to raise as a shiver rippled down it. Her teeth crushed the wood pigeon even more and a few sharps pricked the soft flesh of the inside of her mouth. She attempted to get a pawhold on her thoughts and carefully monitored them. Which was rather pointless, but it helped her shake off the darker part of her mind for the time being. Yet it crouched just out of eyesight, always lingering beyond her thoughts, forever stalking and waiting. The tortoiseshell and white minion hastened her pace and followed her memory to the ash tree where she buried the dormouse earlier that day. As she walked, her pawsteps felt haunted somehow, a fathomless sense of foreboding tugging at her mind.
What now? she hissed inside her mind to receive no answer. Only silence, and Icestar's nearly omnipresent control over her. Dappleclaw's ears flicked in irritation while her paws churned the thin layer of earth to rebury the fresh-kill. Her jaws laden with prey, the she-cat started heading back to DarkClan camp with her claws unsheathed.
