Okay, so the one I'm trying out for says that it's species is a canine/wolf, but nowhere does it say it has to stay that way. Would I be able to change it to a shifter?

You might want to ask the original donator of it to confirm, but if they don't specifically say it can only be that species, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be a shifter. :3
