Sorry.
Zane followed along behind the Master.
The escape through the Spiral Gate Engine had been quick and easy, leading them into the space between threads, home of the cutters.
It was a strange place, not quite substantial, but definitely there.
All people saw it slightly different.
The cutters stood aside as Master swept through. They averted their eyes, giving awkward aknoledgement to the pair as they passed.
They didn't like him.
Something about him, something off, something frightening.
He wasn't the strangest looking, or the strangest acting.
His apprentices, their red red eyes, vacant expressions, eyes dropped low, walking in constent lockstep, yes sir, no sir...
They just avoided him.
They didn't want anything to do with him.
Something was up, but they all figured it was best to just let whatever happened happen.
Ignore it all, and it won't become their concern.
"Well Mister Zane, I must say there is quite a bit to be done in very little time. It was of course your confrontation with the colored ones that caused this all, but I must say your catalyst could come quite in handy. Miss Alena will of course be lost on us for a litte while thanks to the puppetmaster, but she's still one of mine. There is no way to fully take that away from someone. On another important note, you are still the one in charge of the final cleanup. I expect you to cut it off this time. It will make an excellent learning experiance for both you and Miss Alena before we move on."
Zane nodded, eyes firmly on the floor.
