I need a good literate roleplay, and I’m starting to think I should stop being lazy and just do my own.

--> I had this plot idea in mind where a few highly skilled youths are training to take down a creature mistaken for the Slender Man; the first section would take place in the academy, and once they are given the task to destroy it, they venture out into the city.

I'm not going to have character slots, just slots for people to join. You may make any sort of character you please and however many ^^

Something that's always intrigued me is why people will have 'male' and 'female' slots, but no further restrictions. So:


Five males plots open, five female slots!


I mean, really? What does having a certain number of girls and boys do? .-.
Even in romance-based plots it doesn't work, cause heaven knows we aren't all straight, so that would just mess things up really.
Someone understand this?

I tend to find that more people go for girls and it leave one boy or something silly like that and five girls. Or the other way around. But then again I'm quite happy to be flexible with this and don't always have equal numbers of each gender.

Well, most of the time I see that would be in role-plays where its all straight romance, so everyone has a bf/gf.
Or in couples role-plays, where its set couples, it would just be saying what genders the roles are...

Perhaps it's humankind's love for symmetry? Usually things that are considered symmetrical are more pleasing to the eye- like how people with symmetrical faces are considered beautiful, so I suppose it carries over to numbers as well. Gender is one of the basic classifications, so having it even makes people happy.

Or I'm just reading way too much into things again. Personally, I blame this Psychology paper. I don't want to write it anymore ;n;

Neon: I like how you think. Symmetry seems to be the only explanation that makes sense. I personally don't see a reason for even numbers of girls and boys, except to prevent the all-girl RP from occurring accidentally. *shrug* Which I don't think I've ever seen.

I've done this a few times, but e cause if you don't limit, then ... Well ... CS users always for the girls. Unless its a club only role play, I like to say things like "no more than half girls" and blah.
