Sample of Writing: Eve yawned, stretching her blue sweater-clad arms above her head. She rolled her eyes at the dishwater below her, then grabbed the blue sponge from the back of the sink and a plate from the sink. Absent-mindedly scrubbing at the plate, her mind wandered to the scene outside the frosty window, where a man and his son argued. A small girl was playing next to them, apparently unaware of the scene unfolding above her.
"You waste of space!" yelled the father, waving his hands at the son.
"Shut up, you fool! At least I'm not drunk off my..." the noise trailed as the two men began to walk away, the only semi-intelligible sound being mumblings from the girl. She looked up, evidently searching for her father, then saw he was crossing the street. The toddler began to panic, screaming and readying to run across the street. Just then, Eve saw a car pulling over the hill at the far end of the street, driving far too fast for the small cul-de-sac.
"STOP!" roared Eve, her blue hair billowing as she launched out the door, lunging for the girl. Ignoring the scraping of rocks and pavement under her delicate feet, she jumped for the girl, grabbing her and rolling across the street in the bare nick of time. The toddler was crying, wheeling her arms and legs. Eve laid there, frozen in fear, then finally managed to sit up. The girl's father ran towards her, a string of expletives falling from his mouth as Eve passed out.
