Veiled by a Song: PM to Join (Fox RP)

"Careful!" Ryuu snarled at Copper as he knocked the demon over and Jakei with it. Ryuu leaped forward and landed on the demon, digging his claws into its squishy black flesh. He knew that this battle was won, so he yelled to Copper, "Always take into consideration where your allies are!" Ryuu glanced at Jakei to make sure he was okay before latching his teeth onto the demon's back leg. With a devastating crrrrunch he cracked the demon's bone. It howled in pain and terror. Tearing his claws down the demon's back, he knew this was the end of it.

Yuri's eyes widened in further horror as the demon and his mentor fell to the ground. His heart pounded and his muscles were so tense that they ached. His eyes searched for something to help with, he would do anything to protect his leash mates.

[Calypso Sky]

"Got it!" Copper replied to his mentor, hoping and praying that the fall hadn't hurt Jakei. He bit into the demon's neck, wincing as he encountered its nasty blood. The monster weakened beneath him, and he knew that Ryuu would be able to take care of the rest of it. "Ryuu!" he called, "Should Yuri and I find Soul?" The warrior apprentice had already dashed over to the soon-to-be hunter, flicking his tails impatiently and waiting for a response.

"Go!" Ryuu called to his apprentice simply as he used his weight to hold the demon down.

Yuri nodded vigorously at Copper's question. His tail lashed nervously as he anticipated the answer. At the word 'go' he was off. "Let's go, Copper!" Yuri yelled, his previous hostility towards the other fox forgotten. He knew that as a hunter, he was more nimble, but he was convinced Copper would be able to keep up.

Ryuu sprang on the demon's neck, snarling fiercely as he dug his claws in and bit down. The demon gave one last shudder and went limp, lifeless. He sighed in relief, his flanks heaving heavily with exhaustion. "Jakei!" he barked, "Are you okay?"

[Sacred Sin]

Jakei had been flung off the demon's back as the others had attacked it, yet much of its blood covered his pelt. His shoulder burned like fire now and it had almost eaten away to the bone. He couldn't move. "Ryuu." He whispered. "Get me a leaf covered in dew. I need to get off the acid before it completely eats away my shoulder." His voice was faint. "It will get into my blood stream and I will die if we don't hurry." Neither scared or desperate, Jakei looked at the warrior with clouded eyes. "If I don't make it Ryuu, tell Yuri that...that I couldn't have had a better apprentice; I am so proud of him. Tell Jupiter I love her and Leaf Fall that their has never been a better friend." With a shudder, he slipped into darkness, unconscious and on the brink of death.

[Calypso Sky]

Copper sprinted so fast, he couldn't feel his paws beneath him anymore. Side by side with Yuri, the warrior apprentice heaved and panted as he struggled to reach the leader, he knew they had gone pretty far. Shuddering, he took in one deep breath and called out, "SOUL, LEAF FALL, WE NEED YOU!!!"

Soul pricked is ears, he heard something very faint in the far off distance, but didn't think much of it as he resumed his digging. Suddenly, he felt something hard beneath his paws and he picked it up, his eyes glowing in delight. "I found a snail!" he laughed, delicately placing it in his mouth and enjoying it's salty flavor, "Mmm." The leader continued his search and found five more. He gave one to Leaf Fall and another to Heron as he continued his search for more.

Phantom smiled proudly at Raven. "Yeah, I guess. Thanks." He swished his tail. His ears flicked up, and down slightly at something far far away. Phantom's smiled faded, and heard yells-or-something- out somewhere. A bad feeling came down his spine, but shook the thought and returned his smile. He didn't want to ruin everyone's pleasant mood with a-I-heard-something-weird-and-it-sounds-bad- thing.

[Sacred Sin]

Leaf Fall didn't take it so lightly. "Soul." His eyes grew desperate. "I smell Copper and Yuri. Copper is yelling. Soul. Something is wrong!" He flashed to his feet. "I will go meet them to make sure it is nothing sir."

Jakei fell in and out of pitch black darkness. At points it was numbing and soothing and other times it was sharp and agonizing. Why hadn't Ryuu gotten the leaves yet? He felt the poison spread into his shoulder and he screamed loudly. "Ryuu!" The demon had been more than just strong; he was poisonous as well, built perfectly to take one slash at its victim and cause them enormous pain before they died. I pray to you Kinari, don't let me leave this earth.

Yuri's lungs burned and his muscles ached, but he ignored it. His sensitive nose caught the smell of Soul, Leaf Fall and Heron. "SOUL, HERON, LEAF FALL!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. Suddenly, he tripped on a root and tumbled in front of Soul and Leaf Fall. "Oof!" he gasped. He lay there gasping for breath for a while on his back, then struggled to say, "Demon... Ryuu... Jakei is in... trouble..." he choked out, struggling to his paws.

Ryuu didn't have anything to cure the poison with, it was too late to find any morning dew. Instead, he heaved Jakei onto his back. Ears pinned back in determination, he bunched his powerful muscles and took off at full sprint back to the camp. He crashed through the clearing and into Shiko's den. Sliding Jakei off his back he looked up at Shiko urgently. "Save him..."

Shiko's eyes widened in horror as she saw the wounded hunter. She didn't even have to ask what happened, by the looks of it, it was a demon. Swiftly, she whisked into the herb store and grabbed the necessary items. Squinting, she saw that the poison had spread. "Sorry, Jakei, but we'll have to use..." Shiko presented a stone box of some sort, opening it, she revealed leeches, "these." Leeches were painless until you pulled them off, they were useful for drawing the poison out. Quickly, she stuck several on around his shoulder. They quickly latched on and began to suck. Pulling out bright yellow snapdragons, she chewed them into a thick, sticky pulp and mixed it with red clover pulp. She smeared it over the wound, then treated the other wounds with daisy and mint. Holding her ear to his heart, she waited to see if her treatment was working.

Leaf Fall's eyes widened in terror. "Who is with Jakei now?" He demanded desperately. "Is the demon dead?" His eyes grew increasingly more urgent. He lifted his head to smell the air. "Ryuu has Jakei in camp by the smell, but Jakei reeks of poison and the sickly sweet scent of demon. He is dying Soul!" He cried, looking to his leader. "I must go!" With a last glance, Leaf Fall pushed away, speeding towards his injured friend.

Jakei's eyes rolled briefly as he was treated by Shiko. He looked at the leeches and closed his eyes not long after. His breathing slowed and he passed out again.

Jupiter screamed as her brother was dragged into camp. "Ryuu! Is he dead?" Her voice was a whisper, terrified and agonized.

[Calypso Sky]

"Leaf Fall!" Soul called after his SIC, but it was no use, the hunter was already off. He looked proudly at Yuri and Copper. "Well done," he said to them. "Stay here with Heron and rest up, there's still a long day ahead of us. There's a mouse, a rabbit, and some snails by and near that hole if you need to eat. Yuri, once you're feeling back to strength, you may hunt. Copper and Heron, you may look for fruit, berries, nuts, and eggs. Stay together, there might be more demons about. Good luck, and I expect you back in camp by sunset." The leader then bounded off after Leaf Fall. The camp was far, but he put all of his energy into sprinting back. He crashed through the camp entrance and halted in the middle, taking in all that was going on before padding towards the alchemist's den. "What's going on?" he calmly demanded.

Copper collapsed, breathing harshly and panting as Soul spoke. When the leader bounded away however, he realized that they forgot to mention something. "SOUL, KIKI AND SASHA ARE DEAD!!!" he called out after him. Praying that he had heard, Copper looked from Heron to Yuri, wondering how on earth he was going to be able to spend the rest of the day out of camp.
