"Good, but you really should be more focused next time," Raven tried to stay firm but her eyes shone with laughter and she sat back on her haunches. The black hunter licked her paw and rubbed it on Flare's nose. "Feeling better now?" she asked, smiling. Raven then noticed Jingle's head sticking out from behind a tree, she stuck her tongue out at her friend and raised her eyebrows to let Jingle know that she'd tell her all about Flare later.

"Yes,okay I will try to focus next time!" He said with a soft laugh to his voice. Then Flare sat still as Raven whiped his nose. Noticing her stick her pink tongue out and wink he turned in the direction she was looking. Seeing a tuff of Jingle's fur he said "If she's there do you think there waiting for us to go??"

Noticing Raven's tongue and wink Jingle nodded knowing that she would tell her later. Walking out from behind the tree she shouted "Come on lets get moving guy's!! Apollo,Phantom and I have been waiting for a while!!" Turning around she began to walk in the direction of the blackberry bush beckoning with her tail

Jakei watched his apprentice, eyes sharp, noticing every muscle tensed on the young fox. He admired Yuri's determination. "That will be quite fun." He smiled. "You will definitely be able to catch both mouse and rabbit with that crouch." His voice was thick with satisfaction and pride. "You are developing into a wonderful hunter Yuri. I shall be surprised if you don't do well on my surprise assessment today." His eyes flashed mischievously. "I shall be surveying the next proceedings as if I am not there. Catch as much as you can. Now off with you!" He barked and flicked Yuri with his bushy tail.

Jupiter lay down near the edge of camp, humming to herself and laughing softly about how rough her voice sounded compared to Kinari's.

Leaf Fall looked at Soul with an expression that was proud to be a part of the leash. I couldn't have said it better myself. He thought. His eyes darted to Heron to see his reaction. It had bothered him that the new fox had asked about Shiko and if she and Soul had a "thing". If he was to join this leash, it was clear he had a LOT to learn. He snorted softly and sat tall.

Yuri's expression changed from determined to terrified. "Wh-Wh-What?" he stuttered, he wasn't sure he was ready. Yuri's tail was puffed out fearfully, "I... I'll try my best..." Yuri forced his mouth into a twisted smile, then bounded off, in search of prey. After he was sure he was a good distance from his mentor, he stopped, looking for prey, but his nose picked up something different. It smelled rotten... sickly sweet. Wait, where were Kikiara and Sasha? His eyes flicked around as he padded forward. Yuri's heart stopped, before him, Kiki and Sasha lay, bleeding... dead... Towering over them was a demon. It was black and deformed, its jaws dripped green poison. It looked somewhat like a badger, but as large as a bear. Yuri didn't know what to do, he was frozen in horror. The demon roared at Yuri and stole off into the bushes, snarling and drooling all the way. "JAKEEEEIIIII!" Yuri screamed, running back to where his mentor was. He crashed into Jakei, breathing hard, his eyes round with terror. "Jakei..." he gasped, "I saw... I saw... I demon.." he choked out, "Kiki and Sasha... They're... They're... DEAD!"

"Alright..." Ryuu began, pacing back and forth in front of Copper. He poked experimentally at his muscles, then let out a snort of disgust. He padded up to a rather young tree, it wasn't that thick, but it was about the size of Ryuu's leg. "Slash at this tree until it breaks in half." Ryuu ordered.

Jakei smelled it the moment Yuri left. "YURI GET BACK HERE!" He screamed and as the apprentice rushed to him and hit him straight on, Jakei flung the young fox behind him, snarling, "Get behind me." His eyes narrowed as the demon burst out of the bushes. "You foul carrier of evil. Stay away from this leash!" Jakei roared. It was almost larger than a bear, but far more dangerous. A black tongue darted out of its poisonous mouth and sharp dagger-like teeth were visible. It charged as Jakei growled fiercely. "YURI GET BACK TO CAMP NOW! LET SOUL KNOW AS I KEEP THIS DEMON AT BAY!"

Raven looked up at the sky before responding, "We still have quite some time left before returning. I'm pretty sure Soul said sunset..." She looked around for the others and flicked her tail at the bird, indicating that Flare should pick it up as she walked back towards the rest of the patrol. "Wow!" she exclaimed, her eyes widening, "You picked a lot of berries!"

What?!? Copper screamed inside of his head, but he had promised himself to do better, and it certainly wouldn't help him to challenge his mentor. His face expressionless, he padded over to the tree and raised his front paw. He slashed across it, but only managed to take the top layer off. He did it again, with the same paw, only this time, he used all the force he had. Again, there was only a little dent in the tree. He turned around and raised his back paws so that he was balanced only on the front ones. Copper spun and slashed the tree with his back paws, every scrap of energy he had went into destroying that tree. Panting, he turned and looked to see that he had barely done any damage. Furious, he stood up on his hind legs and attacking the tree over and over again, snarling as he did so, and trying to put as much muscle into it as he could.

Jakei wasn't a warrior, but he was hunter and that gave him the advantage of stealth and speed. He snapped at the demon and snarled again. He would give his life to protect Yuri and the leash. Though the camp was protected, if Jakei ran now, it was possible the demon could kill other foxes still in the forest. The huge, drooling creature lunged at him, poison spattering the ground near Jakei, but the fox dodged and darted in to snap at the demon's leg. He tasted its blood in his mouth and he spat it out in disgust.

Yuri tumbled to the ground as Jakei shoved him aside. Shaking himself as he leaped back to his feet he streaked blindly away. He picked up the scent of Copper and Ryuu. "COPPER, RYUU!" he screamed, "Help! There's a demon! Jakei is in danger! The leash is in danger!" he shouted breathlessly.

Ryuu watched his apprentice, his expression completely calm. He remembered doing this exercise with his mentor, Quilla, before she died. She was a fierce and ruthless mentor, but she taught him most of what he knew. And the other part? His old mentor from his old leash... Vicca. Shaking away the memories, he watched Copper. But suddenly, Yuri's screams pierced the air. "Come on, Copper!" he ordered, running towards Yuri right away. "Lead us." he demanded and ran after the small red fox.

Jakei heard Yuri reach Copper and Ryuu and he breathed a sigh of relief, but realized too late that that one moment of distraction was lethal. He turned his eyes back to the demon and instantly felt a searing pain in his shoulder as the poison melted away the flesh. The agony made him scream and he fell to the ground as the demon towered over him. He thought of his sister and the leash and a fiery determination sparked through him. He. Would. Not. Die. He jumped to his feet, staggering only a little and flung himself at the black demon, landing on his shoulders and snapping down.

Coppers heart beat so hard, he thought it would pop right out of his chest. He forgot the pains in his muscles as he dashed behind Ryuu and Yuri towards Jakei. His only thoughts were that he had to protect the others. Sprinting, he reached the scene and saw Jakei's shoulder burn as the demon attacked it. Without a thought, Copper dashed forward and quickly spun around, keeping his tails straight and tripping the demon the way he tripped Ryuu early. Now that the opponent was down, it would be much easier to destroy and the apprentice lunged forward, tearing and ripping and dodging as it flailed about.
