I have 3 cats at the catery (I can't remember if thats how you spell it) because we moved to another country and they still have to have tests done before we can take them home. *le sigh* I am worried about them because the eldest is on his own in a room and the two brothers like fighting with each other and are stuck in a room together. *Recipe for disaster* Ahh I miss having a big ball of fur purring down my ears until I'm quite sure I'm deaf. x3

Hiya,

My dad surprised me this morning by walking in the living room with a box, when I asked what it was he said. "Happy birthday." and handed it to me. I opened up the box and there was this tiny ginger tabby kitten staring at me. I started crying uncontrollably over the fact that I have finally gotten a kitten after four years of begging my parents to let me keep one.
When I placed him on my lap he rubbed his head against my thighs and lay there purring.

He is a little boy and has just turned eight weeks old today. I have been calling him Harry for the past half an hour to see how he responds to it, and he seems to like it, and I think it fits him so that's what I decided to name him. The reason I chose the name 'Harry' was becuase I ADORE Harry Styles. Hehehe, Directioner in the house! :3

So yeah, to the right there is a picture of me and Harry. I tried to hide my face behind Harry becuase I know your not allowed to post pictures of yourself here on CS, so I hope this isn't breaking the rules to badly. :s

I'll keep you posted!
Bye!

Love,
Cat With A Top Hat & Harry.
xxxxx

^Congrats on your new kitten.
But small critique, that is out of your control in this case. Kittens are supposed to stay with their moms until 12-13 weeks old... Or that's the info I keep running into on breeders' homepages.

It shouldn't. In my opinion, the extra weeks is simply to ensure they're fully weaned, litter trained and doing a bit more socialization. Most shelters even adopt kittens out at 8 weeks, as do most backyard and accidental breeders. When my cat had an accidental litter (an idiot friend let her out) we only kept the kittens until fourteen weeks because of litter training issues. Mom wouldn't teach them so I had to and they had a little trouble catching on. I didn't want them to go to their new homes then be given away later because the new owners didn't want to or didn't know how to litter train them.

Yeah, he seems to be doing fine. He can eat all by himself and is really outgoing and playful, not to mention he is a massive lad for his age.

It seems that minimum 12 weeks as adoption age is written in our cat associations breeder's rules, which is why all the breeders under that association must follow it. Hence why I've been running into it a lot since I've been looking different cat breeders' pages a lot. Also many breeders say the kittens are given two shots before moving to their new home, so that might have something to do with the 12-14 week age as well, since 14 weeks pops up a lot as well.

We are taking Harry to the vet in two days to receive his first distemper shot. That's all the shots I know of, not including his booster shot that he's getting next month.

I have finally found the perfect CS chat for me. A group of people hopefully just as obsessed with their fluffy friends as I am X3 I grew up with cat's my whole life and sadly can't have any in my current apartment :\ but my mother still has 6, 2 of which are "my" cats. Hopefully I can move to an apartment that will allow me a kitty sometime soon (: Need some advice though, my friend's think that when I move I should take my cats from my mother's, while I think I should adopt a new cat from a shelter and give it a second chance because I know my mother will take care of my two babies. I mean I live close enough to her that I can visit them at-least once a week, but does anybody have any thoughts on this subject? also If I can figure out how to post pictures (sorry all I'm a tad bit new) I'll post pictures of my kitties.

In my opinion, it's not really fair to make your family care for your own animals unless they've volunteered to do it without you asking. I would never leave my cat with my mom, no matter how close we lived to each other, unless I absolutely had to then I would take him back as soon as possible. She loves him and they have their own special little connection but he isn't her cat and it's obvious. I'm sure she would willingly take care of him until I was able to but it's a bit much to ask her to keep him while I go out and get another cat to live with me. It's great you want to help out a cat in need but it's my philosophy that pre-existing animals come first, including vet care, food, and where they live. If you bring your cats home with you and still have the time, money and space to get another cat (and your current cats are okay with that) then by all means, go ahead.
