I don't think anyone is going to agree with me here but this has been bugging me lately.
Am I the only one who really hates the idea of adopting characters.
Every single one of my characters was designed and developed solely by me, maybe with a few ideas from my friends. They're like a part of me, especially my main character, good God I know her better than I know myself. I love her to death.
Adopting someone else's design just seems so.. impersonal. I mean it's not bad or anything, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with doing it, it just seems so weird to me.
And then adopting characters that are already fully developed and everything, how do you form a bond with a character like that? You didn't have any part in creating the thing. And if you don't have any part of yourself in a character then what's the point? Just for it to sit there and look pretty or?
I don't get it.
I am probably taking characters way too seriously.

my fursona is so bland but
i don't want to change him
i mean, i have another character i could replace him with that's much less bland but
i made his design myself and he just feels much more special to me than the other one someone designed for me
i just
sigh
we are the city; we are the heart
we are the lifeforce; we are the spark
it's because of us if we cut the cord
we break the program, they live no more

I totally agree.
I don't really have any characters persay, but I've never really understood the idea of adopting or buying characters.

I disagree and agree, but either way I respect your opinion.
Many of my designs have been bought/adopted. The ones I bought are mostly customs. I hardly ever design my own characters because, quite frankly, I can't design for crap. If I do adopt or buy, though, I make up everything else about them. Name, personality, history, purpose, all that jazz. I don't like already developed characters as much.
/sounds confusing

WHY AM I SO BAD AT DESCRIBING LANDSCAPE? ;a; I wish skill was an actual thing you could steal because if it was I'd be running off with one of my friend's writing skill. She's soooo good at imagery and I can't come up with a single descriptive sentence for this story plot. I use dialogue as way too much of a crutch in my writing and it's not going to get me anywhere. T.T
