Suggestion! *CS Info Video*

TITLE: Suggestion: CS Training Video

Hello there, members of CS! Postcard and I were discussing, and came up with this neat idea!

We thought that it would be great if there was a video made explaining the basics of fair trading, the Rares List, and (perhaps another one) explaining just some basics of the site! I know personally I learn if there is a visual guide and also an auditory one, so this would help a lot of people!

The video could be put in every new member's inbox when they register and for COPPA'd members in the forums. As with COPPA'd players, anyone else could view this guide in the Help Forum or a place like that!

The video would consist of a visual guide showing the user what to do, like looking at your own screen but someone else would be controlling the cursor. It would show and explain how to trade with others, the forums, C$, Oekaki, the store, wishlists, PM's, how to adopt pets, rarity (like what OMG So Common's are v.s. OMG So Rare's for instance), Unreleased pets, items, what the Rares List is, some account features, how to make posts, etc.

So, what do you guys think?

Can't say I really agree, as many members have a different view on trading, which can cause a confusion among members. People have different views on a fair trade.

Yes, but maybe not views on what trading is fair, perhaps just showing them how to trade with others? Showing them where to click and whatnot?

What if a new member's internet was slow? Like Wolf said, what if they have a different view on trading? What if somebody wanted to access the video and the PM containing the video had dropped out of their inbox? What if they needed help/had questions about the video and had nowhere to ask for it? Which system account would send the PM?

Written guides, I find, are more efficient - if they have questions, they can simply just post there asking. And the guide, most likely, will always be there and they'll know how and where to find it.

It's a very good suggestion, but unfortunately I see too many problems with it to agree. ^^;

And I can understand what you mean about different opnions on fair. So like The Riddler said, maybe just on how to trade (the basics) and how to create trade rules and such as well? That kind of stuff :3

I don't see the need to make a video. If they want to read the guides, then they will do it. You can't force people to read something. If they don't want it is their choice and they have to live with the consequesnes of it.

Eh. I can see the merit in it.
Most game 'help' sections and walkthroughs are turning into videos nowadays. I don't understand it nor do I find it convenient, but maybe other people will since this pattern seems to be rather consistent. Do you really find it easier to go through a 20 minute video rather than doing a Ctl F or a search function?

I'll see about doing one of these this weekend if you want. I don't think covering trading is a good idea but showing people how to navigate and where the most used threads are could be useful.
